my dad came here form africa in the 80's married my mum in the 90's. we lived in a 4 bedroom for 13 years paid rent and then moved to better part of islington and 800 pounds a month. my parents find it disgraeful that immigrants come to islington and mayfair etc. and rent houses. my dad worked for 13 years before he thought he could afford to move these people dont THINK.
I have a question of all the citizens of these richer countries, Europe and N America.
Why does it seem to me that you easily provide residency to unqualified immigrants, who clearly can not earn a good living without govt assistance, then you complain. For instance, some of us here, including myself in the USA, have a PhD and two masters in Math and Engineering but we have to leave after some time. I don't mind because I will go entrepreneurial. It just seems like u want cheap labor, slaves.
@GhGuBeUS You are not making the distinction between government and people. People complain, and rightly so, because as tax-payers we pick up the bill. We are not consulted on immigration and most people are against it. The government has its own agenda and poor policies that fail to take into account the wishes and future of the indigenous population. We're fighting back. Those politicians will have a limited future.
@BritainDivided What you are saying makes sense. Its important to distinguish between the government and the people. I am just saddened that people from parts of the world, including the part that I am originally from (Africa and the Caribbean) have to run to these 1st world countries like UK and US to beg for jobs and residency. It would be nice if our governments were not greedy dictators and I think this problem would be eliminated. It truly saddens me.
@GhGuBeUS Yes indeed that is a part of the problem. It's a shame those people can't make a decent life in their own countries among their own people. The burden on small countries like the UK is too great and we can't keep taking in people who have a poor standard of living in their own countries and so want to jump ship for a better life here. That comes at the expense of British people which is not fair. We should do something with the British Commonwealth, restart British Empire.
@GhGuBeUS If those countries can't be governed properly then Britain could provide governance and administration for them like we did in the days of the British Empire. Many countries were much better off and countries in Africa would benefit greatly from proper investment and infrastructure, industrialisation which would bring prosperity and stability to many areas of the world.
@GhGuBeUS That's in one of the most exclusive parts of London, the capital city and most expensive place to live in UK. It's ridiculous you're right, that someone who isn't even making a positive net contribution to UK economy is living there and subsidised by tax-payers.
@dashwood123 This woman wasn't born in Islington or even born in this country. If she can't support herself, she shouldn't be here, that's the bottom line. Why should other tax-payers support people like her? Would you expect people in her native country to support you and your £800 a house over there? Why is it then you think Britain should and is a charity? We're not a charity. New laws coming in 2016 will mean no-one without a degree and £35k salary can settle in UK.
@dashwood123 The big picture is this.. we have far too much immigration, we've had no quality control over that immigration, and now we're having to deal with the problems of that, like this case here. This is bad governance sure, but not the kind you're talking about. I never mention "race". If she was skilled and educated and earning a proper living, we wouldn't be having any discussion.
That's total hogwash and you know it. This country is full of opportunities and education is FREE for people on low income like her. There's no excuse. If you want the lifestyle and Islington house, you have to EARN it. We're in financial limbo and the first thing we should be doing is removing all the dead wood and getting rid of any immigrants who are not a net contributor.
@dashwood123 I CAN and I DO blame her. She's sitting on television moaning about having to move to into Council accommodation more fitting to her circumstances instead of living in a house far beyond her means, which she seems to expect the tax-payer to pick up the bill for. That's just taking the piss and unacceptable, as you can see from the strength of feeling of other tax-payers here. She should get an education and start earning a proper living like rest of us.
This woman is working, not totally reliant on benefits, most of the working age population gets some form of benefit, child benefits, reduced council tax, family tax credits. The real problem is the cost of living going up while wages remain static. The government and banks are responsible for this. They forced the cost of housing up by doing dodgy deals on property, and when it went tits up, tax payers had to bail them out. Some idiots on hear blame the poor black woman for this, WTF!
@dashwood123 That's a disingenuous comment. Shes supported far more than shes earning, therefore she's an economic burden on the state. Although benefits are designed to support families, you're not supposed to be a burden to the state. She's living well beyond her means supported by the tax-payer in housing that she wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. Shes got a large family she cannot support. It's nothing to do with banks or government, its solely down to her.
@BritainDivided What a load of bollocks, she wouldn't be a burden on anyone if the state wasn't so corrupt, its not her fault that she earns piss poor wages. She can't vote herself a massive pay rise like MP's. She is being ripped off from every angle, benefits meant to make up the short fall in wages are being reduced, the company she works for won't pay a living wage, and the government wants to make her homeless.
@BritainDivided Its not working harder that makes you rich, being born on the right side of the fence helps, the you can sit on your arse while everyone else does the work for you.
@dashwood123 As I said, this is a country full of opportunities for people willing to take them.. we have the best education institutions in the world and free higher education for low earners. It's the best country to start a business in, and there's no shortage of things you can do if you set your mind to it. You have to take responsibility for yourself. It's easy to say oh I was born on the wrong side of the fence, or oh the government and banks are rich and I'm not etc.
@dashwood123 It's you who is talking bollocks. Nobody is making her homeless. The government have told her shes going to be moved into a house she can AFFORD which is no longer subsided to the tune of £800 a week by the taxpayer. If her wages are too low, try she should try getting an education and some skills. Thats down to HER. Shes getting free housing and benefits to support a family she cannot afford, and you're telling me shes hard done by? FUCK OFF
@dashwood123 The working class will be far better off not having to support people like her I can assure you. We need to seriously drastically reduce our immigration burden and we'll see a rise in our own standard of living. The country is overcrowded and weighed down with benefit drainers like this woman. If you can't pull your weight, you're gone. Thats how it is in US, that's how it should be here.
i don't understand it??? why have 5 kids if you can't pay for them so people like me and other hard working tax payers are forced to pay for her housing and children.....things like this is what makes me sick about britain
@CI2A1Gx You're right, and its not just an isolated and unfortunate incident.. this woman is a statistic. I've been digging into the stats with Office for National Statistics, Afro-Carribeans are the ethnic group with the largest single parent families. Out of all the people who be allowed to immigrate into Britain, why continue to keep allowing low education, unskilled people that just increases our burden. It's sheer madness. Like a country in self destruct mode.
