Why dont you overclock your CPU to like 2.8 to 3+.....your CPU is bottlenecking you, you could get around 10 more fps if u overclock abit more. and since your mobo is good, you shouldnt worry alot.

What powersupply do you have? I have a simular setup with a Corsair TX 750W PSU and my computer hangs then I put it on high resolution. I have to play with 800*600 res at high resolution or the computer hangs.

GTS 250 is still awesome, a little older but still great.

Some fairly new games recommend slower cards, like Mass Effect 2 and Bioshock 2, and some games like Just Cause 2 recommend a GTS 250 specifically.

and said Cod 4 as Excellent performance wise

and COD 5 as excellent

@TheTranceSeeker Thanks for the information. I think I'm definitely going with the GTS 250 but I'm still looking at the HD 5770 by ATI. I don't think I'm ever going to SLI/CROSSFIRE on this system because of the limitations of the chipset. (x8/x8 in dual card mode). Right now, I'm playing on one of my builds which has a E5300 (2.6ghz) 4GB DDR3 RAM, ATI 4650 1GB on a 1440x900 res. monitor. It's not maxed out, but it is pretty high on settings. I hope the GTS 250 can handle 1080p max settings.

yup it can actually. mine does anyway. so you should be in good shape. games like Mass Effect 2, Modern Warfare 2, Far Cry 2, Resident Evil 4 pretty much anything that is also on consoles. only ones that still give it a headache at 1920x1080 and max settings are Crysis and Arma II (if draw distance is maxed out and everthing else too). Pretty sure Bad Company 2 will push it's limits though. GTA IV with the latest patch is also a lot more stable now with the GTS 250. from my experience.

GTS 250 will run fine with this game .. but i suggest u get GTX 260.. its way better and costs a lil bit more .. GTS 250 is just a overclocked GTX 8800 which will run warmer than its suppose to

I get an average of 40-60FPS on my Palit 1Gb GTS250 while recording with fraps and while not recording 60-80 with as high as 180-200 FPs while looking where theres no movement.

During some cutscenes the fraps FPS counter goes as high as 850FPS+ Not sure if thats not an error

did you try to iverclock it because if you dnt even out the numbers rite then you will get tht happening also have you run it for a long period of time because if you have and you didnt keep it cool then you could have burned out some of the shaders
