  • bless you all for doing that.....let me know if you need more school supplies, i'll load up a big suit case full, pay the 50 dollars extra bag charge, and bring some supplies...the looks on the faces of the kids are priceless!

  • @unhombrelobo Thanx and I can tell you it would be totally appreciated.

  • what makes you think you can go to another country and judge it??? Take all the bad things about it?? what would you do if some foreign person came into U.S and started judging it and making videos?? do have no life to make videos like this????

  • @ortegamaria19 Seriously? I live here... I see the good and the bad and everything between.... and I could care less if people 'judge' the US... this video was make in order to help Costa Rica not 'judge' it...... it's TRUE what we say in this video.... I'm sorry if the 'truth' hurts your feelings...

  • @ortegamaria19

    dude go fuck your mother

  • Hello, I was wondering if anybody can give me information on working at Golden Valley School in Heredia? Has anybody taught there in the past 3 or 4 years? I know it is a private school. I would appreciate any information, thanks!

  • @lovesfunnyvideos44 I actually got a job at the same school. I've heard good things about it, but I guess I can't really know until I get there.

  • Mark Suckenberg founder of facebook donated $100 million to newark Nj school district that was on the brink of collapsing! Im tico and our ministry of education has a yearly well manage budget for schools that every day that passes by more imigrants from around the world send their kids to Cr schools . A regular tico family can manage to send their sons to medical schools with no schoolarships. Can an American family affort med school for their kids in in USA?

  • @Lambeestaca Hmmmmm.... sorry, but the budget is not as good as you say. Many, many schools are left raising money for themselves...like this school. And I would like to hear your definition of 'regular tico family'?

  • @iCostaRica24 yes it is!Ive been in the CR public school system all my life besides U Latina(private)conape loan cost me 24 thousand colones a month($50) for 3 years= $1800 2005 class bussiness,80s"decade alot of poverty in CR that has been amazingly eradicated and with a population of 3 and a half mill. now almost 5 mill within 20 years. The main cause of poverty and forgotten schools in CR is due to lack of administration by the local goverment (municipalidaes) and corrut majors

  • @Lambeestaca Let's just say we disagree on this.

  • I am glad that they were able to help these children. But something bothers me about this situation. Why do Americans, assuming they are from America, think that they can go to this country and save the day?. This is so typical of Americans and with all do respect White Americans. Americans see this and act as if the citizens are so miserable having to buy their children' school supplies at this level. I'm grateful for this, but it turns my stomach. :)

  • @drjmarq I actually do see what you're saying, I think it's something about a projecting a superior attitude or something...... but for me, the bottom line is getting the kids here school supplies......I almost don't care how they get them so long as they do..... So, if Mr. Right WING Republican feels better about himself buy writing a check to the 'supposed' lower classes for school supplies..... whatever. There's always Pepto Bismol.

  • @drjmarq

you are right but them two dont look like white americans, more like Mexican Americans, if not.. I didnt mean to offend anyone.

  • That's OK. The elites got a new stadium !

  • @blammcans You got that right. Sounds like another country I'm familiar with.

  • Is there a Costco or Sams club in CR? If so, do you think they sell paper goods such as writing paper, pencils, crayons, toilet paper, etc.? It may be a way to order supplies on-line if there is a way to get them delivered to schools. By the way, teachers in wealthy Boulder, CO are now having to photo copy their books - not enought money to buy books!!! A shame.

  • I have many tico friends that will attest to the fact that they definitely, defintely make more & have higher incomes if they are fluent in english. I hope I don't sound too much like a typical gringo if I say that the economic future of Costa Rica may depend largely on how sucessfull the schools are in teaching students english.

  • thanks for the heads up on this. i had planned on volunteering once i come down, in part to improve my spanish, and to, as you recommended, become a part of the community. clearly engaging the folks back home to send supplies or money will be a service as well.

how difficult is it to have supplies shipped into cr ? can one get around import duties ?

  • Not really sure, but a friend of ours asked and they said they would for go the import duties on 'supplies'.....but in Costa Rica there's usually 5 answers for any given question.

  • I was wondering the same thing. What if I just packed my luggage full of supplies? That's what I thought about anyway....

  • I would probably unwrap everything so it doesn't look like you're going to try and re-sale them or something...but it shouldn't be a problem...you could tell them anything really....

  • You guys rock! Unfortunately, US schools are in the same boat. Parents here in California are called upon to provide materials and, yes, even toilet paper. I hope to help out.

  • haha....THANX. Anything you can do would be appreciated.

  • D'Angelo and Mike, thank you for your inspiring work. For informing and educating all of us on how to tour and live in Costa Rica. But more importantly, how to be of service to others.

  • @Epazuti Thanx for the nice words,,,hopefully we can do more....

  • What is not expensive in costa rica lol beside food, but yes school may be free but not supplies. a uniform for a highschool student costs around $70. now think if you have 4 kids, just that on uniforms :/

  • @wemobr and then take 4 kids, but you have NO money for the uniforms.
