Did you see brock's comment on freethinker3161's channel about his plagiarism? Can you honestly tell me the event has not made you question that the words from his mouth are his own? His religion is irrelevant to me but his lack of integrity is what matters. If I found out brock was making his vids after knowing him personally I don't think I could hang with him any longer. Especially after knowing what he says about me as a person behind my back.
Now damnit, *that's* a point of view. While I disagree with you on Brock's agenda, *you* have the presence of mind to have a genuine and balanced head on your shoulders. Perhaps Lawley does too, but perhaps we'll never know. Well done, well said and it's people like *you* that represent true faith, as far as I can tell. Kudos. Subscribed.
Here's the problem I have with his plagiarism. It takes what he said and changes it from a meaningful message to just reading cue cards. It takes away all the credibility he could have had, and his arrogant delivery doesn't help either. Plagiarism turned his "message" into nothing. They weren't his words or his ideas, and though he apologized like he should have, the fact remains that he has nothing of his own to say.
As always, you are entitled to your opinion. But would you not want forgiveness from a mistake that you may have made? Why would I let one mistake on your part discredit you entirely?
Brock's message is not his own. It is the same as mine only the delivery is different. We love... we sin... we forgive... we correct our mistakes, learn from them and move on. I'm quite sure that's how we'd all like to be treated., so that's how I'll treat TAA. I hope you would do the same.
Just as you have to take responsibility for your actions, you should also take responsibility for your words. The two of you may agree, but each of you has your own individual message.
I think that if Brock works to become more like you and less like he has been, then he has potential.
I did mean to send it to you. I was asking when jesus' miracles were proven to have happened. If it was filmed, and witnesses were interviewed, then great, but if it was just written about decades later by people who weren't there, then it doesn't work.
i mean seriously, if david blaine were alive back then he would have mustered up a better following than god. that doesn't say too much for god now does it?
well obviously he didn't do enough to make the people who actually wrote the old testament to believe he was the messiah. sure is a good thing rome intervened and told the jewish people they couldn't interpret their own religion eh?
well you are extremely wrong because look at all the people following him over 2000 years later? come on, you thought that'd work? once again, people give into temptations and forced to do things they don't want to do sometimes.
no, not at all. she's the one making it seem that way. seriously im just saying she is wrong because people still follow Christ.......and rithrail you need to leave me alone. im starting to get ticked off. every chance you et you try to disprove my religion but i really dont care at all about YOU think. you're rude, egotistic, and annoying. in fact no one should care what you think.
I asked a serious question to you. And yes, I am rude, but I'm not egotistical. I think I am no better or worse than you. And I'm not the one trying to say "No one should care what you think", no? Pot kettle black, brad, pot kettle black.
But if you don't care what I think, why are you getting angry? Interesting bit of logic there, no? Every chance you get you jump into the discussion about whether your religion is true or not and you attack/slander atheists. So why are you getting
mad at someone returning the favor? If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
Oh, you also tried to tell me I couldn't be a Republican and called me a 'giant baby' for complaining about the state of the party. SO yeah, you're just as "rude", "egotistic", and "annoying" as you believe I am, Mr. Brad.
for the last time republican's believe what republicans normally believe. you don't thoug, how is that rude, im just pointing out how that doesn't make sense. thats not egotistic either. annoying? i guess for you, BUT you know what is annoying? the fact that you made, and might be trying to again, like 4 different debates with me when it was between me and one other person. you can put in your two cents, but instead you take over the discussion and mock me. how isn't that egotistic or annoying.
I asked a serious question and showed why your logic there was flawed. You don't speak for the Republican party and are not cognizant of its history, what it actually stands for, and the different wings of the party. I already explained how you were rude and egotistical, you just apparently lack the reading comprehension to understand that, but I will refer to my previous comments. Four different debates? What? And you posted a comment in a public space. I replied. If that bothers you
....you obviously don't speak for the modern republican party either. and im mad because you mock me. you dont just show how my logic may be wrong, you're just plain rude about it. i think you lack reading comprehension because it doesnt bother me that you debate me, it bothers me that you're so rude and mock me. you always just have an attitude thats mean whether you notice it or not. once i again im done talking to you. try to tone it done, and i will just stay out of this like you want.
