@beatlestoneful look at paul's age this video. do you think john was gonna come back from the grave to perform the song? of course john was the lead on the album, but that's besides the point.
@diglesiasnieves Paul sang lead... He wrote it and showed it to John Lennon, who then came up with those falsetto "no I can't complain" and "couldn't get much worse" lines.
Fascinating to hear the songs that were never performed live before! Knowing that Paul was the one who wanted the Beatles to go on tour again in the late sixties ... 40 years later he does it ... great! You need to have patience sometimes.
this is a classic example of that little song hidden in the middle of side one, not so popular, not a hit, but turning into a treasured favorite with age. One of the best PM songs ever
The sign language isn't working. It's perfect for a lecture or conference, but it's not working here. That's like a blind person going to see a high action movie, and having someone explaining what's going on. The drama and excitement isn't there.
@YoureGuilty How would you know that the sign language isn't working? Are you Deaf? Deaf people feel the vibrations of the music and enjoying "listening" to the lyrics the same as anyone. The interpreter gives them equal access to entertainment that you take for granted. I am a Sign Language Interpreter and I love signing songs. Although some Deaf people don't like music, SOME DO! THAT INTERPRETER WAS AWESOME!!!
@MoostressFrauCow Sorry, I didn't mean to upset anyone. I didn't know that about deaf people i.e. vibrations. I totally understand that music is for all, but couldn't understand how an interpreter could realise those sounds for people who had hearing difficulties. Good call.
@YoureGuilty Also, it depends how deaf someone is, they could be legally deaf, but still be able to hear music if it's turned waaaay up. And at most concerts, the sound is at that level, so they could get the music, but might not be able to make out the lyrics. Hence the interpreter.
is it safe to say that the deaf could possibly have a slight idea of how the song actually is? based on tempo from vibrations? thats interesting that they still listen to music.
@MoostressFrauCow not to mention the fact its like reading poetry using sign language in a way- except its not spoken, its shown. plus people would enjoy watching the players and the graphics on screen
@genki217 my favorite Beatles album is Revolver but Sgt Pepper is a close 2nd...just my opinion. doesnt take away from the brilliance of that album. the only song i really dont care about on that album was "Within,Without You". it took me a LONG time to finally halfway listen to that song...it has a great message though: "LIFE FLOWS ON WITHIN YOU AND WITHOUT YOU"!!:)
@elwin38 probably revolver is better than sgt peppers. but critics said sgt peppers is the greatest album of all time. even though i have listened to that song many time, the lyrics are to deep for me to understand.
I love it that when you watch any concert Paul does the crowd goes wild just after the first chords. Not to many bands can clam that thousands of people can recognize any one of their songs just by the first few guitar chords.
It's pretty hard to find Fixing A Hole too but I think thats part of the Live In Red Square DVD which has an awesome live version of Fool On The Hill Too. Probably my fave live gig from Paul along with Citi Fields 2009.
Paul jsut won A Gershwin Award at the white House for pop music- he's one of only 3 poeple ever to get it, and I can see how Paul deserves it- Paul is so amazing!

PS cool video. very very glad that Paul sings these songs. all of his songs are great but 1.5-2 hours is always not enough to sings even most part of them :)
Paul has played this song before at other small concerts, plus him and John and the Beatles sang it- John helped write it in fact. John and Paul sing it in the Let it Be Sessions
"Getting Better" is a song written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, based on an original idea by McCartney.[3] It was recorded by The Beatles for the 1967 album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
@revenza, yes you are totally right. Paul is the centre, and the start, of what is great in rock today. The guy just captures, and expresses, live performance of beautiful music.. A genius? For sure... A living legend?... Absolutely

have u seen this old movie about John Lennon in which they showed how Lennon wrote Imagine? John Lennon was the true composer of The Beatles. He wrote most of their music and McCartney was the one co-writimg and later on taking most of the credit, McCartney is a damn excellent performer but he is nowhere near Lennon's composing genious. Otherwise it wouldnt have been John's solo tracks that rocked that much after the break up of the Beatles but Pauls
I think you ought to do some more research. Commercially, none of the other three Beatles came close to having such a successful post-Beatles career as Paul.
John's solo tracks rocked?
Which ones?
All of them?
And, besides: says who?
John was probably the main writer of 5-10 more songs than Paul was, that's all.
And in the later years(1966-1969), Paul had a slight upper hand.
Credit?
Well, why do you assume that every word John told interviewers was the entire truth?
Its exactly that Paul has always been more commercially successful. He has done a good job creating his image in front of the general audience but his success lies mainly in playing the old Beatles songs, whereas John has solo tracks he wrote for himself which became legendary (an example is Imagine)
John's 'advantage' over Paul after The Beatles is largely due to the fact that he died[on the cross?] before making too many shitty records, and his untimely death makes some view his work as better than it really was.
'John Lennon -- Plastic Ono Band' was brilliant, although extremely bleak.
'Imagine', and a couple of the others, were good -- or at least adequate.
You know, after the break up, Paul didn't do ANY Beatles numbers live until 1975.
Most of what you're saying is just wrong. To even suggest that Paul didn't write a significant amount of the Beatles music himself is a complete insult to him.
This is a "Paul song" from the Sgt Peppers album...

Yeah paul never wrote any succesful solo records did he? Quit trying to be smart and bagging him and just piss off.

Research!

Most of what you're saying is just wrong. To even suggest that Paul didn't write a significant amount of the Beatles music himself is a complete insult to him.

He is conceited though to be fair, I dislike him. He seems bigheaded and irritating, like he's showing off. Ringo was never like that.

Until he got fed up with his fans and threatened to burn all his fan's fanmail. Good ol' Ringo, right?

Ringo refuses to sign autographs. Paul has no problem with it. What were you saying?

Ringo's got his own life. He can do what he likes. So can Paul. I'm entitled to an opinion
