that is genius! i play drums and i am gettin better everyday, im stuck with cheap drums but i have them sounding the way i like. but on christmas i did get two zildjian cymbals
@cuschtim5 What's more funny is that Yama is pronounced like Jämä in our language, which means leftover. Käsi means hand. So the name of that movie sounds like leftover hand to me.
hey man, love the snare! i want to get the same one. Just wondering why you went for the 6.5 rather than the 5? is your 6.5 good with other styles? i play mostly rock but play funk, pop and latin. thanks
@zeppelinrules69 6,5" would be the obvious choice for rock but 5" version is probably more versatile. If you wanna play funk, pop & latin too, I think I'd go for the 5". It's cheaper too.
@TheMisha1000 Remo ambassador coated batter and ambassador snare-side. No dampening or a small Evans min-emad to cut overtones just a little. Can't remember for sure. But I never use anything more than just minimal dampening except on kick drum.
Nice work! dang how many pearl sensitone you have?..i know they have brass, steel, bronze, and aluminum which one is the best!.Im still debating between brass and aluminum..
Just one, I sold the steel-sensitone. It was good, but the brass.. Lots of body, warmth, crack and volume, brilliant ghost notes too! I couldn't ask for more in a snare drum!
None of them is the best, but I'm pretty sure I've found my favorite! You'll need to try them out to know which one is for you.
Depends on what kind of sound you like. If you want lots of attack, put it inside of the drum in the middle (same distance from each head), pointing at the center of the batter head.
For more low-end and a little less attack, put the mic outside of the drum and close to the resonant head. A little off-center.
Also experiment and use Google. There are lots of guides about recording a drum set on the internet! You'll find what works for you eventually.
I know it's possible to create a much better drum sound with the same equipment but after all, this is just a drum solo in Youtube. And I'm a drummer, not a sound engineer. I'm happy with the mix, my goal is only to put better drumming into the next video.
When we're recording for real, I let my guitarist handle the mixing, I just make sure the drums are loud enough :)
I can't remember the whole process right now but in Cubase you need to go to VST Connections (or VST inputs/outputs) and set the firepod channels in there. Before that you need to have Firepod ASIO activated in the Cubase settings. Not sure if this helped at all but check the manual or Presonus -website..
Stagg bells are so cheap that you can always buy a few and see if they blend in with your other cymbals :) I have two, the 7" light works great for me but the 6,5" medium bell doesn't sound quite so good and I rarely use it.
I don't consider myself a metal drummer and I rarely find new inspiration in that genre these days..
Nice warm and tight sound! Tama sure sounds great. Your drumming is also very nice - nice dynamic range and stick control. Fine grooves and patterns - keep it up that way! Best wishes.

Four things:
1. Nice playing!
2. I would be happy with that snare sound, too.
3. Looks like I'm not the only one (besides Terry Bozzio) who likes to play "melodies" with his toms.
4. Your hi-hat stand is noisy. You might wanna check that.

Yep, it's almost an industry standard, after all. Almost every studio has one (or more). Either that or Shure Beta52.
