Ffx fighting mechanics was the best...it felt like ff7 with great adjustments....with that...they brought a great story and characters...i think it was the first time they use voice overs for their game...ffx is the second best ff game to me...first is ff7...ff8 could've been, but i really didnt like the fighting mechanics on it...
@ThePodcas Agreed. I loved the story, characters, setting and EVERYTHING set up by FFX. Also i LOVED the combat! It wasn't hectic and chaotic and a light show but it involved strategy and that "combat rush" you got came from over coming and surviving the battle by strategy not.....whatever the hell FFXIII was....can't say I played the sequel to FFX here but i heard it was horrible. I wish they brought back the mechanics from FFX here since this was THE best FF game in my opinion.
All things considered FFXIII's battle system was truly great. Very innovative, and much of the battles do require lot's of strategy, between changing paradigms back and forward. It was definitely 1 of the game's strong points. I myself much prefer X to XIII but give XIII's battle system it's due, battles were pretty entertaining in that one, if you ask me.
lol, I don't remember it being that easy. You must've been using the right paradigms the whole way if that's true. How did you do against Odin? To me that was the first challenging fight in the game and it happens pretty early. Did you skip all the missions? 'Cause there's no way you can beat almost any of the high level marks just using auto-battle, considering that Long Gui can wipe out your whole party with one Ultima even with a maxed out Crystarium.
It's not possible to overpower the strongest enemies in XIII as it is in X. A maxed out Sphere Grid equals much stronger characters than a maxed out Crystarium.
And since you made it a point, aren't bosses in X much easier? Both during the course of the game and post game? You face so much random encounters that by the time you reach a boss you should be more than ready for it, and there's only so many bosses that actually take some degree of strategy...
Don't get me wrong I'll take X over XIII any day, I'm just saying that XIII's battle system should not be overlooked. I think it's right up there with the best of 'em in the entire series.
My first Final Fantasy that i played was 8, then i played 7. I enjoyed these 2 for about 2 years. Playstation 2 came and i was finally able to enjoy the experience due to my English capability. Due to i could read and experience the Final Fantasy story in X for the first time it was the first game ever for me to blow me away. This is almost 10 years ago and i will be waiting for the remake on the PS vita to blow me away once more :-)

i have enough of sqyareenix trying to hide bad storyline with flashy grpahics, gun swords and crazy hairstyles, i dont even need awesome grpahics to love a game, look at final fantasy 7, look at old baldurs gate series, people come back to them every time, i played those like 5 or 6 times already and i think imma start again, theres no more cool games anymore, after final fantasy x and bladurs they stopped to care

@myeyeswillburn I do too, sort of. something to salvage the beauty of X after the disaster of X-2. but rather than X-3 I want to see X-0, in other words, a prequel where you play as Jecht, Braska and (young)Auron. They should bring back the sphere grid concept but give them all a separate one based around the concepts of Mage, Light Warrior and Heavy Warrior, that way you could develop them all into the kinds of characters you WANT them to be, but without ever ending with a 'do-it-all' character

I meant they all would have SEPRATE sphere grids, jecht's focusing on the usual elements of a light warrior (so assassin, thief, spellsword ect), braska's on theusual aspects of a mage (black, white, green, sumoner etc), and auron's on the aspects of a heavy warrior (paladin, berserkergladiator etc)
And it's the first final fantasy when you can actually make out the characters as normal looking people!

@madlib72 this particular song is by masashi hamauzu, who assisted along with junya nakano on the making of this soundtrack. it was the first time nobuo had received assistance on a final fantasy soundtrack. hamauzu did the entire ff13 soundtrack also.
Every time i missed playing ffx (last played was 2008) i would search this song on youtube and play it while reading all the comments you guys post . I like how we all think alike and just drift of hearing this tune forgetting all the problems in this world .

