May I share a secret with you? In my prayers I asked God if I should return to this earth please send me back as a Bengali. Can you imagine going through life without Rabindo-sangeet?
@gogol143 many thanks 9830323841 cholo good luck! My Ma (like all Bengali mothers) loved Tagore so much and tried so hard to teach me about one of the greatest Bengal has produced. The defining moment for my insatiable need for Tagore was when I heard this song at Ma's final funeral prayers. Ma little did you know then how much Rabindranath was going to influence my life. And still I understand not a word but Ma I hear you all the time.
@Emerystreet : Well.. its really nice of you to think that way.. it is really nice to be a Bengali, ... just make sure you don't reincarnate in the state of West Bengal... At this time at least...
@joydeepkgp03 I agree with you! The trick is to be Bengali but make sure you live millions of miles away from the state of west bengal...in the state it is! Lets see what the lovely Mamata can do for us??!
Undoubtedly this is one of Tagore's best numbers. But particularly this one came out even glorious because of it's acting and picturization. Excellent job!!! Proud to be a bangali....

For jeetdg2012. Sorry I disagree with you. Bengali is the sweetest language and then Urdu. French is overated! Yes, yes and yes...I really must try and learn Bengali. Right now I am in my studio flat in Cambridge listening to Tagore! Good luck, friend.
I have something in common with Pinku2910... i see the film all the time...had the very good fortune to meet most of the cast including director Tarunda and Ritu too! Circumstances in my life never gave me the opportunity to learn Bengali ( ami bangaali) but I absolutely love Rabindrasangeet and listen to it EVERYDAY.. and not a word I understand. Often in my mind the songs are so moving that I find tears welling up in my eyes..thats Tagore and thats a bangaal at heart!
That's so not true. I think she has sung it much better than anyone else. There's real feeling, real emotion in oodles if only you listen very closely. This song is an appeal and that appeal has come through extremely well in her singing.
@anupamsircar I couldnt agree with you more! Her rendition of the song is by far and away the best version of its kind. And, to be fair Ritu singing it in the film gave it so much visual appeal, style and purpose. Every time and each time I hear the song, which I do almost on a daily basis (!) the song never fails to bring a lump to my throat. It is only Arundhati's that does it for me. No singer but no singer comes close to Arundhati.
just superb creation