@CI2A1Gx Not only that, shes a living a lifestyle in a location/house that is way beyond her means...as you said, funded by you and I, the tax-payers. It's just totally unethnical, immoral and unacceptable. We as tax-payers should be petitioning our MP's and outside Downing Street. It's a waste of OUR money.
landlords and letting agents are scaming the benefit system, for example ter houses in london with a small kitchen are used as a studio by adding a single bed becomes a 200 pound a week studio.
most of these properties dont have planning permission for conversion but the landlords and letting agent are raking the benefit system two small studios converted in a small ter house in london can fetch 1600 a month
The government are breaking all our Common law. The fabian communist scumbags and there common perpose robots,, these fucks have no heart or soul they are dead men walking.
Fuck the greedy landlords and fuck the all the suit scum .
They created the broken system and know they are gonna use it to bring a corporate marxist dictatorship. they start with the poor and then the Middle classes REVOLUTION NOW!!!!!!NONCONFORMITY NOW!!!!!!!
@FreedomFighterUK We're being taken for a ride..people like this woman are an economic burden from the moment they apply for residency in the UK, so why not filter out such people? ...and how many safe countries do these asylum seekers cross to enter UK? Our Border Control and immigration policy is just totally messed up and not working in the tax-payers or the country's interest at all, it's more like an international charity at OUR expense.
@FreedomFighterUK We as citizens have seriously got to tackle this problem and get to grips with the politicians responsible eh. They're spending OUR money, giving OUR money away to other people against our wishes and without our consent. That strikes me as being unconstitutional and undemocratic. A government should serve the interests of its OWN people first and foremost, above all else. I'm sure people who voted didn't agree to pay for other peoples lifestyles.
single mother of 5 and she has money problems, now I have to bail her out. How about she just takes some responsibility for her life choices? I cant afford 5 kids, so I dont have them, if you cant afford it, DONT DO IT.
@block1385 Yeah exactly. This country is just very badly governed. At the moment it rewards ANYONE for having children with benefits without considering education or qualifications. Clearly this woman is uneducated/unskilled and is not making a positive contribution to the economy, but instead is a burden. These people need to be disincentivized from having large families, and only those people who can afford to support their families and make a positive contribution rewarded.
@pranabnaik She says she can't because shes used to that area and her children have friends there and like the school they go to. There's a simple answer to that, tough. If you can't afford to live in that area from your own earnings then you have no business being there. You cannot expect tax-payers to support your lifestyle and you have to live within your means, just as the rest of us who WORK and pay taxes have to. Nobody subsidies our lifestyle eh.
Single mother of 5! Some people might call that irresponsible. Hope you're happy paying to bring up her kids! The wonders of multiculturalism. It's enrichment you know!
How the fuck do these Caribbeans come here? She's obviously come here uneducated with no special skills.. how the FUCK did she gain entry into the UK and be eligible for "laziness" benefits?
Same question applies to the Hordes of fucking Bangladeshis, Indians, Pakistanis, Africans, South Americans, Asians.. etc etc
@wank0r You're right, WHY are these people being allowed entry? That is the question we need to be asking. They are lacking any skills and education, clearly unable to support themselves or the large families they tend to have, so why bring such people here only to add to our economic burden? It seems to defy any logic. There is just no "quality control" on immigration it seems and it's run more as a charity than a serious immigration policy that puts the interests of Britain first.
@BritainDivided Well said sir! If we continue to articulate in the balanced way that you have done here, other intelligent people will see, as I have done, and the message will get out. We need to make our voices heard, we have nothing to be ashamed, the people who have done this to our country have everything to be ashamed of.
UK is a heaven and christmas everyday for all bogus asylum seekers specially muslim refugees ,africans, yet they are not happy if they get a 4 bedroom council flat, and small amount of money they recieved..
before the benefit cap single mothers with nine children were getting £70+k a year, we need a disincentive to stop scroungers giving birth to many more scroungers so the general taxpayer pays for people to have more children, the only reason middle class families (ones just above the benefit threshold) dont have children is becuase they A work for a living and B becuase they cant afford it.
@MrJimSlim1 If she was white there would be SOME justification for paying her the outrageous benefits this parasite receives. But as it stands, shes not even born in this country and doesn't even belong here.
@defnoxs You're right, if we restricted benefits only to people who have lived in the UK for more than 30 years or born to parents who have, that would mean no newly immigrants would ever be entitled to benefits and even illegal immigrants who manage to stay here and have children wouldn't be either. It would be a major disincentive for immigrants thinking of coming here. A sound policy, so why doesn't the gov implement something like that!
aww my white proud english heart bleeds for this parasite to this fucked up goverment system!!! the money she gets for her rent i have to work a hard 2 weeks for it!! i still have to live with me parents cus i cant afford a flat never mind a house!! dunno why i bother infact im quittin me job n gettin on the benifits fuck it!!!
I bet she would never do this if she was still in Jamaica where they don't even have water/food,,,but now she is in england and wanna complain about benefits,,,
£500.00 for this baboon? check her out of the country quick!! save the govt £18,000 a year this ashole is a fucking money grabbing hore of satan!!! fck her!!
BITCH needs to move out i wanted ot live in London but i coulndt as i am poor but they will help these imigrants who have done nothing for the country?? working at uni for a degree wheres my free house? the people who work?
STUPID BIATCH GETS AROUND £550 FOR HER RENT A WEEK!!! THATS £1,500 A MONTH? AND £18,000 A YEAR FOR HER FLAT JUST FROM THE GOVERNMENT FOR HER HOUSING NEEDS WHY DONT THEY HELP THOSE WHO EDUCATED IN UNIVESITY AND CONTRIBUTED TO THE SYSTEM?? INSTEAD OF THESE MONEY GRABBING WHORES?
