@musicjesus95 theoretically, yes, but I would not recommend it. You may not be able to control how the mesh translates between your cad application and 3ds max, and therefore, the mesh might be difficult to skin properly, and it may have problems bending the way you would want it to. Going from cad to max usually works best with non-animated objects, e.g. architectural designs and such.
@v8wr Creating the arm involves modeling, which is not what a skinning tutorial is all about. Check out the Modeling or the Getting Started playlists instead. There are no arms modeled there but you'll find modeling techniques that will explain to you how to build objects in a 3D scene.
Hey look, I've that problem, but I'm not usign bones, I'm using a Biped... I added the skin modifier to my model, I've corrected everysingle bone, and still, it didn't change ANYTHING realted to how it moved before :S
Have you made any changes to the hotkey map? Go to the Customize menu and choose Customize User Interface. Browse down the list to "Display as See-Through". It should be assigned to the Alt+X shortcut. If it's not, select that entry, click in the Hotkey box on the right and press Alt+X. Click the Assign button. It should be ok now.
Load/Save functions are in the "Advanced Parameters" rollout. Not a very intuitive tool unless you're using the same object or another object with the same topology.
The bones don't attach to the model, they just appear behind what I'm trying to attach bones to. What do I do?
