  • Fuckin' wit dat pentagram, I'm your sacrificial lamb, smoke this shit I got a gram, GVCCI HVCCI fuckin' glam.

  • Same time

  • The reason lindsay lo is in alot of these pics is she's a popular role model for preteens in america who epitomizes the forlorn drug experimenting/counter culture experimenting tween girl with a tumblr, who brags about drug experiances and sex for attention, the music is actually quite elevating much like the high she experiances, and the religious icons represent her struggle between her christian upbringing and the lack of ethics in her judgement, she is a sacrificial lamb and a witch at the

  • @Smellycats4eva interesting interpretation. the image hopefully represents a critique of something. it's a thought provoking image. Lindsay is a meme.

  • What the fuck even is this shit? Even if I did like the song, I'm too bothered by the fact that there is a genre "Witchhouse". Wierd-ass shit, man.

  • Listening to this song while doing some readings for religious studies class. Classic!

  • Needless to say I have around 500 plays on my iphone.

  • Hip hop break beat and Wicca imagery. Well, that's uncommon I'll give it that.

  • me ecantó el estilo de musica ,es buenismo y la obsesión con lindsay lohan la comparto

  • Is that lindsay lohan?

  • this music is the future.

  • @211Anon which house is fairly new. I doubt it's already dead, not yet.

  • Bands I favor (currently) are †‡†,

oOoOO, Salem, Tearist, ⏄ and White Ring

  • Love this <3

  • sure salem is the best, your stupid for that shit, white ring is way better.

  • @squifey7 eeeh,no.Just,no.I like white ring but salem,is,just, the best band ever.

  • i am doing a piece on witch house. Who are the top bands? Who is †‡†

  • @prettylagoon if you're a writer I would love to talk to you. The 3cross symbol is RITUALZ, one of the top 'bands'. S4LEM (salem)is without a doubt the top 'band'. I use quotes on the word band because most of the artists are dudes with laptops. S4lem is a group of 3 persons, from Michigan.

The sound itself is characterized by downtempo 'drags'; popular songs are slowed to a crawl (60+-bpm)

which creates the ghostly sound ...

The 'microgenre' is a creature of the blogs, particularly P4K...

  • @anothercountyheard

does it actually have any connection to wicca/witchcraft or any of those occult things?

  • @traceursebas only in the sense that it is part of a micro-genre of music that uses occult and even satanic imagery in their graphics and most of which has a sound of heaviness and impending doom. (Witch-house)

This piece includes a humorous element, somewhat of a rarity. I asked the creator of this if he was into

occult music like Psychic TV and he replied he was more influenced by Akon...

  • @anothercountyheard

Id think Pictureplane's music is as witchhouse as you can get. Seeing as he solely invented the genre as a joke to describe his music. Something like my house is gonna get even more witchy... witchhouse.

Its got its roots in incorporating some house/trance with some older industrial, slower hardstyle. Then incorporating some of the early 80's goth/wave movements normally as samples.

  • @prettylagoon That's the most pathetic research for an article ever. Have some professionalism.

  • @CakeAndPasta i'm not writing an 'article'

  • @CakeAndPasta that's just mean

  • @prettylagoon White Ring, Salem, oOoOO

  • @prettylagoon GL▲SS †33†H are one of the best in my opinion

  • Epic

  • too short

  • I'm liking this song, but the album cover hurts my eyes.

She May Or May Not 3nd Up Dead Like Sharon In A Ritualistic Murder After Deeper InVolveMent With The Occult...

    ...I Have Spoken

  • @Ookamibito omg

  • white girl probz

  • sick

  • omg i love the video art

  • I never said they were complex, I said they were enjoyable. I enjoy complex melodies too, but there is a time and place for everything.

  • Don't forget about the film Downtown 81, a very important document of the No Wave scene. YouTube that shit.

  • @EternalPeaceMusic I like the sound of this record, and for whatever reason this thing has gotten more comment than any of my other uploads. In conclusion, it makes no difference to me what kind of machine a man uses to make his music as long as it sounds good. One thing I don't like is "lo-fi", whatever that is, low fidelity sucks. I hate that compressed low bit rate mp3 sound. If lo-fi music is good, like Ariel Pink's early work, I can't help but imagine how good it would be in full spectrum..