LOL i worked for many years but still living in the poorest part of the UK why should she have it easy? LOL she isnt even a British resident people work their asses off and live in porer areas fuck her!
I was almost sympathetic until it was told that the woman rented private accomodation in ISLINGTON hahahaha do what every one else does, downsize, go cheaper, different area we all have to do it!!!
Let`s just remember something : There are a couple of million people up and down the country who are paid the NMW and paying tax into the Treasury so that they can give it to people staying in £1000 a week accommodation.
@tnucasisusej Contrary to popular misconception the Royal Family are not swimming in tax-payers money or exploiting the state. They run a very tight budget and offer very good value for money, working a damn sight harder than many of these foreign parasites do.
@wank0r WRONG. Your paying tax so that her shitty nursing home doesn't have to pay the wages needed to get staff. Take housing benefit away and business like that nursing home would have no choice BUT to pay her a wage that houses and feed her or have no staff. - Which ofc they couldn't pay for London and would thus have to move to a cheaper city and we actually get balanced metropolitan city growth in the UK.
Housing benefit is first and foremost a benefit for London businesses & landlords.
JESUS FUCKIN CHRIST! I can't believe how big her house is. I work 40 hour weeks and struggle to pay my £500 per month rent which is for 1 room in a shared apartment with 4 other people living here.
Nice TV! This is a fuckin joke.
I might add that I'm actually from this country... as in really from this country not just waving a passport around like a meal ticket.
their approach in separating the poor into much more "affordable" neighborhoods or suburbs is just going to create working class and impoverished ghettos. creating mixed income neighborhoods and government subsidized housing is a better approach.
This is exactly why we have thousands of people claiming "asylum" in the Western world 99% of them aren't fleeing conflict or persecution, they are coming for the free housing, education, medical and free weekly money, not to mention basically getting paid to have children. They are laughing at us.
@jagara1 true i cant live in london although it will help my family as we have 1 person working and if that person loses their job we will be homless and we have lived in the UK all our lives but this biatch comes from Africa and she gets around 500 for a week this is fucking government fuck ups man! i wish i could live in london and work there i cant find a job in my own city and i am british citizen with a degree no jobs no prospects!! why do they help them?
Multiculturalism is an anti-European hate-ideology designed to deconstruct European cultures and traditions, European identities, European Christendom and Even European nation states. And, as such, it is an evil genocidal ideology created for the sole purpose of annihilation everything European.
You can call it multicultaralism, you can call it diversity, you can call it tolerance, you can call it whatever you want. But It is, in fact, deliberate, demographic, genocide.
She is crazy... there is of course a cheaper place to live. And why does she have so many damn children!? ugh. I live in Japan.. im american and I pay 600 bucks a MONTH. I am single and make a normal wage but I know i could not support a kid. first you gotta get married right? lol Why do women who are poorer have children ... i mean soooo many children and are single?!
@khalilahinjapan Well said! It's simple common sense to you and I, but for some reason the UK is now so liberalised they not only think it's ok/acceptable for this type of thing to happen, they also think we have some duty towards financially supporting these people.
uk, kick all these african/arab/paki scum out of your country. your mp's better grow a set and do everything to protect your country. she dosn't have any money, but she can buy a flatscreen tv. whats wrong with you euros?
I want to live in Beverly Hills, my kids will go to BHHS, but I can't you know why? Because its to expensive thats why I live in Brentwood now get the fuck out!!
No wonder so many blacks and paki's are moving into the U.K, with outrageous benefits like that, I don't blame them for moving there. The government needs to crack down on welfare abuse.
wtf 400 aweek is to much she is crazy it should be only 1250 max a month , i dont see why she is mad she can just find a cheaper biger house dont try and go to depts
what is she doing having 5 kids she cant afford to keep? the human race is doomed necause epople like her cant keep their fucking legs closed. they should be steralised before entering the country,
If you only have £1, you can't spend £10! There is no question of Racism here & nor should there be! Why is it that other people who are in the same position as this Patricia Radclif be making do with Housing Bennefit Payments of £250 a week for houses in other areas?
WHERE IS THERE ANY LAW THAT SAYS THE GOVERNMENT HAS TO KEEP
YOU AND YOUR FAMILY IN HIGH PRICED ACCOMODATION?
SOME OF THE MONEY, OF WHICH COULD BE GOING TO OTHERS, WHO WOULD BE ONLY TO HAPPY TO HAVE A ROOF OVER THEIR HEAD THAT IS IN A NORMAL AREA!!!!!!!!
FUCKING PISS TAKING CUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
COME HERE TO THIS COUNTRY WITH NO RIGHTS TO ANY THING AND START GETTING FUSSY ABOUT NOT WANTING TO STAY ANY WHERE ELSE OTHER THAN AN EXCLUSIVE UP MARKET AREA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another bone-idle lazy scrounger, it's great to know that these people are still being encouraged to ruin our economy, i suppose they should be recession proof, whilst the workers are taxed even more, in the most difficult of times!
@BritainDivided Its the same here in the US. We have millions of illegal immigrants from all over the world but of course only Mexicans are targeted. They don't go after the asians, Middle Easterns or Africans. Its racism pure and simple. If you don't want illegals in your country go after ALL of them not just the colored ones. I'm not making any comments toward the Britain or its government, I'm merely disuputing your claim that racism is legally and politically fictional. It isnt Period
@wiresxandxwaves You seem to be confused here. I'm not saying ethnic discrimination doesn't exist, of course I'm not. I'm saying, the term "racism" is a nonsense. It's a derived from a meaningless word that has no scientific basis whatsoever. Understand, it's ETHNIC DISCRIMINATION, not "racism". Let's start using the correct term. "Racism" is nothing more than a political and legal fallacy.
