@shazanur anyone answer your question on the blurred background? it has to do with depth of field. the larger your aperture (lower number.... i.e. f/1.8) the more blurry the background will be and the opposite is true. so in video where its automatically exposing, in bright light (daylight) you will have less depth of field (less blur) than in lower light situations.

I got this camera, and the lens is 50mm f1.8, but,in low light situation, the video is pretty noise :( few days ago, i recorded a video in the firework night, like this, it was ok with the firework, but, noise when aimed to people :(

i was looking at sample video for the 550D because i heard the video quality is much better, but seriously, the difference between 500D and 550D seems to be very little given the price gap!

I've got a 500D Myself, But everyone whos reading this and is looking at a 500D. Save up for a 550D. Trust me, 550D is pretty much the same as a 5D except the sensor is not as good. Its a bit more expensive but it is even more proffessional and delivers better quality video and pictures :)

The photos taken on D500 and d550 will be the same !!! same is lens on both .... The only dif is a new better live view screen and HD modes for 30fps and 24fps and thats it ........ get D550 of you want this but if its just for taken phorotos then get D500.

@iJsturgess Actually thats not 100% correct. The 550D and 500D have the same sensor but the 550D is 18 megapixel and the 500D only 15.1. , image quality is the same. The 500D only allows you to shoot video in full Auto and with the built in microphone. The 550D gives you some manual control in movie mode and has mic jack for external microphone, which is a huge bonus if you going to be doing lots of vids with the camera.

Canon EOS 500d can record in FULL HD with 20 FPS and in HD READY in 30 FPS.

Its so lovely camera! Not too big, not too small just perfect. Unlike those cow-big nikons and sonys. They are 100 g heavier than this cool camera.

from what ive read, i think there is.. it stops recording when the video reaches 4 gb which roughly translates to 12 mins of recording time.. but im not really sure, i dont own one, still planning to get one.. hehe

for the zoomin in video.. you just normally zoom.. ( yea it make a noise .. but thats the T1i :/ ) if you dont want it makes that noice.. you'll have to record sound with another thing..

@GlossyPanda The EF-S 18-55mm IS you're talking about is the lens that is available with the Cannon 500D, you can buy the 500D body separate, but you will still need a lens for it to function. There's a Twin Lens package available which gives you a 18-55mm lens as well as a 55-250mm lens.
