While you've decided to make yourself a critic of war footage take note to this... when the terrorists make a video of attacking us... they are praising God and then may go shoot survivors in the head or cut their head off making sure all is dead... when we attack the enemy... we go over pull out the survivors and render aid. Not being an American you will not understand the motivation of a video like this to another Marine or soldier.

But it's the recurring problem of US boys in Iraq - you went there to liberate the country from Saddam and to establish a Islamic democracy. That doesn't seem to be the focus of this video. Make sure you don't bail out of Iraq, with things in media res, just to come back in another 20 years.

You're being a little harsh and stereotypical there, it's not true any more than the stereotype that all Americans are overweight. British forces are fighting in Iraq alongside the Americans, one of my childhood friends was killed there and another school mate is fighting there as I type these words. The worst aspect of war videos is that they put in music. Doesn't matter whose video it is, the music always distorts the picture.
So the terrorist videos have some ugly chanting in them, making the videos look like music videos for a 'war folk' genre.
US boys put in shite rock pieces, as if those vids were trailers for a new action movie.
Even the WWII vids have music that makes the whole thing watch more like an operette.
Hard to admit that it's reality, innit?

While you've decided to make yourself a critic of war footage take note to this... when the terrorists make a video of attacking us... they are praising God and then may go shoot survivors in the head or cut their head off making sure all is dead... when we attack the enemy... we go over pull out the survivors and render aid. Not being an American you will not understand the motivation of a video like this to another Marine or soldier.

Don't get me wrong. I DO understand the motivation behind a video of this sort, which doesn't mean I have to support it. It's good, very good footage, I have to give you that. But it's the recurring problem of US boys in Iraq - you went there to liberate the country from Saddam and to establish a Islamic democracy. That doesn't seem to be the focus of this video. Make sure you don't bail out of Iraq, with things in media res, just to come back in another 20 years.

Okay I gotcha... true this was meant to be more of a motivational video than an educational video. I'm actually going through some more pics on my husband's computer to make one than lean towards that way. And true about going back... if the first Bush had not tried to run the war from the White House and instead let the military run it... Swartzkoff would have been sure my Gunny didn't need to be in Iraq at this moment. Though after 9-11 he still would have been activated somewhere.

Music generally detracts from the video, and ends up being a silly MTV sort of way to slant video content.
This one however is different. This appears to be from a combat veteran. This one is from the experience and the heart. The music is the veteran's choice, demands respect.
The result is powerful and moving.