I'm sick of hearing stories about unemployed single mother's with 57 kids complaining about their benefits. If you're dirt poor and stupid do yourself and the world a favour and dont have children.
i'm a single male on benefits due to ill health ;iving in the north of england and recieve 92 pounds a week in benefits for rent but women like that really do piss me off, the complaining and using the children as an excuse for everything, far too many do that, un like me who is ill and cannot help that, women have the choice to have children or not, don't have four children if you can't provide for them, women think having children is mandatory but these days you have to consider it
Why does the Government owe anyone a house, and why can't "the poor" improve themselves and become "the rich" - take responsibility people and stop seeing yourselves as victims, You're only hurting yourselves when you think that way-
And the flat screen tv says it all......... Stop this madness we wont pay for her and her 5 children any more..... Why why why cant we pay people not to have children instead?
@crbower It's a vicious circle; many, many people still have this idea that more children means more benefits, and it does to a certain extent. Then they turn around and complain that they have to struggle to care for their large family. Even in this modern day and age, people don't think of the second greatest threat: OVER-POPULATION.
According to the latest projections, the UK population will reach 71.6 million by 2033 (Office for National Statistics).
MigrationWatch UK, an anti-immigration lobby group, insists that governments have lost control over national borders, resulting in “immigration on a scale that is placing huge strain on our public services, housing, environment, society and quality of life”. So how many is too many?
@mw18g What is irrefutable is that the highest concentration of black immigrants is in London and that around 40% of some areas are poor black immigrants, and that the highest levels of crime in the UK are in these areas. There is a clear connection between immigrants, poverty and crime. And with that comes welfare dependency and the high cost to the tax-payer. To suggest there is no connection to these issues and that these people are contributing positively is absurd.
@mw18g For every high rate tax-paying immigrant, there's probably 10 or 20 non-tax paying immigrants like this woman in the video. And then there's the problem of those wealthy foreign immigrants who want to enjoy the fruits of the UK and have homes and businesses here, yet don't want to pay taxes and use off-shore and non-domiciled status. All of this needs looking at closely and those foreigners who are costing the UK tax-payer money or not paying into the system, dealt with accordingly.
@mw18g I'm not so sure about your statement "overall immigrants make a positive net contribution to the nations GDP" I think this needs backing up with statistics and careful examination. In some areas, I suspect the opposite is the case and they're drain rather than a positive contribution. And why are so reliant on foreign immigrants to do those skilled jobs? Why are there skills shortages? Could it be the lack of education, training and support for our own 2-4 million unemployed?
@terrapyn99 How utterly ridiculous to suggest a landlord should be forced to accept a fixed rent. It's his property he can charge what the hell he likes. Besides this is London, property costs, and thus rents, are far higher than anywhere else in the UK, as our living costs.
@Quiltinguk I absolutely couldn't agree with you more on this and no doubt many others are sick of the media bias sob stories. No doubt you saw the ridiculous display by Channel 4 News last night which I will put up shortly. This is just totally unacceptable that ordinary hardworking tax-payers are paying up to £50k a rent out of their taxes for the likes of people who are simply living beyond their means, and many are foreigners who shouldn't even be here at all if they can't pay their way.
@Quiltinguk As you said, there are plenty of other towns and cities available for people to relocate to, if need be, and often it's just a case of moving them short distances out of the city centers and into the suburbs. To suggest these people will be in hostels, B&Bs or even homeless with kids in care etc, is just totally nonsense and media hysteria.
I wonder if this coalition know quite well of the consequences such a policy would bring to poor families in London.
A one bedroom unfurnished flat in a poor part of east London costs £280-£310 a week, if the policy is enacted, then a person in minimum wage - with a young family, could not maintain a living.
The coalition's solution to the one who is already at the lowest degree in housing, is to what exactly?
Answer: Like cattle, force the poor to another to another part of UK. Disgusting.
@mo98183 In the first place, immigrants like this who can't support themselves without living off the state should not even be here. Secondly, why should taxpayers subsidise their lifestyle and pay for them to live in upmarket privately rented homes in better areas of London? These people need to live within their means and if that means being relocated to a cheap council house across the country, so be it. If they want somewhere better, they will have to work for it like the rest of us do.
@BritainDivided "if that means being relocated to a cheap council house across the country, so be it".
You don't have a clue about the real world, do you? The waiting lists for social housing are oversubscribed throughout the UK. In what regions are their an abundance of vacant "council" houses that you suggest this woman should move to?
This woman goes out to work to support her family like the rest of us do.
@terrapyn99 Where I live, there are plenty of vacant council houses, particularly flats, I have seen them with my own eyes. Maybe it's you who don't have experience of the "real world". The situation with regards to housing waiting lists needs to be re-thought out in view of the need to relocate these housing benefit parasites into cheaper properties. Obviously families with children should be given highest priority. Too many people are given council properties who don't need them.
@terrapyn99 As for the woman in the video working, she's living BEYOND HER MEANS if she cannot afford to pay the rent on her home. Why should tax-payers like myself subsidise her? It's an outrage, and a situation that cannot be allowed to continue.
@BritainDivided Where do you live? In my home town of Leicester there is a phenomenal waiting list for social housing. Boarded up flats are empty for a reason, usually because the local authority can't afford to bring them up to standard.
With London rents for poor areas at between £280-£310 a week how do minimum wage earners afford to live anywhere?
You sound like the type of person that wants to bring back the workhouse.
@terrapyn99 No doubt there is a housing shortage in many areas and some properties are in poor condition and not habitable. We definitely need more affordable housing available and less speculation in the housing market which has driven prices up way too high during Labour's 10-year mishandling of the economy. People who can't afford to pay the cheap rents in London shouldn't be in London, it's as simple as that. London is not a cheap city for poor people. People have to live within their means
@BritainDivided You're spot on about unfettered housing speculation and lack of affordable housing. If you blame the last government how is the new coalition going to repair it?
Your suggestion that: "People who can't afford to pay the cheap rents in London shouldn't be in London" is ridiculous.
Where do you suggest that all the shop workers, cleaners, care assistants and catering staff who work in London live?
How do you suggest that London would run without these workers?
@terrapyn99 That is a good question, concerning the new government's approach to the housing shortage question. Everyone is saying "build more affordable housing" but I'm not sure how realistic that option is in the current economic climate, and I think it will only ease the housing problem short-term and won't solve the fundamental problems that need addressing, namely, speculation and overcrowding. I don't think there is one fix-all option, we need to look at a broad range of options.