  • @EternalPeaceMusic I will check out Downtown 81 for sure.

  • @EternalPeaceMusic I watched Downtown 81 --- thanks for the tip. I met Jean Michel Basquiat in Atlanta in 83 (?) at the Fay Gold Gallery where he had a show, we went outside to smoke and talked. Sadly he was looking to score... very intelligent, so hip it was sick. He loved Throbbing Gristle. The cheapest drawings he had were like 400$. I wish I had bought one! I saw Kid Creole at Danceteria (NYC) in the same era. I still listen to the Dr Buzzard's Savannah Band LP.

  • I've never really cared about the technical process of recording music. Recording a washing machine and distorting it in Audacity sounds like something John Cage might do if he was a member of generation Y (maybe sans distortion, maybe not). It is true that sound engineers can do some great things, but I mainly pay attention to the melodic sensibilities. Thats what I like about witch house: the melodies. I can see how this could be interpreted as comedy, but so could some Faust songs.

  • @EternalPeaceMusic Ahh. Faust. Good stuff. So far ahead of it's time it's ridiculous. RE production and engineering; it can make a tremendous difference and I am a fan of production and producers. The distinction between production and mixing is blurring. In rock the producer is often only an engineer, like George Martin, but in both house music and country music the producer is the author of the recording (but not necessarily of the song)

  • @anothercountyheard Same here. It was a mistake for me to say "I've never really cared about the technical process of recording music." That was a lie. I meant to say no matter how good the production is, the melodies and in this case synth patches (who cares if they are preset, although I'm sure most of them have been manipulated in some way). A great song will shine through no matter who produces it, whether it be George Martin, Phil Spector, Joe Meek, Martin Hannett, etc.

  • @EternalPeaceMusic These are good comments, I agree with you. :D

  • @anothercountyheard Most of the Beatles' masterpieces are the products of studio wizardry, but the songs are good enough to be good on a 4 track tape recorder. I agree with what you said about Ariel Pink though. In the end, clean studio production always beats bedroom fidelity (unless your bedroom is a studio). I would much rather listen to the stereo version of Pet Sounds that the mono version, because it adds depth to the recordings.

  • @anothercountyheard But Phill Spector's wall of sound is the opposite of what is considered the industry standard today, so blah blah, I'm thinking out loud. thanks for uploading the video.

  • @EternalPeaceMusic The melodies in witch house are simple as fuck.

  • This is one of the worst things I've ever ... experienced

  • @odaxelagniaproject seriously? Just out of curiosity, what do you consider the best things you've experienced,

    musically?

  • @anothercountyheard I never really thought about it, probably IDM with symphonic elements?

  • @odaxelagniaproject Fair enough. One problem I have with IDM is that implicit in the notion of intelligent dance music is the notion that regular party yer ass off dance music is somehow un-intelligent. I actually think IDM, and "serious" electronic music is passe'. I'm completely sold on chillwave as the new defining paradigm for all new music, and witch house is a sort of sub genre, the dark side of chillwave. Even if you hate this, you should at least know about it, so thanks for listening.

  • @anothercountyheard But, the main problem with witch house is, that it's supposed to be dark and it's not at all. It's rather funny, the same way old horrors and sci-fi movies are. How can synthpop-influenced synths with 12 years old girl singing with so horribly bad production (I swear the FL Studio's default limiter is turned on on this track) can be dark? :P

  • @odaxelagniaproject Fair enough. I'm not sure how seriously I want to take the end of the world and satan anyway, lol. There is some real scary stuff around, but this is not. I can see where some might pass it off as a joke. I honestly don't get your criticism of the production though. The mix on this is quite agreeable to me.

    Is this from Florida?

  • @anothercountyheard About the mixing, the worst part for me is the compressor as I told you, the kick is pushing out the synth, which sounds pretty amateur for me. Also the guy's vocal postprocessing sounds like a very little delay between channels - I'm not sure if you're familiar with the process of making music, but if there are too little delay, the waves may cancel each other :P

  • Oh, also, the girls' vocal is recorded badly, sounds like a cheap pc microphone with living room environment :P (btw. do you know how old is she? just curious lol)

I sometimes listen to the "crappy nintendocore" just for fun and I will probably feel something like that about witch house soon... The thing which still keeps me away from witch house is the overall trying-to-be-dark-thing, it's pathetic for me ><

I don't get the Florida question?