I mock you because you started off by saying I have no morals and that I "don't belong in the Republican party" and claim to speak absolute truth. You were rude and did not show respect to begin with, and thus I feel free in not showing it to you.
You do realize most Republicans *are moderates*, yes? We just don't typically vote in primaries. It's why the representation is so skewed in Congress.
ok ok once more. that whole statement was hypocritical. saying you don't speak absolute truth, but feeling quite comfortable saying that is kind of hypocritical. so, now im done with this. i dont care about my pride as much as you
Your choice, but I'm highly doubting your degree was in Political Science or that you've had the level of exposure to the things I have. If you consider that pride, then so be it, and have a nice life.
Give him (14brad) a chance Rithrandil. How many times did you and others have to point out the error of my ways? Yet you are still here and you are a good friend and supporter.
That's true, and good advice, as always. I'll reign in my..uhm.. what do you reign in nowadays? Horses? Dogs? Well, whatever, consider them reigned in.
Oh, by the way, we may have killed the leader of the Pakistani Taliban in a drone attack, if you haven't heard. Figured you may find that interesting.
then stop commenting. You were just as rude to me as I was to you - but unlike you, I did not claim 'Christians cannot have morals', which is what made me reply to you ever in the first place. But if you like, I can make some sort of similar claim against you right now, such as. "Everyone named 14brad does not understand politics, the political party system, or the history of the United States."
there are so many people following him 2000 years later because the catholic church ran a 600 year long campaign of terror shoving poles up heretic's asses and burning millions at the stake. and you thought it was the loving word of jesus lol.
in the present no one is forced to believe Christianity. so not really. im not going to deny that but God didn't endorse any of that. i guess that was their free will to do that, and they most likely got what they deserved.
i guess you aren't familiar with the same old testament i am because it seems god is fine with torture and murder and slavery and even rape. i was just saying tho the inquisition is the only reason there are so many christians so to claim his message spread because of some truth in his message is a bit of a joke.
no actually i am and i've read about that. mdean1215 knows more about that and can help you with that. but i dont believe what i believe because my family or myself was forced to believe it. if that was true, everyone would believe it.
personally my favorite part of the bible is when moses decides his people should be free of slavery so god helps them become free and as soon as they get settled somewhere else someone says what do we do now moses and moses replies we get ourselves some slaves.
the jews haden't decided it was time for either the old or new testament to be canonized yet when rome stepped in and said yea it's over, you're done. nothing more to see here.
a street magician, you really haven't heard of david blaine? no, i don't think he meets any of those requirments, although i doubt he would send me to hell if i didn't believe he existed. probably his best quality.
my point was how could the son of god come to earth having limitless power and only convince an incredibly small number of people to acknowledge his existence much less being the son of god. i mean essentially he failed in his mission to save the jews.
music and satan go hand in hand, everyone knows that.
i can't believe there are people dumb enough to believe god in all of his glory came to earth 2000 years ago, magical powers intact and the best he could do is get 5 jewish people to write uncorroberated accounts of his life. everyone who was there denied him even though he could make anything he wanted happen, and the main message is i won't give proof faith gets you into heaven. damn, your thinking skills suck.
Thank you for this video. I am amazed at how honestly and humbly you captured my heart and intentions. I watch this video and I admire/ almost envy you friend. I have always had a very firecracker disposition, long before my first video I assure you. It is certainly a bittersweet thing in my life. I was very touched by the end of your video when you welcomed all who have need on YT to your time and energy. You have the aroma of Christ brother and I am a better man for knowing you.
Let me ask you this: If Brock was so sincere in his apology, why then has he continued to block me from his channel?
I was the one that pointed this plagiarism out. He even thanked me in his "apology" video. Yet he still holds a huge grudge about this. Anytime anybody mentions his plagiarism, he seems to delete the comments and often times he will block the user. Why is this?
In fact, he never apologized in his video for attempting to cover up his plagiarism by blocking me and others.
