@UndisclosedCommenter How will electric help us fuel our cars? The BEST electric cars available currently get 150miles per charge, before having to sit for 8 hours to charge up again. Electric MOTORCYCLES top out at about 62 mph. We won't be seeing electric semi trucks any time soon. Besides, solar panels don't make economic sense. It's still cheaper by FAR to get our electricity from coal. There is no miracle solution.

There is simple no substitute for the natural hydrocarbons found in oil. If hydrogen could be produced as quickly or as cheaply as you say, a private investor would have done it by now. There is TREMENDOUS interest in emissions-free tech and cheap transportation. The fact that it's not being done causes me to doubt you.

@UndisclosedCommenter We'll have an oil substitute someday. Frankly, I'd bet on more electrified transportation long term. Liquid fuels are a lucky geological fluke. But that day is not today. Renewables still pale in comparison to oil and gas for transportation. Electric vehicles, frankly suck right now. As oil production continues to taper off, oil prices will go ever higher, thus making renewables more viable and increasing private interest in their development.