@terrapyn99 You're taking what I said too literally, I didn't mean take all the poor people completely out of London, I meant just relocate them to the cheaper areas, or into the London suburbs. I'm sure there are plenty of low earners who manage to get by and will continue to do so even with the housing benefit cap. The problem is those like the woman in the video who are simply living way beyond their means, in a property they could never ever afford without excessive housing benefit.
@terrapyn99 This also comes back to the question we have been debating about making more affordable housing available. Areas like London should be an immediate priority for these initiatives because this is where we can make the biggest immediate savings to the tax-payer.
@terrapyn99 The woman in the video is a care assistant... she could do that job anywhere in the UK. She doesn't need to live and work in London. And if she left her job, there's bound to be someone else to fill it who can afford to live in London. Likewise for shop-workers and many other unskilled jobs. With retirement age increasing and people working longer, many old people who own their own homes can fill these jobs and ease the burden on the state while contributing to the economy.
@terrapyn99 The whole problem of loads of poor people (particularly immigrants) concentrated in London was created by Labour, this is what has caused the present situation, the housing shortages and high prices. Immigration has been far too high and there's been no common sense policy in vetting the type of people coming to live in the UK and where they are placed. This coupled with the ridiculous lapse welfare policies has created the present mess we now face and must sort out.
@mo98183 Plenty of people manage in other parts of the country on a minimum wage in council rented properties without claiming benefits. The key problem here is the concentration of foreign immigrants in London and other people who are simply living well beyond their means thanks to Labour's creation of the inflated welfare "something for nothing" society. People who can't afford to live in London should not be there, it's that simple.
@BritainDivided I agree that there is high concentration of people living in cities, that is not a unique phenomena, rather that cities usually attract all types of people, for jobs and wealth creation. It is also true that rent prices in larger cities are relatively higher than in other parts of Britain, but that is due to the effects of free market economics.
@BritainDivided Sir, you would be surprised to know that many long-term immigrants i.e. second and third generation immigrants may actually agree with you on the levels of immigrants being allowed to live in Britain under the previous government.
Simply too many people have been allowed citizenship, that is the view of many people I personally know.
@mo98183 That does not surprise me in the least you know. It's been sheer madness the handling of immigration under Labour over the past 14 years. Everyone suffers as a result, not just indigenous people, but those people you mention who came here for a better quality of life and who have worked hard and paid into the system, but find themselves living into squalid ghettos and paying high prices.
I go to my local Sainsburys, which is a huge store, and all I see is people where both parents cannot speak English, raising kids with very little social values, and who are growing up to become societies problems of tomorrow, whether it be anti-social behaviour and attitude towards education.
@BritainDivided Unfortunately, most people I see are people of my own kind, who had been given citizenship en mass. Even now, my friends and I, who are third generation immigrants still talk of the "good old days" when there weren't so many our people living in Britain.
They were better times for us, and better times for the indigenous populations I suppose too, although I recall my grandfather talking of tension when they first arrived, over 50 years ago.
@BritainDivided Why should the poor people, who have lived in London all their lives - not extreme examples of those that may have recently immigrated, pay the price of speculative buyers of the property market, the inflate rent prices and house prices in general?
Even in traditionally poor parts of London, rent prices are unaffordable due to this trend, and capping it would compound an already difficult problem.
@mo98183 I would argue that those people are not just paying the price of market speculators but also of Labour's mishandling of immigration and overcrowding of cities. People like you say, who have lived in a particular town or city all their lives, find themselves being forced to move because of the overcrowding, lack of housing and high cost of renting. It's all connected and related.
@mo98183 We have a ridiculous situation where people from all over Europe can simply move to London, and you find houses are rented by groups of people who all share and live together which then takes housing away from local people and forces rents up. We also have had persistently high levels of mass immigration from third world countries into London. We have an estimated 1 million plus illegal immigrants in the UK, mostly in London that need removing, yet no clear policy or means to do it.
my dad came here form africa in the 80's married my mum in the 90's. we lived in a 4 bedroom for 13 years paid rent and then moved to better part of islington and 800 pounds a month. my parents find it disgraeful that immigrants come to islington and mayfair etc. and rent houses. my dad worked for 13 years before he thought he could afford to move these people dont THINK.
slightsociopath 1 day ago
I have a question of all the citizens of these richer countries, Europe and N America.
Why does it seem to me that you easily provide residency to unqualified immigrants, who clearly can not earn a good living without govt assistance, then you complain. For instance, some of us here, including myself in the USA, have a PhD and two masters in Math and Engineering but we have to leave after some time. I don't mind because I will go entrepreneurial. It just seems like u want cheap labor, slaves.
GhGuBeUS 2 days ago
@GhGuBeUS You are not making the distinction between government and people. People complain, and rightly so, because as tax-payers we pick up the bill. We are not consulted on immigration and most people are against it. The government has its own agenda and poor policies that fail to take into account the wishes and future of the indigenous population. We're fighting back. Those politicians will have a limited future.
BritainDivided 2 days ago
@BritainDivided What you are saying makes sense. Its important to distinguish between the government and the people. I am just saddened that people from parts of the world, including the part that I am originally from (Africa and the Caribbean) have to run to these 1st world countries like UK and US to beg for jobs and residency. It would be nice if our governments were not greedy dictators and I think this problem would be eliminated. It truly saddens me.
GhGuBeUS 1 day ago
@GhGuBeUS Yes indeed that is a part of the problem. It's a shame those people can't make a decent life in their own countries among their own people. The burden on small countries like the UK is too great and we can't keep taking in people who have a poor standard of living in their own countries and so want to jump ship for a better life here. That comes at the expense of British people which is not fair. We should do something with the British Commonwealth, restart British Empire.
BritainDivided 1 day ago
@GhGuBeUS If those countries can't be governed properly then Britain could provide governance and administration for them like we did in the days of the British Empire. Many countries were much better off and countries in Africa would benefit greatly from proper investment and infrastructure, industrialisation which would bring prosperity and stability to many areas of the world.