  • @odaxelagniaproject Fla. I was inferring from FL Studio's name...How do you feel about so-called lo-fi music?

Or "noise-pop"? How about Animal Collective?

  • @anothercountyheard Man, I like even harsh noise. But, as I told you, there's a difference between a harsh noise track being in fact a recorded washing machine distorted in Audacity, and IDM or the supposed "witch house" track being "i dont know how to turn off the limiter so i use it on default settings lololo and i cant program my own synths so i use fls default plugin presets then ill release it on a vinyl"

  • man, production is so bad on this it HURTS. Read some fucking books.

  • @r0bbyt1 Yeah it's really not as good as it sounds, lol.

  • Fucking with a pentagram, I'm your sacrificial lamb. <3

  • fl studio

  • remix

  • The Blissed Out remix is good too

  • is the slut on the cover hvcci gvcci?

  • @ronnisnowberger no idea but I kinda doubt it

  • @ronnisnowberger it's lindsay lohannnnnn

  • @ronnisnowberger that would be lindsey lohan lol

  • @ronnisnowberger its lindsay lohan duh

  • @ronnisnowberger

    She looks like Lindsey Lohan

  • @Shaakeli it is

  • RITUALZ

  • @anothercountyheard was referring to ppl who were slagging this song off

  • @OhAmerica Because Triangles.

  • leave †‡† alone:)

  • amazing album.

  • hmm.. this looks like the end of this style of music

  • @Majesticon This is an interesting comment. Why would you think that?

  • lol silly hipsters

  • @nitenronin how is this hipster music at all?

  • What the hell is this nonsense? †‡†

Is this some Prince shit? I can't even youtube search that. >_<

  • @PurityandDeath It is a very clever way of drawing attention.

  • @anothercountyheard It's ... Interesting. At first it's just confusing 'cause I didn't know what the hell the band/artist name was vs. the song names. Then it kind of unravels like a little mystery. Then you're just left thinking "Why?"

I like this song. Listened to a dozen others and didn't really hear anything else that was as good though. Wonder why this one stands out more... Must be this "Gucci hoochie" person.

  • amazing!!!! im just in love !

  • @krischolina The whole album is amazing. Check out the track called Ritualz by Ritualz...

  • for some reason I like witch house better. It just seems like a much less ironic, cohesive movement. chillwave just wasn't certain enough for me; plus, witch house has hot ass goth girls.

  • @jack00008 structurally, it's the same, it's sample based, web based, bedroom music, and maybe stylistically witch house is a sort of reaction to chillwave. Chillwave may be passing into history, but it will loom large over the music scene for years. Punk, which was a similar impulse, was caught up in it's own limitations almost from the start, and the creative punk artists, like Clash or Talking Heads had moved way beyond punk in a year or 2. Yet punk continued to be an influence for years....

  • @anothercountyheard I think punk is a lot less an influence more than a niche that grows and shrinks every five years or so. in 2002 there was dance punk, in 1992 there were small scenes in california for power violence loving crust punks & screamo loving skinny jean rockers, & in 1982 every major had a couple hardcore punk bands. Chillwave is more like No Wave: it lasted about a year and a half, produced a handful of GREAT bands and a million small singles, then influenced tons of people.

  • @jack00008 Great comment. Ever hear No New York LP ? I remember the nowave, DNA, James Chance, Robin Crutchfeld,..Mars etc all tyhat! Got the vinyl... SUICIDE too

  • @anothercountyheard yeah, No New York is pretty much the only document of that scene outside of thurston moore's crazy cool new book.

also, in my last comment i said "every major", i meant "every major city".

  • @jack00008 No New York produced by Brian Eno! I'm gonna look up Moore's book, sounds interesting,

    love Sonic Youth =)

  • Witch house: Chillwave's quiet, imaginitive, sexy yet inexperienced younger brother.

  • @star0shadows I can't help but like this stuff, but I'll always love the sun more than the moon. I do think of witch house as being a reaction to and ultimately a part of Chillwave.

  • @anothercountyheard Totally agree, it's the dark moon to a warm, smooth sun :)
