they didnt FORGET. Davidson hit some animal on the back straight and damaged his front wing right in front of the pit entry. so the team didnt have enough time to inform the pitcrew. wasn't anyone's fault.

It's possible, if it was an unscheduled stop. Usually the driver would radio in to say he was pitting, but I guess for some reason the crew didn't get that message.