BritainDivided 1 day ago
Rent is 690 pounds per week, for that house. England sounds ridiculous.
GhGuBeUS 2 days ago
@GhGuBeUS That's in one of the most exclusive parts of London, the capital city and most expensive place to live in UK. It's ridiculous you're right, that someone who isn't even making a positive net contribution to UK economy is living there and subsidised by tax-payers.
BritainDivided 2 days ago
How the FUCK can this unskilled, Caribbean baby-maker, A foreign national, a NON-EU national i might add, come here and be eligible for benefits?
This country is like the fucking Twilight ZONE!
wank0r 2 days ago
@dashwood123 This woman wasn't born in Islington or even born in this country. If she can't support herself, she shouldn't be here, that's the bottom line. Why should other tax-payers support people like her? Would you expect people in her native country to support you and your £800 a house over there? Why is it then you think Britain should and is a charity? We're not a charity. New laws coming in 2016 will mean no-one without a degree and £35k salary can settle in UK.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@dashwood123 The big picture is this.. we have far too much immigration, we've had no quality control over that immigration, and now we're having to deal with the problems of that, like this case here. This is bad governance sure, but not the kind you're talking about. I never mention "race". If she was skilled and educated and earning a proper living, we wouldn't be having any discussion.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
That's total hogwash and you know it. This country is full of opportunities and education is FREE for people on low income like her. There's no excuse. If you want the lifestyle and Islington house, you have to EARN it. We're in financial limbo and the first thing we should be doing is removing all the dead wood and getting rid of any immigrants who are not a net contributor.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@dashwood123 I CAN and I DO blame her. She's sitting on television moaning about having to move to into Council accommodation more fitting to her circumstances instead of living in a house far beyond her means, which she seems to expect the tax-payer to pick up the bill for. That's just taking the piss and unacceptable, as you can see from the strength of feeling of other tax-payers here. She should get an education and start earning a proper living like rest of us.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
This woman is working, not totally reliant on benefits, most of the working age population gets some form of benefit, child benefits, reduced council tax, family tax credits. The real problem is the cost of living going up while wages remain static. The government and banks are responsible for this. They forced the cost of housing up by doing dodgy deals on property, and when it went tits up, tax payers had to bail them out. Some idiots on hear blame the poor black woman for this, WTF!
dashwood123 4 days ago
@dashwood123 That's a disingenuous comment. Shes supported far more than shes earning, therefore she's an economic burden on the state. Although benefits are designed to support families, you're not supposed to be a burden to the state. She's living well beyond her means supported by the tax-payer in housing that she wouldn't otherwise be able to afford. Shes got a large family she cannot support. It's nothing to do with banks or government, its solely down to her.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@BritainDivided What a load of bollocks, she wouldn't be a burden on anyone if the state wasn't so corrupt, its not her fault that she earns piss poor wages. She can't vote herself a massive pay rise like MP's. She is being ripped off from every angle, benefits meant to make up the short fall in wages are being reduced, the company she works for won't pay a living wage, and the government wants to make her homeless.
dashwood123 4 days ago
@dashwood123 I have no sympathy whatsoever.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@BritainDivided Put it this way, I have an interest in self preservation. Being in the bracket of low wage earners, that could be me next.
dashwood123 4 days ago
@dashwood123 Then you need to work harder and smarter to get yourself out of the low wage bracket.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@BritainDivided Its not working harder that makes you rich, being born on the right side of the fence helps, the you can sit on your arse while everyone else does the work for you.
dashwood123 4 days ago
@dashwood123 As I said, this is a country full of opportunities for people willing to take them.. we have the best education institutions in the world and free higher education for low earners. It's the best country to start a business in, and there's no shortage of things you can do if you set your mind to it. You have to take responsibility for yourself. It's easy to say oh I was born on the wrong side of the fence, or oh the government and banks are rich and I'm not etc.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@dashwood123 It's you who is talking bollocks. Nobody is making her homeless. The government have told her shes going to be moved into a house she can AFFORD which is no longer subsided to the tune of £800 a week by the taxpayer. If her wages are too low, try she should try getting an education and some skills. Thats down to HER. Shes getting free housing and benefits to support a family she cannot afford, and you're telling me shes hard done by? FUCK OFF
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@BritainDivided You clearly do not understand the implications this has for the working class as a whole, so I will leave it at that.
dashwood123 4 days ago
@dashwood123 The working class will be far better off not having to support people like her I can assure you. We need to seriously drastically reduce our immigration burden and we'll see a rise in our own standard of living. The country is overcrowded and weighed down with benefit drainers like this woman. If you can't pull your weight, you're gone. Thats how it is in US, that's how it should be here.
BritainDivided 4 days ago
@dashwood123 If we had a proper government in power she'd be on the next plane out of here, let alone moving house!

BritainDivided 5 days ago
@CI2A1Gx Not only that, shes a living a lifestyle in a location/house that is way beyond her means...as you said, funded by you and I, the tax-payers.
BritainDivided 4 weeks ago
@FreedomFighterUK We as citizens have seriously got to tackle this problem and get to grips with the politicians responsible eh. They're spending OUR money, giving OUR money away to other people against our wishes and without our consent. That strikes me as being unconstitutional and undemocratic. A government should serve the interests of its OWN people first and foremost, above all else. I'm sure people who voted didn't agree to pay for other peoples lifestyles.

block1385 1 month ago 2
@block1385 Yeah exactly. This country is just very badly governed. At the moment it rewards ANYONE for having children with benefits without considering education or qualifications. Clearly this woman is uneducated/unskilled and is not making a positive contribution to the economy, but instead is a burden. These people need to be disincentivized from having large families, and only those people who can afford to support their families and make a positive contribution rewarded.
