English pensioners to lose 1/2 price coach travel concession (03Sept11)

I suppose the govt doesnt realise just how many old age pensioners in thsi country, catch buses, to stay warm, because they catn afford the heating bills.

Why do you think that buses are always full of old people ?

NO - they are staying warm, because its one of the few places they can do that !

Given the number of cuts to front-line services and benefits, I wonder how many quangos are getting the cut? There are easily twice as many quangos as people who actually do something useful.

Stay in your town... forget owning your own home... pray the state will feed you and provide you health care in your old age. If your're lucky enough to get back from the shop without being mugged by gangs of feral kids. Wait in your flat... cold... hungry... scared and lonely until you die.

Why SHOULD people get half price travel? It's not a 'human right'. Subsidies are merely wealth transfers from taxpayers to special interest groups. Scrap them all!

@liarpoliticians Happily! IMO Coach travel is a more open/transparent market than the railways, which have opaque responsibilities and pricing between multiple commercial organisations. So there should be even less justification for coach ticket subsidies..
