That's some proper driving right there, they should have kept the cars without traction control, would have been much more exciting to drive and to watch at the same time.
Wow the comment below is clear example of someone blindfolded by propaganda in this case MS´s propaganda. How this user can ask for the prove of JPM being quiker over MS, during his supremacy years at FIDDLE-rrari & acomplices,is beyond believe.Oh no "BMW had a faster engine"..? puaf. Also funny how it does count when it comes to numbers for JPM,who produce some of the blasting laps in history and the fastest lap ever in F1,and he dears to acussed and talk in a nasty way to decent people. Hmm.
hendy100 u are blantantly chating out of ur ass if montoya was quicker he would of beaten schuey seeing as the BMW had a more pwerfull engine and where is this proof that he was quicker over a lap
Montoya is quicker than Schumacher over a lap. Setup and data analysis are Schumacher's strengths.
Also, having Ross Brawn made Schumacher the driver he is. His speed is not as quick as it seems. There are drivers currently in F1 that are as fast as Schumacher over a lap and perhaps quicker, but Schuey is the real deal over a full race distance—part fitness and focus, part best team in F1.
@Hendy100 Yes i agreed as far as fitness then the "focus" part not so sure.To me it flys away when underpresure like for eg the times with AS,JV,DH,curiously with a such of relentless racer like JPM,futhermore this year 010.Rise so many Q, that is reinforcing many doubts about his truth ability, I mean one thing is mistake and another intentional, which is word that Sir JS smoothed at Monaco, when MS, litterally park his beloved intergalactic car.
@Hendy100 If he is faster why didn't he beat schumacher in 2005 when he had a far superior car? He had the best car in 2005 and did nothing. When schumi had the best car he won the championship in july.
Montoya would have won world titles without traction control. His dosage of the accelerator was above the field. Brazil 01 and Cart re-starts prove it. Introduction of TC just after Brazil 01 killed a lot of the fun in the sport!!!
@steveq34 TC was introduced at the Spanish GP, not just after the Brazilian GP. Montoya could only match Ralf Schumacher's pace after TC was introduced. First podium for Montoya: Spanish GP, when TC was introduced. At Australia he was 1 second off, at Malaysia it was 7 tenths. If anything, I think TC helped Montoya.
@Lolzilol123 Australia was his first F1 race... not surprising that he was off the pace!
Ok, maybe TC was introduced two races after Brazil. I missed by one race. Still, I think Montoya would have shinned a lot more without it. He had a very aggressive driving style and oversteer and slipping are big part of it.
CART was definately the most exciting series to watch drivers. Clutch, no electronic gearbox, no TC, and no galactic supercars that have no chance of being challenged.
@steveq34 I think it would be just about the same without traction control - Montoya doesn't show any great skill with this right foot in this video. I think Montoya would've been even further from Michael Schumacher, whose delicacy with the throttle has been explained by his teammates and "experts" as the reason for his domination. I do agree, however, that Montoya's driving style would kill Schumacher's in a CART - an F1 car just needs a bit more delicacy in my opinion.
Montoya has an interesting way of controlling oversteer, in fact he often "provokes" the car into oversteer, have a look at his steering wheel at 0:04, 0:28, 1:04. He is straight onto the accelerator and knows the car will oversteer but corrects it automatically just by the right amount.
V10 engine is brutal without TC, but it was a normal lap. Montoya's got rally style with a lot of countersteering and it's not the best way to be fast....
This was not a poor car. Sure reliability wise it wasn't great but it was quick as hell and that BMW engine was a beast. As shown by Ralf Schumacher's 3 victories that year, alongside Montoya's win at Monza in 2001.
Watch Monza 2003 hight light just for example and you ll understand that "something"was wrong!!Listen Briatore!!!So...baby schumy should to learn to walk on his own legs..withouth Barrichello ,Sauber, and Politic..!! Obviously Montoya has been above all this, showing to all the world what is a natural talent driver you can't stop.If people ignore all this is because many of them watch to much television and they usually think following the mainstream.Watch things carefully and you ll understand
It is a good video, even with TC banned we won't ever see cars doing this again, maybe in 2009 but still dought it, because aero has come a long long way in 10 years. I kind of wish the cars would go back to the 70's style, now thats when they are full sideways!! clutches and all!! :D Next year they will be able to flat it once they are set up, after all they are running 700 BHP V-8 2.4L engines rather than the 2004 Honda RA004E which peaked 1000 BPH by Brazil in that season.
I agree with you there. I sat at the Senna curve in montreal last year and really noticed the TC kicking in a lot on some cars. It will be nice to hear some good wheel spin and mad revving again.
Montoya hasn't changed. I just think Raikkonen hurt his confidence. He couldn't keep up with him. I rate Montoya highly but it just proves how good Kimi is. Schumi would have been in the fight of his life. No wonder he quit.
And don't worry traction control will be gone in 08. One more year.
Just beacuse Kimmi was with maclaren for so long.... montoya was getting very confortable with his BMW, im sure if kimmy had arrived at willimas same thing would have happened.. look at how Hamilton was even better than alonso!! and that was just testing with maclaren
All or nothing passing moves? How many of them ended up in incidents, a lot loss than what a certain mr m Schumacher has done.... remember montoya going around the outside of him in '03.... that was a savvy move
Montoya is one hell of a driver!!