BritainDivided 4 weeks ago 2
Why doesn't she move then to a cheaper location ?
pranabnaik 1 month ago
@pranabnaik She says she can't because shes used to that area and her children have friends there and like the school they go to. There's a simple answer to that, tough. If you can't afford to live in that area from your own earnings then you have no business being there. You cannot expect tax-payers to support your lifestyle and you have to live within your means, just as the rest of us who WORK and pay taxes have to. Nobody subsidies our lifestyle eh.

Same question applies to the Hordes of fucking Bangladeshis, Indians, Pakistanis, Africans, South Americans, Asians.. etc etc
wank0r 1 month ago 3
@wank0r You're right, WHY are these people being allowed entry? That is the question we need to be asking. They are lacking any skills and education, clearly unable to support themselves or the large families they tend to have, so why bring such people here only to add to our economic burden? It seems to defy any logic. There is just no "quality control" on immigration it seems and it's run more as a charity than a serious immigration policy that puts the interests of Britain first.

before the benefit cap single mothers with nine children were getting £70+k a year, we need a disincentive to stop scroungers giving birth to many more scroungers so the general taxpayer pays for people to have more children, the only reason middle class families (ones just above the benefit threshold) dont have children is becuase they A work for a living and B becuase they cant afford it.

defnoxs 2 months ago
@defnoxs You're right, if we restricted benefits only to people who have lived in the UK for more than 30 years or born to parents who have, that would mean no newly immigrants would ever be entitled to benefits and even illegal immigrants who manage to stay here and have children wouldn't be either. It would be a major disincentive for immigrants thinking of coming here. A sound policy, so why doesn't the gov implement something like that!

@crbower It's a vicious circle; many, many people still have this idea that more children means more benefits, and it does to a certain extent. Then they turn around and complain that they have to struggle to care for their large family. Even in this modern day and age, people don't think of the second greatest threat: OVER-POPULATION.
Re9ap9er9 1 year ago 3
@crbower LOL true but she willl still get benefits

Britain is the most populous country in EU.
Quiltinguk 1 year ago
I do feel that England is full up. Just look at how congested the M 25 is!
.
We urgently need a policy control the population explosion.
6 million - Britain's population around the time of the English civil war
42 million Britain's population in 1945
62 million 2010

@mw18g What is irrefutable is that the highest concentration of black immigrants is in London and that around 40% of some areas are poor black immigrants, and that the highest levels of crime in the UK are in these areas. There is a clear connection between immigrants, poverty and crime. And with that comes welfare dependency and the high cost to the tax-payer. To suggest there is no connection to these issues and that these people are contributing positively is absurd.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@mw18g For every high rate tax-paying immigrant, there's probably 10 or 20 non-tax paying immigrants like this woman in the video. And then there's the problem of those wealthy foreign immigrants who want to enjoy the fruits of the UK and have homes and businesses here, yet don't want to pay taxes and use off-shore and non-domiciled status. All of this needs looking at closely and those foreigners who are costing the UK tax-payer money or not paying into the system, dealt with accordingly.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@mw18g I'm not so sure about your statement "overall immigrants make a positive net contribution to the nations GDP" I think this needs backing up with statistics and careful examination. In some areas, I suspect the opposite is the case and they're drain rather than a positive contribution. And why are so reliant on foreign immigrants to do those skilled jobs? Why are there skills shortages? Could it be the lack of education, training and support for our own 2-4 million unemployed?
BritainDivided 1 year ago
£400 a week is plenty of rent for the house that this woman lives in. The greedy bastard landlord should be made to accept £400.
terrapyn99 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 How utterly ridiculous to suggest a landlord should be forced to accept a fixed rent. It's his property he can charge what the hell he likes. Besides this is London, property costs, and thus rents, are far higher than anywhere else in the UK, as our living costs.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
The tax payers cannot afford to pay these excessive bills.
If London is too expensive they will have to live somewhere else.
What's wrong with Nottingham, Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester? Nothing.
The media's bias reporting of sob stories is so irritating.
The voting public do not want to fund 'life style'
Quiltinguk 1 year ago 4
@Quiltinguk I absolutely couldn't agree with you more on this and no doubt many others are sick of the media bias sob stories. No doubt you saw the ridiculous display by Channel 4 News last night which I will put up shortly. This is just totally unacceptable that ordinary hardworking tax-payers are paying up to £50k a rent out of their taxes for the likes of people who are simply living beyond their means, and many are foreigners who shouldn't even be here at all if they can't pay their way.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@Quiltinguk As you said, there are plenty of other towns and cities available for people to relocate to, if need be, and often it's just a case of moving them short distances out of the city centers and into the suburbs. To suggest these people will be in hostels, B&Bs or even homeless with kids in care etc, is just totally nonsense and media hysteria.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
I wonder if this coalition know quite well of the consequences such a policy would bring to poor families in London.
A one bedroom unfurnished flat in a poor part of east London costs £280-£310 a week, if the policy is enacted, then a person in minimum wage - with a young family, could not maintain a living.
The coalition's solution to the one who is already at the lowest degree in housing, is to what exactly?
Answer: Like cattle, force the poor to another to another part of UK. Disgusting.
mo98183 1 year ago
@mo98183 In the first place, immigrants like this who can't support themselves without living off the state should not even be here. Secondly, why should taxpayers subsidise their lifestyle and pay for them to live in upmarket privately rented homes in better areas of London? These people need to live within their means and if that means being relocated to a cheap council house across the country, so be it. If they want somewhere better, they will have to work for it like the rest of us do.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided "if that means being relocated to a cheap council house across the country, so be it".
You don't have a clue about the real world, do you? The waiting lists for social housing are oversubscribed throughout the UK. In what regions are their an abundance of vacant "council" houses that you suggest this woman should move to?
This woman goes out to work to support her family like the rest of us do.
terrapyn99 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 Where I live, there are plenty of vacant council houses, particularly flats, I have seen them with my own eyes. Maybe it's you who don't have experience of the "real world". The situation with regards to housing waiting lists needs to be re-thought out in view of the need to relocate these housing benefit parasites into cheaper properties. Obviously families with children should be given highest priority. Too many people are given council properties who don't need them.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 As for the woman in the video working, she's living BEYOND HER MEANS if she cannot afford to pay the rent on her home. Why should tax-payers like myself subsidise her? It's an outrage, and a situation that cannot be allowed to continue.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided Where do you live? In my home town of Leicester there is a phenomenal waiting list for social housing. Boarded up flats are empty for a reason, usually because the local authority can't afford to bring them up to standard.
