Tasers are supposed to be used in self-defense, to help capture someone (i.e. running away), and to help with an arrest if they can't get the cuffs on. They already had him cuffed so at this point their use of it was more like punishment than assistance. This is my issue with Tasers. They're not used in the proper way.

I have been shocked by a tazer.(it's a requirement to carry one) It is unpleasant, and hurts but its barley incapacitating. It is designed to have no adverse damage (for healthy individuals) and act as a non-lethal method to hinder a person's ability to evade police or to force them to comply.

First of all, it's been well established that the police were cleared by internal AND external investigations. it was found that they did their job well within the law. Meyer pleaded guilty and neither he nor the ACLU has filed any suit.

Tasers are supposed to be used in self-defense, to help capture someone (i.e. running away), and to help with an arrest if they can't get the cuffs on. They already had him cuffed so at this point their use of it was more like punishment than assistance. This is my issue with Tasers. They're not used in the proper way.

I work in security, and he got what he deserved, they asked him to leave and he was resisting from the start, if I was there I would have dropped right then and there, it wouldn't have gotten as far as the incident did. He's lucky those guards had so much patience. Word of advice, when any form of authority asks you to do something, just do it.

This individual is understandably outraged over what has happened to his country... I am too, I see people all around me turning, into something darker than they were. Freedom of speech....one of our country's amendments. No one should fear arrest or oppression stemming from what they say. Annoying is not reason for arrest or assault with a taser. It's a "sticks and stones" thing. You don't have to answer or acknowledge an idiot, but he shouldn't have been handled as he was.

He was handcuffed when the policewoman tased him. He had 3 guys on his back, you can hear clearly the sound of the handcuffs clutching in.

You better hope you never say anything that some person in the employ of the government does not want heard. He cut in line to the front pissing off the people behind him, went over his time limit, then refused to leave in a clam and orderly way when asked to. Only then after being brought to the ground did he say he would leave . He got what he wanted- his 15 minutes

Why are people going on about 'resisting arrest'? The POINT is that he shouldn't even have BEEN arrested! He said he would leave; they never asked him to or allowed him to! They clearly did NOT want any further questions that THEY did not like! So, next time, when it's one of these sheeple's questions, should we also allow them to be brutalized and arrested? SOME of us really do believe in free speach: liberty means fighting for the rights of those that you DON'T agree with!

He said very calmly "Let me go and I'll walk out of here". But they didn't let him go. They clearly wanted to arrest him for speaking his mind. He was opposing his arrest, and anyone would have made the same, if you had to be arrested only for having a big mouth. And then, with 4 guys on top of him, when he was already handcuffed, they tased him anyway.

No. The kid yelled because he wanted attention. He wanted people to think that he was being unjustly treated, and most of the comments I've seen about these clips lead me to believe that he duped all of you. His yells weren't because he was being hurt, but because he didn't want to be embarassed in front of his friends. Quite simply, he wanted to look tough.

I see that the guy is on the ground. Four or five policemen are standing above him. In the earlier clip you can see that he has only a book in his hand, no weapons. So there's absolutely no need to tase him.
By the way: He does great to reflect permanently what the cops are doing to him.

There was nothing the police should've done differently. The guy was being argumentative with not only John Kerry, but also with the police when they tried to get him to stop. If I were one of those cops, I'd have tased him from the beginning and kept tasing him every time he resisted. And I would've arrested his whiney, screaming little girlfriend, too- for obstruction.

Remember, they first arrested him for "inciting a riot" which the cops who arrested him admitted themselves on tape. Only later on they changed their story and said it was for "disturbing the peace".
Its quite clear that at first the police didnt have a clue what they arrested him for and only later on when they realized how stupid the reason was, pulled an excuse out of thin air.
Disturbing the peace? I mean cmon, Kerry wanted to answer the questions. It surely wasnt disturbing him.
