im not trying to be offensive, i absolutely love gospelchops and admire the playing they do, but is it just me or is every gospelchop drummer aside from royster jr. and pridgen fat?
@suefracc Yeah you're are trying to be offensive. Gospel drummers are the best in the world. You need to be more like gospel and practice some more.Keep your stupid comments to yourself!
thats awesome i've always do this without noticing but not using this technique I just do the 3 on the toms and snare while doing a right left on double bass pedal. I'm definately gonna practice this and try and get it soundin good ;D
Whats crazy is that. A lot of you drummers are wanting to call the lick a poly rhythm and that is exactly what it is. Like i said in the start. for those of you who cant read. Any way learn the lick play the lick make it yours. make it better. thats all it is. WHO CARES WHAT ITS CALLED. JUST DO IT.
its not 'over'. 'over' suggests a polly-rhythm because 'over' means on top of, in this case through time.. meaning simulaniously. Hes creating rudiments with different sticking combining snare and bass drum.
He's not playing different than what he said. He started the phrasing using 3 over 1, then he goes interchangeably between 3 over 2 and 3 over 1. What's different?
three over two usually refers to a polyrythm..Playing 3 with one hand and two with the other at the same time...the feet can be substituted for hands etc
4 over 2 is cool but it is groups of 6s so it does not sound as cool when its played in sextuplets or 32nds, but 3 over 2 is groups of 5s so it sounds odd and yet interesting even if played in sextuplets or 32nds.
he played mostly RLRFFR LRFFRL RFFRLR FFRLRF the linear lick is in sextuplets. and most of the time, he just feel it when he plays in context and end the fill whenever he feels the one, that explains why smtimes he plays this fill differently. but basically its in 6s and he made use of RLRFF and RLRF linear patterns.
Eric is a great teacher, I watched this video years ago and it helped my playing so much. This guy needs to go on a clinic tour with Thomas and Tony that would be so i'll. They all have that gospel style but all have something different about them.
I spent some time with this one: RLR FF RLRFF RLRFF RLRFF RLRFF RL Crash...works out to be 27 notes to the bar. He doesn't play this combination everytime, but a majority of the takes.
Yo,good lookin bruh-slowin it down & teaching...a thorough move and a blessing! Thanks for the math homey & may God continue to pour into you & shine thru you in Jesus name. "Bring that beat back,Bring that beat back!"
What's up with this guy? He slows down not even two minutes into it! JUST KIDDING! F*** these haters. Tasty and laid back but still dishing chops. BAIII likes it. Eric Moore double-plus-good.
thanks for that great idea! but the lick at 2:27 is not correct, it does not come back to the one. but anyway i'm gonna practice that whole idea mixing 3-2 and 3-1 in licks, thank you, Eric!
it does if you start it on the 4 of the previous bar. been practising my quins recently and figuring this sort of thing out. easy maths but hard to put into practise.
thank you, it really isnt that important to discuss that much about it, but he didnt start the lick on the 4. he started it on the one. anybody who answers again primitively like: "hes a better drummer then you'll ever be". yes, maybe you are right, but thats not the point. I just commented something I saw on youtube. why do so much incompetent guys think they have to defend somebody (eric moore). I really love his style and especially that lick!
believe it or not i'm writing an essay as part of my degree on the approach on gospel drummers.. i just wanna know exactly what he meant as he's playing different to what he said.

i think he is playing them as 16 note triplets ! just dividing them in 3 and 2 etc.....they are note grouping of 5s