...And if Brock is called to be an apologist. He is doing a poor job - even doing a lot of damage to Christianity. He will never convert a single atheist because he entirely misrepresents them, and has refused completely to correct any of his statements.
Take his recent claim that Hitler was an atheist: clearly this is a fabrication. But has Brock corrected this? Nope.
And he continues to prattle on about atheists having no basis for morality, and how all atheists really believe in god. Sigh
...and Brock who was clearly reading these comments has conveniently ignored these questions.
Do you see what we mean when we say that Brock is intellectually dishonest? He isn't interested in the truth - he is only interested in spreading misinformation.
Maybe he's afraid that if he truly comes to an understanding of the atheist point of view, he will become one. The christian worst nightmare is losing their faith.
I don't know what's going through Brock's head. It's hard for me to believe that he actually takes into consideration anything any atheist has ever told him. Otherwise, why would he persist with his delusions about atheism?
Either that or he intentionally wants to spread hatred of atheism.
I can only speak to Brock, I cannot speak for him. I do not know the candor in which you've expressed your feelings towards him. I doubt you could insult someone into a debate if that's what you desire (not that I know you insulted him). But you obviously took a lot of time trying to find a way to discredit him. I would forgive you and have a conversation with you... but then again, I am not Brock. If you desire a dialogue, don't give up. He will surely break bread with you eventually...
... but doing the work you did not to discredit the arguements... but to discredit him... was undoubtedly hurtful. Surely you could understand him not giving you the time of day? But Brock is a God-loving man. I believe that you will get your dialogue when he's ready. Time will tell.
I actually didn't even intend to discredit him. I know Brock has a persecution complex and thinks people are out to "get" Christians, but I stated quite plainly in my video that I pretty much just stumbled onto his plagiarism.
If it hurt him, I don't care. He should feel bad about what he did. After all, he lied and he stole (and then he lied some more in an attempt to cover it up). That doesn't sound like a God-loving man to me.
And don't give me the whole "you didn't discredit his argument" crap. That is complete and utter BS. I responded (like many do) to him through video and comments and he very, very, very, very rarely ever responds.
Instead, he just repeats the same misconceptions over and over again with no regard for the reality of the situation.
Please stop apologizing for Brock. He is a grown man. He can do it for himself.
I didn't think I was apologizing for him. I said that I can do nothing to or for him. This whole video and subsequent comments are all my own, with NO input from him as well.
I'm quite sure he feels bad about plagarizing. I feel bad and I'm not the one who did it.
He removed my video as a response from, saying that "Videos are not a college paper, you don't plagiarize videos." Then when I asked him about it in a comment to one of his videos, he deleted the comment and blocked me. Subsequently, he removed video responses, deleted comments, and blocked many people who subsequently called him on his plagiarism. These include: DavidJohnWellman, meridianfrost, SoCalAtheist, and a bunch of others (I got many PMs).
He ignored the issue entirely until there were about a half a dozen mirrors of my original video (some on more popular channels) and about a dozen others had made videos calling him out. At that time, I noticed many people posting comments to his profile asking about the plagiarism - he deleted nearly ALL these comments. Finally, he made his "apology" where he never actually admitted to plagiarizing (only forgetting to cite sources once in a while - which is a complete lie).
Saying that you apologize for plagarizing is HARD. Most would have not even responded to your assertion. Some would have made an attempt to discredit you right back. Maybe his apology wasn't exactly what you wanted, but it was an apology nonetheless.
My best suggestion would be to be the change you want to see. Maybe an olive branch instead of poison ivy? I myself am still not sure exactly what it is you want from him? To stop his ministry? to stop making videos? I can't tell myself...
Do I want him to stop making videos? Hell, no. In fact, his videos serve as a great example of how intolerant, ignorant, and dishonest Christianity can be. Take, for example, the fact that he accused atheists over and over of "copying and pasting" from Dawkins' website - the irony that he was caught plagiarizing is really just hilarious.
Of course, I'd prefer if he were a more reasonable, and I'd prefer to have an open dialogue with Brock, but I think he is completely unwilling to do this.
