I have rode 2816 many time including a few cab rides waht a wonderfull piece of mechinery I hope the CP brings her back this year I allready am recieveing invites to do a ride in September
I hear that CP 2816 will be out of service for 2009 apparentlyy undergoing some needed servicing. It is to be hoped that she'll return, economy permitting!
True.. one can argue that they really should be using coal but... hey.. I will take steam any way I can get it even if it means that they have to throw a showelful of sand in to the firebox now and again to keep the pipes clean
Some great footage here of that fine locomotive. During its cross Canada trip, I had the priveledge of seeing it during a stop in London, Ontario in early June of that year.
You are right about that. The maiden run was in 2001 after the refit in North Vancouver. The trip I took was a prelude to a cross country run the same year.
i thought the 2816 was re-aquired by CP in 1998 and her maiden run was in 2001? the royal hudson is in operation (though with CN's "fuck off" mentality to steam she won't be running anytime soon) not to sound rude or anything.