My Playstation 2 is the equivalent of a semi-crushed rectangular object that has been forced through a rustic flour mill, yet still it draws breath and produces that wonderfully familiar hair-dryer-like sound. Obviously I felt it necessary to exploit its sudden burst of life, so Final Fantasy X became my game of choice. A heck of a long time later, it's still working and I've began to venture into the 'not so calm' Calm Lands and absolutely loving it. Next to decimate those pesky Dark Aeons.
No a FFX fan Knows that he is a fan without decorating.. Psh I knew I was afan of this game the moment I saw Tidus get kicked in the gut by Riku xD Anyways a real fan.. I don't know but you don't ned anything more than the game itself to be a fan.
I've already decided that when I get the money to do it, the basement in my house uis gonna get painted and converted into the best possible Macalania Woods that I can do...with looping music in the background. That place with the nighttime and the forest and pond and small sparkling lights from the round blubs and the music in this video looping, THIS would be my true Haven. Now THATS called being a Final Fantasy X fan lol

is`nt it wonderful when beautiful on screen visuals combine with brilliant music in a game or movie. it makes that creation stand head and shoulders above the rest in shear quality.... not to mention with final fantasy, the depth of the gameplay!
The best time to listen to this song is in the winter after a snow/ice storm and the outside is just a white frozen landscape. And while the sun is shining and there is no clouds in the sky, put this song on..........and you may taste just a little bit of Heaven.

but I think after playing all the ones 7 and on, with the exception of 11, I can say that I cannot choose between 8, 9, and 10. Obviously 10 has the technological win but if you had that for 9 and 8.. I wouldn't be able to choose. Besides, each of those 3 taught you different things in different ways.

personally. i think final fantasy wouldn't be anywhere without every single game they made. including 9. the music is so phenominal that i can't help but feel a part of me complete when i hear songs like these. they are simply beautiful.
@tehphilgreg while 7 8 9 10 all are masterpieces to me, you still have to remember that final fantasy 1 was made to save the company from bankruptcy, then 2-5 were practice games. I'd say if you can't have it right by the 6th game you're a fail.
All of the music on the ffx soundtrack is freakin spot on, i FEEL what is going on, i FEEL what i see, the music transcends everything, bringing me back to the beautiful, quiet, tranquil Macalania Woods i remember from the game. Clear crystals lighting up the forest, luminescent trees, sparkling paths, cerulean butterflies, the cool blue lake with the sparkling sphere matter in the center.
This game meant so much to me, and the music is simply gorgeous.
What a deep, glowing tune. Rippling through your soul like a tranquil lap of waves down to the shores of soft sand. The dark is beyond the waters but you end up being swept away towards that heavenly shore and you just know, for certain, that paradise is beyond. The dark is behind you and there is a glimmer of light ahead. And you're probably in tears cause you're just so happy.
I hope in the remake SE put fiend repel in the game.

My Playstation 2 is the equivalent of a semi-crushed rectangular object that has been forced through a rustic flour mill, yet still it draws breath and produces that wonderfully familiar hair-dryer-like sound. A heck of a long time later, it's still working and I've began to venture into the 'not so calm' Calm Lands and absolutely loving it. Next to decimate those pesky Dark Aeons.

I've already decided that when I get the money to do it, the basement in my house uis gonna get painted and converted into the best possible Macalania Woods that I can do...with looping music in the background. That place with the nighttime and the forest and pond and small sparkling lights from the round blubs and the music in this video looping, THIS would be my true Haven. But I added another thing. I think I'll convert maybe half of the basement or maybe 2 rooms because I want to have a room like the crystalized Lake Bresha from Final Fantasy XIII. I think I'll keep the Macalania basement and do a bigger room upstairs into Lake Bresha :]

but I think after playing all the ones 7 and on, with the exception of 11, I can say that I cannot choose between 8, 9, and 10. Obviously 10 has the technological win but if you had that for 9 and 8.. I wouldn't be able to choose. Besides, each of those 3 taught you different things in different ways.

@tehphilgreg while 7 8 9 10 all are masterpieces to me, you still have to remember that final fantasy 1 was made to save the company from bankruptcy, then 2-5 were practice games. I'd say if you can't have it right by the 6th game you're a fail.

All of the music on the ffx soundtrack is freakin spot on, i FEEL what is going on, i FEEL what i see, the music transcends everything, bringing me back to the beautiful, quiet, tranquil Macalania Woods i remember from the game. Clear crystals lighting up the forest, luminescent trees, sparkling paths, cerulean butterflies, the cool blue lake with the sparkling sphere matter in the center.
This game meant so much to me, and the music is simply gorgeous.