---and yeah, I'm sure it is difficult to apologize for plagiarism. That may be an explanation for his poor apology, but it is certainly no excuse.
Is it really too much of me to ask that Brock swallow his pride and admit an error? I don't know how many times he has been factually wrong about things in his video, been corrected by many people, and gone on his merry way as if he was still correct all along.
Why does everything need to turn into a debate. He said his piece, you said yours. Why fight about it? Why should he argue with everyone who "calls him out". He's obviously not here for that. I'd be willing to bet that AmazingAtheist has passed on hundreds of "call outs" yet no one holds his feet to the fire. Why is there always a double standard? Has any atheist admitted to or apologized for copying Dawkins into pm's to Brock?
I can roll with a lot of your statements but I take issue with "example of how... dishonest christianity can be"
that's the most dishonest thing I've heard in a while. Christians are dishonest. People are dishonest. Christianity is not. It's like saying that abstinence is responsible for pregnancy. failure to practice abstinence is responsible for pregnancy, not abstinence. That failure is perpetrated by people, not the ideal.
Who said anything about a debate? Oh, that's right: you did - not me.
Besides, I have no idea if anybody even plagiarized Dawkins in PMs to Brock. He asserted this - but provided no evidence. If they had, they should have cited it.
You misunderstood the dishonesty thing entirely. Brock's undeniable dishonesty paints a poor picture for Christianity - a religion which often claims the moral high ground. You need not get so offended next time if you read a bit more carefully.
What I had hoped is that Brock would take into consideration that atheists actually do derive their morals from somewhere (OMG!) and we are not the filthy people he wants to portray us as. Instead, he has continued down this path of dishonesty - and that turns people away from Christianity more than anything else.
Like I said in the video, there are people out there that will come to Christ based on what Brock says and how he says it. It's a slippery slope though because he obviously has to have some thick skin as well. Just out of plain curiosity... has Brock turned you away from Christianity? Has anyone ever helped to draw you close to it?
Nobody will come to Christ based on what Brock says - especially not atheists. I can pretty much promise this to you because he only addresses atheist strawman arguments.
The only reason I'm not a Christian is because there is absolutely no physical evidence in support of it.
There's no physical evidence of aliens. But if someone who loved you told you exactly where to go to find them, would you not go? I would. You don't find God with your eyes. He's not in a science book. He's not in a classroom. He's in you. If you truely seek, ye shall find.
But like I said, I am not here to convert you. I will explain how and what happened to me and how it can happen for you too.
Brock has addressed straw men, but also has addressed real atheist arguements too.
What's absurd about God, omnipotent being who cares about what we do with out genitals, sending himself down to earth as his son to allow himself/his son get killed in order to relieve us of our sins which he allowed us to have in the first place?
what i don't understand is why if he died for our sins i am still being judged for them? did he halfass it, because if so he needs to come back here and do it right.
Not offended... just wanting to understand. I don't think Christianity claims any moral high ground unless we've either been misrepresented or straw-manned. I strive to be as moral as possible as a Christian and a human being. When I am unsure of which is the more moral, I use God's word as a guide and love as my light. But that does not mean I am immune from being wrong or making mistakes. I would question anyone who claims to be superior in any was just because they know Christ.
Uh, you might want to talk about this to Brock then. I believe he once described atheism as a person clipping his toenails into the bed where he was sleeping. He's also said a few times that evolution leads to genocide. He's also claimed that the only reason people are atheists is because they want to sin freely without having to think about god.
If that's not claiming the moral high ground, I don't know what is.
Did he claim that the "only" reason people are atheists is because of free sin or did he say "one" reason. If you would like, I can point you to atheists who proclaim that they enjoy sinning and not having to worry about God or consequences. I've actually done the toenail clipping thing... Evolution leads to genocide? It can, depending on who gets a hold of the evolutionists message and distorts it. It happens to Christianity all the time.
Brock very rarely qualifies any of these claims with "some atheists" or "one reason."
I find it hard to believe that you watch the same videos of his that I do. He always talks about "the atheists" and "the secularists" and "the godless" as if they all think and act in the exact same way. Just watch any of his videos for evidence of this.
