How did you get project 64 working in vbox? When I run the program it says Direct3D failed to initialize your HAL device etc.
No roms run, none of the default graphics plugins run. I was under the impression that once you install guest additions vbox would have simple graphics capabilities.
You need to use OpenGL plugins. OpenGL isn't the same as Direct3D - we have had OpenGL inside VMs for quite a while.
If you want Direct3D support you need DirectX 8.1 (NOT 9!) inside VMWare (or VirtualBox) with experimental DX support enabled. In my experience, even though the experimental support claims to be for DX9; it only seems to work for me with DX 8.1.
Virtualisation doesn't traditionally offer 3D. Not even Virtual PC does it correctly (lol@Windows 7 "XP Mode").

Thanks, I had given up on this until now.
Will these openGL plugins install easily inside vbox, or do I need VM specific openGL plugins.
Sorry if I come off retarded. Im not familiar with openGL or VM's.

You have to select a checkbox in the VirtualBox settings. it isn't enabled by default.

how do you make the virtual box larger??

@ForNarnia987 Best way to do that is to change the resolution of the guest OS.

OpenGL is an interface, not a program.
Usually your graphics card driver provides an OpenGL server for OpenGL client programs to connect to.

directx support would be nice

They have future plans for emulating direct3d with openlgl.
Plus VMware already has support for direct3d, but none for opengl
