well you are fighting liquid in the beginning and when you get to the part where it is naked snake vs ocelot then ocelot is fighting you that is how he dies as ocelot that explains the your pretty good and the hand thing

Snake more or less beats the Liquid out of Ocelot. And it changes to Naked Snake to show the progression of the games

Well, he technically, he mentally forced himself to be Liquid--though in reality he was still Ocelot physically. But throughout it, everyone called him Liquid, because he was supposed to be Liquid so, like you said, carry out Guns of the Patriots.

What I meant in my comment was at the end, he wasn't mentally Liquid anymore. He was, in mind, Ocelot.

I find it sad how at the end of everything, Ocelot is so worn out--that he is no longer Liquid--but himself. For the first time in MGS4--he was actually Ocelot.

i don't care what anyone says, THIS was THE way to end the series to me. i remember playing this fight and got a little choked up because i kept remembering that this was the true ending of the series. i don't really care about MGS: Rising - im sure it might be good but MGS is nothing without The Legendary Solid Snake!!

My problem with MGS4 is that everything got fucking explained by nanomachines.

Seriously they overused the nanos excuse way too much in this game, taking away the supernatural elements that the other games had.

Liquid was never in Ocelots arm to begin with. He got it removed after MGS2 and went under therapy to make him think he was Liquid. And as this fight rages on Ocelot regains his senses. Hence the "You're pretty good" line and his trade mark.. hand thingy. :P

i think its at the sec. or third phase, but you get this "strong punch" by punching while blocking. its pretty sweet. instant knockdown!

I like all of the scripted little cutscenes that happen when Ocelot counters CQC in the MGS3 portion of the fight.  There's four. The one where snake flips. The arm-lock counter. There's one where Solid tries to grab Ocelot but he counters with a knee to Solid's chest. And one I don't see often, where you do the fully punch kick combo just out of range and Ocelot counters by doing a take down.
