Hey man, these techniques seem so effective, but why dont I ever see them in fighting competitions? I also do not belive it when a lot of traditional martial artists say'these wont work in MMA'. I belive that if it works, it works. Maybe just not all the time.
hi Luke i love your videos. i am only 16 right now but i plan on going into law enforcement just like my father and i find these videos very helpfull they give good tips. im sure canada has different rules then japan etc. but yeah only thing lft to do is to get big and start working out :)
@Susanoo58 But partners get tired, the dummy doesn't. The wooden dummy is the equivalent to a heavy bag for a boxer or a thai bag for a thai boxer. You find someone who is going to take hundreds of kicks from Buakaw everyday.
If you do real Wing Chun it is not about technique and who is close to whom, but just raw fighting.
There are no ranks, no titles, just fighting.
Talk to Philipp Bayer or any of his students for example or just ANY of Wong Shun Leung's Students.
That guy learned from Ip Man and was never about anything else but real fighting.
I had to discover a lot of talkative branch "masters" of Wing Chun till I found guys that taught the real deal and it is getting know to people, gladly.
never heard of the Silat Wooden dummy - that was cool. I had an anatomy & physiolgy class in college, & as you mentioned; they said the exact same thing about the importance use of bones. Using your mic is awesome - great to clearly hear all that you're saying. Your combat partner is a beautiful woman ♀ - how can you fight her? lol ...actually that was a very cool move right at 7:00. Great job & another great video!
bone marrow and white blood cell count increases...LOL...classic. I'll remember that one for a while. master luke and his chinese accent...super funny...reminds me of russel peters...not to mention, i didn't hear any cursing in this video which for master luke, is quite uncommon.
I'm glade U put this vid up. I am in to what i call hybrid Mixed arts training as I feel after 29 years that no one system is the whole deal, and at 52 I don't have another 30 years to find the holly grail. Like your spin on training and your knife defense vids, thanx for taking the time. REI.
our Wing Chun school has no belts. We have a good family and lineage- but what that means to me is i have thousands of family members with whom i can train.
the dummy is a tool like a type-writer, not your teacher.
we do not wear uniforms. it sounds like your old school was a joke- and this is why you left.
@superhumansight I was speaking generally and I did a lot of searching. not that it matters. But in my experience all I came across was nerds who talk about how great their Sifus used to be. that only reflects on them and not the mechanics of the art its self. Boom!
nice crossover, just going to prove your approach is only as limited as you can think. If you're not bound by political dogma then you're formless (ooh, I think I just had a bruce lee moment :p) and able to, as Nike would say 'Just Do It!'.
You should rename it Silat JDI, people love initials, makes it all sound mysterious hehe. Joking aside Luke, sterling job mate and I loved the slip into Singlish, la :p
@TeamWuJin Hey bro, great to see you spreading the RAW approach some more. Dave davedave. FYI: Azan = call to prayer. It's what's going on in the background noise when you're teaching
Anyway you could do any kind of tutorial for proper stretching? Im trying to be more flexible in order to be able to deliver better kicks, have more control and power. However all I find are tutorials for gymnastic that barely adress the time for any moves and how often you need to do them.
yourself use in your demonstration. You are 100% right. the dummy is a tool for wing chun, like the heavy bag to a boxer and like the forms for all classical martial arts. they are there to train certain attributes.
But I truly think that if you didn't already cover most of the principles aforementioned in my other comment with your raw silat, wing chun would be a very nice addition to your raw organization.
Hey Luke but what you are saying is true for all martial arts (I'm referring to you talking about people being too stuck in lineage or technique.) not just wing chun.
As you said it''s you who makes yourself. When it comes to hand to hand combatives I find wing chun to have some very useful principles and applications that are very, to use a term you are fond of, raw. Better yet the concepts of guarding the centerline, attacking the opponent's, disrupting his balance etc...are things that you
When i did karate my sensei told me something along the lines of karate is the guid line the art is what you make of it. i think what he was getting at is once you have learnt all there is to learn within the class room you have only learnt a small part of the art.
He was old school/traditional though(i rather the traditional way) alot of the training was to do with how you think and react and not just fight fight fight like some do.

think too many styles are too rigid in their training. not helping you get any where near what you'd need for self defence
