Well excuse him for taking on 3 parts of a Doors song and it not being good enough. If theres one thing that should be known about covering songs its that you don't try to play exactly what the original was because thats UNoriginal. You make it your own style which Paul clearly did.

Somehow Paul Gilbert does NOTHING to inspire me to keep playing guitar - he is so good, I just want to give up because I know I can never be that good. Even Malmsteen seems half achievable somewhere down the line compared to Paul Gilbert - and to top it all off, he is such a genuinely nice guy.

I saw Paul in the earlier days of Racer X. Live and clinics. He was always a cool guy but his playing is so much better these days. So many shredders never learned to inject feeling into their playing and Paul really did. The only guy I would put in the same class is Nuno from Extreme.

Monotonous bass lines are such a chore. I'm not sure which is worse, the 9+ minutes here, or on The Who's "Magic Bus".

@Datnigro Usually I try to think of a way to defend fast players, especially Paul because I think he's awsome, but I agree with you. I think he actually sang it pretty well, but the solo seemed way, way too long. I suppose it might be because he's playing at a guitar centre and people were expecting to hear shred solos, but still, I was really dissapointed by this. Just my personal opinion though, others seem to love this.
