  • X never used the Z-saber the same way Zero did. And its not a problem if he can use the saber for one or two moves. Dante and Virgil. Akuma and Ryu. That doesn't bug people. Armor changing doesn't break the game, hence Dark Phoenix and Arthur, it just takes a lot of time to program and model. Just make the amour changing a lvl 3 or 5 super. And he only moves like Zero if they make him. Zero moves pretty special. They'd have to go out of their way to make X move like that. Dat wavedash.

  • I find it stupid that people complain about Megaman not being included in Capcom Versus games. He's got a blaster, that's about it. Zero at least has a sword for close combat and combos.

  • @TheOriginalArchetype Megaman can change his powers and he has an entire series of powers to choose from, whether its Megaman or X or Megaman.exe. X in particular has different armors to choose from as well. The character has the potential for a lot of cool move variations. People complain because Zero and Tron got in WITHOUT Megaman being in even though Megaman is the flagship hero. Its like having Luigi and Toad without Mario.

  • @Phearmango In all honesty X is heavily based in projectiles for most of his games, as it is his main weapons as well as the derogative for most of his copy abilities, he is kinda a hard character to blend into fighting games without making him way strong or pathetic

  • @masterofdoom5000 His normals don't have to be projectile based. Just give him a bunch of projectile specials. I mean hell, look at Chris. All he does is shoot stuff and he isn't imbalanced. Plus X has the shoryuken from the capsule upgrade in the first game and a headbutt attack. And if he has armor switching then he could fly with falcon armor, do the invicible dash with the ultimate armor, use crescent blade attacks with the shadow armor. X is easy to balance.

  • @Phearmango And I say he's easy to balance because he has a ton of options to mix and match and reinterpret and plenty of melee stuff to mix into his play. If you can't think of decent balanced fighting game mechanics from all the stuff he has in his games its because you're bad at game design and you just see this robot dude shooting pew pew lasers and you can't see how he could work beyond that. Nevermind that Megaman has been in the VS series before and worked.

  • @kaihedgie Perhaps not everyone liked his implementation in MvC 1 and 2. He was alright in Tatsunoko. The thing is, there are so many ways to interpret the fighting mechanics of that character that its rediculous. He has countless powers from many games and several armors with their own abilities. If you can't make a character work well in a fighting game with such a large pool of skills to use and manipulate then you aren't good at game design, pure and simple.

    True, Mega Man has a large array of attacks, but the thing of it is: there are different Mega Men with different abilities. The reason Mega Man doesn't work however, is because of those attacks; they're either too powerful or too situational.

  • @kaihedgie That makes no sense. His attacks are only as powerful as they program them to be. They only cover as much space and distance as they program them to cover. If he used Commander Yammarks power from X6 they could program it as a super similar to the one Rose has in Street Fighter 4 AE, or they could make it a special that does weak ranged shots and stops him from using an y other special while its activated. It can be interpretted in many ways.

Problem is though: they were programmed in his own games to be absurdly powerful, some of them even screen filling, no less. People would moan and complain if they nerfed or so much as altered them in any way.

    About the Yammark Option, Hiryu already has that with Ouroboros. Operates exactly the same way.

  • @kaihedgie Wesker moves and operates fairly differently from his games and hes one of the most used and adored characters in the game. Zero's moves are pretty weak considering his attacks are actually stronger most of the time than X, but no one cares that they re-interpretted him that way. Spencer is awesome but nothing like he is in his own games.

    Lets face it, Capcom could make it work. They know what they're doing. They just don't want to.

  • @Phearmango Maybe it's just a matter of "can't" more than "won't". The three most important things in Marvel vs Capcom 3 are: Diversity. Balance. Accuracy. In a proper fighter, Mega Man simply cannot work in the latter two. Geo, Vent and Aile can work, or even EXE, but definitely not Classic. Volnutt was a step up from Classic, but I don't recall seeing high-level play. Let's face it though: if Mega Man were to still be put in the game, all people would ever do is spam the Buster

  • @kaihedgie People spam hadouken but that doesn't stop Ryu from being balanced and good. Projectiles are not the problem. Making the character feel like the character is not the problem. Capcom didn't even try. Thats why we don't have Megaman (though I actually want X more then the origina)l. There is no reason he can't be balanced if you select and limit his move pool to a specific gameplay idea. Zero is not a fluid combo monster in his own games but he works.

