  • what about HKS oil pump

  • check out the nitto oil pump. its used in lots of spazmo aussie rb's. probably the best pump you can get before going dry with an external res... (imo)

  • @djhatton from what I remember all the nitto stuff looked like Chinese knock off's of other parts. The oil pump being a knock off of a Tomei.

  • @tyndago seems you remember pretty badly! the nitto is a) aussie not chinese b) an original design not a knock-off and c) very high quality. the (oversize) gears are wedm cut therefor very strong and highly accurate. the backing plate is 7000-series billet. the tomei's only real advantage is that you can adjust pressure externally. they're both great pumps but for the price, it would be hard to ignore the nitto.

  • do you know how much each of these pump flow (cc/rotation?)

I am considering a dry sump setup using external oil pump from large tractors or other industrial machinery

  • I dont understand whay everyone goes for the shitty N1?

Rewlimiter should not be higher than like 6500rpm:s or so.

Have seen a lot of skylines tuned to arround 700hp with the N1 pump

installed, and with their limiters set at 8500....And with stock valvesprings too. What a fucked up waste of money and time. Sorry...

  • You are probobly right in the comparission on the Stock OEM and N1 pump..

  • Thanks for quick reply.. i'am building a new engine for min R32GTR. but power wont be above 550HP and i'am using single turbo conversion. Dont know if i should use the N1 pump as it is right now ? Heard alot of rumers whith the N1 Pumpe, but stille some big powered cars use stock N1 pump.. Dont have money for a Tomei pump, but if one is using a big flow pump one would have to get an sump extension also

  • @Jakobsen86 I would rather see an OEM stock pump vs an N1. We had a whole lot of them fail. Almost like there was a problem in one of the batches.

  • Have you tried the N1 Pump whith Reimax gears ? Have a brand new N1 Oilpump from Japan, dont know if i should buy a set of reimax gears for it? ore sell and get another pump ?

  • @Jakobsen86 I have not tried the Reimax gears in a pump, but Reimax makes some very good parts. Over all other pumps, the Tomei is the best because the gears are much larger.

  • hey whats up i need your advice, for a 1991 Skyline r32 gtr which oil pump is the best in your opinion , NISMO, TOMEI, REIMAX , JUN , GREDDY. My original oil pump is slowly dying and i'm gonna need to change it soon . the car is pretty much stock other than suspension , exhaust , intercooler etc . I was driving on the highway at around 150 km/h and my oil pressure dropped almost to zero i thought it was all over but i was close to my house and parked the car when i started again psi it went up

  • @TheRusty26 Best is Tomei. Next is Reimax or Nismo. Jun after that. Last would be the Greddy. DO NOT BUY a N1 oil pump. I had a ton of them fail in the last few years. I think there is a problem in the casting.

  • @tyndago Greddy and JUN have the exact same design, gear size, backing plate etc...

  • damn I was ABOUT to get a Jun, guess I'll keep saving!

  • Tyndago what kind of car do you have?

  • I am a car dealer, and I work on a lot of Nissan Skyline GT-R's. I daily drive an Infiniti Q45, but I have a few others.

  • So you dont have a skyline of some sort? And do you know where i would be able to pick up a fed legal r34?

  • Fed Legal R34. There are only about 12-14 of them in the US. They go for around 100k.

I just drive everyone elses GT-R's. At RB Motorsports there are a couple of R32's , couple of R33's, and the R34 World Challenge car.

You can go to rbmotoring website to check out some cars for sale, but no fed legal R34's.

  • hey tyndago, what aftermarket ones would you suggest, I read a post of you that even the tomei fails? any hope for us?

  • Tomei is as good as it gets. I have had very few Tomei failures compared to others. The ones that I did have fail, I think might have eaten a bit of metal on the rest of the engine issue. The other one that was an early pump, but it was a failure. So can't say something "never" fails ,if in fact it can. Tomei is the cheaper way to go compared to a Dry sump setup.

  • Have you tested Tomei's oil pump against Nissan's OEM N1 oil pump? Which do you think (or know) is better to use for an over 800hp setup?

  • Yes. The N1 pump fails a lot. Some of the later pumps seem to have a problem with them. There is also a Nismo pump which is not the OEM N1 pump. The Nismo pump is good. The Tomei pump is the best. If I am building an 800 hp engine, its the Tomei for a stock style pump. Otherwise dry sump.

  • @tyndago Thank you very much mate.

  • Hi tyndago any idea where to get these aftermarket oil pumps and twin/tripple clutches for the rb26 for reasonable prices?

  • Whats reasonable ? If its cheap, its probably not available, or actually in stock. If its in stock, then its probably not reasonable. Tomei oil pump is around $1200. Exedy/NismoTwin plate clutches are around $1500 . The good Tilton carbon triple is about $5000.

  • They break due to cavitation at the inlet side of the pump from high RPM's.

  • What is wrong with the orginal pump?