With London rents for poor areas at between £280-£310 a week how do minimum wage earners afford to live anywhere?
You sound like the type of person that wants to bring back the workhouse.
terrapyn99 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 No doubt there is a housing shortage in many areas and some properties are in poor condition and not habitable. We definitely need more affordable housing available and less speculation in the housing market which has driven prices up way too high during Labour's 10-year mishandling of the economy. People who can't afford to pay the cheap rents in London shouldn't be in London, it's as simple as that. London is not a cheap city for poor people. People have to live within their means
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided You're spot on about unfettered housing speculation and lack of affordable housing. If you blame the last government how is the new coalition going to repair it?
Your suggestion that: "People who can't afford to pay the cheap rents in London shouldn't be in London" is ridiculous.
Where do you suggest that all the shop workers, cleaners, care assistants and catering staff who work in London live?
How do you suggest that London would run without these workers?
terrapyn99 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 That is a good question, concerning the new government's approach to the housing shortage question. Everyone is saying "build more affordable housing" but I'm not sure how realistic that option is in the current economic climate, and I think it will only ease the housing problem short-term and won't solve the fundamental problems that need addressing, namely, speculation and overcrowding. I don't think there is one fix-all option, we need to look at a broad range of options.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 You're taking what I said too literally, I didn't mean take all the poor people completely out of London, I meant just relocate them to the cheaper areas, or into the London suburbs. I'm sure there are plenty of low earners who manage to get by and will continue to do so even with the housing benefit cap. The problem is those like the woman in the video who are simply living way beyond their means, in a property they could never ever afford without excessive housing benefit.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 This also comes back to the question we have been debating about making more affordable housing available. Areas like London should be an immediate priority for these initiatives because this is where we can make the biggest immediate savings to the tax-payer.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 The woman in the video is a care assistant... she could do that job anywhere in the UK. She doesn't need to live and work in London. And if she left her job, there's bound to be someone else to fill it who can afford to live in London. Likewise for shop-workers and many other unskilled jobs. With retirement age increasing and people working longer, many old people who own their own homes can fill these jobs and ease the burden on the state while contributing to the economy.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@terrapyn99 The whole problem of loads of poor people (particularly immigrants) concentrated in London was created by Labour, this is what has caused the present situation, the housing shortages and high prices. Immigration has been far too high and there's been no common sense policy in vetting the type of people coming to live in the UK and where they are placed. This coupled with the ridiculous lapse welfare policies has created the present mess we now face and must sort out.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@mo98183 Plenty of people manage in other parts of the country on a minimum wage in council rented properties without claiming benefits. The key problem here is the concentration of foreign immigrants in London and other people who are simply living well beyond their means thanks to Labour's creation of the inflated welfare "something for nothing" society. People who can't afford to live in London should not be there, it's that simple.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided I agree that there is high concentration of people living in cities, that is not a unique phenomena, rather that cities usually attract all types of people, for jobs and wealth creation. It is also true that rent prices in larger cities are relatively higher than in other parts of Britain, but that is due to the effects of free market economics.
mo98183 1 year ago
@mo98183 yeah but you're missing the key word..IMMIGRANTS.. a high concentration of immigrants, along with crime, poverty and high welfare cost.
BritainDivided 1 year ago 2
@BritainDivided Sir, you would be surprised to know that many long-term immigrants i.e. second and third generation immigrants may actually agree with you on the levels of immigrants being allowed to live in Britain under the previous government.
Simply too many people have been allowed citizenship, that is the view of many people I personally know.
mo98183 1 year ago
@mo98183 That does not surprise me in the least you know. It's been sheer madness the handling of immigration under Labour over the past 14 years. Everyone suffers as a result, not just indigenous people, but those people you mention who came here for a better quality of life and who have worked hard and paid into the system, but find themselves living into squalid ghettos and paying high prices.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided Yes, very true.
I go to my local Sainsburys, which is a huge store, and all I see is people where both parents cannot speak English, raising kids with very little social values, and who are growing up to become societies problems of tomorrow, whether it be anti-social behaviour and attitude towards education.
mo98183 1 year ago
@BritainDivided Unfortunately, most people I see are people of my own kind, who had been given citizenship en mass. Even now, my friends and I, who are third generation immigrants still talk of the "good old days" when there weren't so many our people living in Britain.
They were better times for us, and better times for the indigenous populations I suppose too, although I recall my grandfather talking of tension when they first arrived, over 50 years ago.
mo98183 1 year ago
@BritainDivided Why should the poor people, who have lived in London all their lives - not extreme examples of those that may have recently immigrated, pay the price of speculative buyers of the property market, the inflate rent prices and house prices in general?
Even in traditionally poor parts of London, rent prices are unaffordable due to this trend, and capping it would compound an already difficult problem.
mo98183 1 year ago
@mo98183 I would argue that those people are not just paying the price of market speculators but also of Labour's mishandling of immigration and overcrowding of cities. People like you say, who have lived in a particular town or city all their lives, find themselves being forced to move because of the overcrowding, lack of housing and high cost of renting. It's all connected and related.
BritainDivided 1 year ago
@BritainDivided I agree, immigration is a problem, and is hurting everyone, including existing immigrants themselves.
However, the current cap is still draconian and will affect everyone, including working people of all races and classes.
mo98183 1 year ago
@mo98183 We have a ridiculous situation where people from all over Europe can simply move to London, and you find houses are rented by groups of people who all share and live together which then takes housing away from local people and forces rents up. We also have had persistently high levels of mass immigration from third world countries into London. We have an estimated 1 million plus illegal immigrants in the UK, mostly in London that need removing, yet no clear policy or means to do it.