  • @Phearmango That's because Ryu's other moves actually work and each can be used effectively and practically.

    Again, how can you say they didn't try when we've got Phoenix Wright. Are you pretending he doesn't exist or something?

    Actually, Zero kinda is, in his own games at least. Reason why he works though is because they closely resembling fighting game moves and due to how fast and skillful he wields the Z-Saber, of course he has more business in being in a fighter than Rock.

  • @kaihedgie We agree that the Commander Yammark move works because its already been done with Strider. So at least ONE of countless moves he has works in a fighter. He also has arms and legs and is a robot, all of which translate well into a fighter. He has armors that let him do ninja tricks and fly and dash around, all of which work in fighting games. And developers can tweak the hit stun and wall bounce and properties of all of these moves. And they made Phoenix W. work.

  • @Phearmango I know of the armors, but some of them also gave him access to the Z-Saber and in some instance, X and Zero even use identical attacks. While you could give him the abilities his armors granted since, gameplay-wise, what the series revolved around, he would end practically moving like Zero and unfortunately, they're unable to give him an armor changing shtick since swapping through various models with wholly different abilities would put quite a heavy strain on the game.

  • @Phearmango Yes, Wesker does feel fairly different from his playable appearances in the RE games, but you can't exactly complain about accuracy since they managed to make him work with no problem considering the fact that he's mainly been a melee fighter and the teleporting shtick simply added another dimension to his gameplay. (Not sure if I should be using the word "dimension", but whatever)

  • @Phearmango Just probably me, but I'm going to assume you're about to bring up Dante's 40+ moves, right? I've been in this kind of argument more times than I can count, so I have an idea what this'll lead up to next.

  • @Phearmango You can give him all the moves he ever got in the series, but there's no theme, rhyme or reason behind them. It's just a clusterfuck of moves that have no business being in a fighter. And not just that either, but the real problem with implementing non-fighting character into a fighting game for MVC is to make them feel just like they did in their own games without making them overpowered or underpowered.

  • I got this code like two days ago right? When ever I try to do a combo, the computer gets out of it because Brawl's severe lack of hitstun. Like, I'll grab, throw and they'll attack as soon as possible. Is there a hitstun code, or am I just not comboing fast enough?

  • If Brawl were from Capcom, it'd definitely be a lot more complex and less accessible, but I think that'd be a good thing. From what I hear, Brawl is primarily button-mashing (don't have it), and if that's true, it'd bore me.

    The Capcom characters would be overpowered though. Link vs. Zero? pfft. Fox vs. Dante? LOL, Mega Man vs. Mario? Yeah... Only Nintendo character that would stand a chance is Samus unless they did some serious nerfing.

  • @DocRavage this is not true brawl is the most complex fighting gave you'd have. tactical to the fullest. button maching for noob, but no noob can win against experienced fighter with button mashing. the thing is its really hard to be strong in smash cuz of the tactical part mixed with reflex dodge and angled attacks it the most complete fighting game that i've played so far if your taking it seriously, but it can be pretty usual if played for fun

  • @ItsTheMatthias well that's true that melee was more complex than original brawl but. modified brawl does even more than melee. try brawl + or brawl - they surpassed melee(wavedash shield counter etc)

    It's basically turning Smash Bros into being the same as every other traditional fighting game, except without life bars.

    Ruins what makes the series different and unique from traditional fighters when you make it about nothing but who can pull off the longest combo string.-_-;;

    Still, it's impressive to watch, if you're into traditional fighters, so I'll give you an A+ for a good job of that much at least.
