o. k.... i just stoped by..Duane would not have played it this way at all..i mean at all..it's an o. k. piece but a lot of slide players can do this rendition..no kidding ..I would love to hear him play it and by the grace of God I will cause he's with Jesus.and .you couldn't have got his talent anywhere else..!!
i'm man avid collector of the allman brothers and i have never heard this song by either allman bros i have to agree with the above beerisfuel this is not Duane allman its a good rendition of the song but not of allman quality and the time isn't right for the recording sorry man but props or the song just the same
Duane died so young, that is not fair, i mean y dont 50 cent or akon or eminem.......and the other assholes keep to live, so that we keep hearing their shit
I don't know who's playing, but I do know I like it. It's as beautiful a rendition of this song as I've ever heard. That includes Jeff Beck and Sarah Jory.
There's a place we lovingly take this and it's Father Duffy Square NYC. He's the faith of the the street. He's behind the fighting 69th. They made this town.
I think we would have heard this a long long time ago if it was an authentic Duane Allman piece, even if he did it on his front porch, someone woulda found a way to make a buck off it, so I agree, take it down if it's not for real him. If you want to hear beautiful Amazing grace like this one take listen to Jeff Beck's Amazing Grace....yeah this is beautiful but get it labled right for who it is.
P.S. Has it EVER accurred to any of you, that it could be the other way around. Since Duane was long since dead when Bellar's bluegrass album was recorded. How do know that the guy who edited Bellar's album, didn't like Duane's bluegrass version and steal his? Unless you are related to either, or you wre in the studio. He's played w/ two broken strings and kept goin'.
10 yrs. ago they gave a GRAMMY to 2 guys. Then found out they had been lip-sinking to someone else's music the whole time.
You dumb??? Don't you know what the name of this song is? For your info it is called Amazing Grace!! He did get it right, and if you don't like it, lump it!!
@muggelbornnow When I found the video - the title said it was Duane Allman. ALl the comments say that it is not Duane Allman - so that was what I was refering to - someone has updated the title since my comment.
And you might try using some common courtesy - I certainly intended no harm,
Duane Allman has been dead 40 years today. We love you Duane. You are the god of slide guitar. No one will ever touch your skill even with a glass bottle of coricidin
! This is Johnny Bellar playing the Dobro, Have the CD I purchased from him in person, called "It is well with my soul" . I brought in person at Dave Foxx's Reso Summit in 2010 located in Brantley, Al. It is not Duane Allman's playing period. Johnny is a awesome dobro & guitar player. Thanks Rick
! This is Johnny Bellar playing the Dobro, Have the CD I purchased from him in person, called It is well with my soul in person at Dave Foxx's Reso Summit in 2010 located in Brantley, Al.
Doing some research, I found out that this version of Amazing Grace is played by Johnny Bellar, not Duane Allman. You can hear it on You Tube, "Johnny Bellar Amazing Grace.
It's NOT Duane Allman, style and vibrato not his by a long shot. Beautiful performance non the less, and sweet to hear. But don't post what it's not!!
I have to agree, this doesn't seem like Duane in style or sound. It's a nice recording. It sounds like a square neck Dobro the way those grace notes are done.
That's not Duane. Recording quality is far too good.. And I don't delieve anyone was producing an acoustic trem system in the late sixties. Vibrato's all wrong, and the slide is obviously metal, not coricidin. This tuning is open G, not his standard 'e'. Dreams was the only one in standrad. This is a beautiful, skillful rendition of the song, but it is NOT Duane.
@beerisfuel Agree, it's not even close to how Duane would have played it. Funny how people want to pass something generic off as Duane's work. It's really not that good of a rendition quite frankly.
BEAUTIFUL SOUND AND RARE TO HEAR DUANE PLAYING THESE KIND OF SONGS HE CERTAINLY HAD AN EAR FOR THE SOUND OF GUITAR I AM SO GLAD HE USED HIS TALENT TO THE FULLEST IN THE SHORT TIME HE WAS HERE WE ALL MISS YOU DUANE I WILL USED THIS WHEN MY FATHER PASS ON TO PARADISE
@0819Marlene it's johnny bellar. it doesn't even sound like duane. and you won't find me giving credit to clapton for anything that was duane's on layla and other love songs. why does love got to be so sad is by far the best lead on the album, and it's all duane.

Don't think it's Duane. Production way to clean. Doesn't sound like anything else from that era.