If he actually addressed some arguments that atheists actually make, he might be more successful in his goals of being an "antidote."
I said last night, oddly, that Brock is certainly the kind of guy I would like to have a beer with. But my respect is dwindling for him rapidly, since he is not being intellectually honest with me, or anyone else.
I want him to stay online, I want him to keep making videos - I like the challenge! ;) But I'd like him to engage a little more, be a bit more human maybe. I'd like him to give more answers. From love, not irritation or anger - which he is increasingly doing.
If it is his 'calling', I'm pretty sure he could reach more people with a change of tack. But maybe that's not the point? I wouldn't know, I'm not trying to save any souls or whatever. But I'll tell you this - with such offensive stereotyping of atheists, mine is one soul he'll never be able to chalk down as his work.
Great video thereprieve, thank you. I don't think I entirely agree, but I value hearing your opinion.
I agree with you, Miss Lizards, as usual. The whole bit - having a beer with Brock would be great, but that desire is starting to...dissipate for the reasons you and I both said.
Jay, I value our friendship very much, so I am not going to weigh in on how I feel about the subject of this video. I'm pretty sure you're already aware that I have absolutely nothing positive or constructive to say regarding it, so I will leave the discussion to everyone else.
yeah, brock has a calling : making atheists hate christians ... sorry man, but if that guy would have a better attitude and wouldn't demonize atheists so much perhaps we could at least tolerate his ass.
Good video. Do you want to know what my ONLY problem with Brock is, Reprieve? It's not necessarily what he says, but it's things like ... the nazi belt buckles. He makes a ridiculous claim which is shot down within MINUTES of his video going up. People actually posted WW1 belt buckles alongside the Nazi ones. Does he retract the claim? Nope! He just keeps on goin'!
I respect Brock as a person but I don't believe he is intellectually honest which *hurts* whatever it is he tries to do.
If Brock admitted to another mistake, would you actually forgive him? Or would it be like last time and everyone would still hold it against him? He can't seem to win for losing and I support him because I've been there... many a time.
It's not about forgiving. He didn't do anything "wrong" per se. It's just about intellectual honesty. I'd respect him a lot more would be the way I'd put it. The impression he gives with these sorts of claims (I can drag out dozens, to be honest) is that he won't ever correct himself, and just keep on steaming ahead. It'd be like, to make up the closest argument I possibly could, if I claimed Ronald Reagan was a communist and just kept making that or similar claims, etc.
TAA is big on love. Have you reached out to him (maybe through a pm) with love and respect? I don't know your history with him, but I know that when I've reached out to atheists, love still overcomes all.
I have no real issue with him personally. I think he's aware of my complaints in general, but I don't think he "owes" me anything. I'm just saying in general I think it hurts him, his credibility, and his mission when he makes claims (Whether knowingly or not) that are false and does not correct/retract them.
I don't think he's a bad guy or anything, and it's not like he's personally offended me. I just think he needs to change his tactics for his own benefit. I think he'd be more effective.
More effective? LOL... he's been here less time than I and has 10 times the subscribers. People are hearing the message through him far more than I could ever dream of. I am a lightweight when it comes to evangelizing compared to him.
Give him a chance though... he confronted the plagarism charge head-on. If he's proven wrong in other ways, I'm confident that he will meet that head-on as well.
More subscribers, perhaps. But look at this way, with the Nazi belt buckle thing. He claims that they were all repurposed WW1 belt buckles. Not true. You can google "nazi belt buckles", see all the ones with Swastikas. Then, you can also find the WW1 belt buckles with "God is for us" on them. What do they have on them? Pictures of crowns. So unless Brock believes time-traveling nazis placed buckles with Swastikas on them in German warehouses, his claim is pretty clearly in the wrong.
I can bring up other examples of this, too. The problem this creates, Reprieve, is that this is pointed out dozens of times *Within thirty minutes of his video going up*. He's made, what, four since then? Did he retract the claim in either a video, a comment, or an annotation? Nope, he did not.
So what this does is lower his credibility. It makes it less likely that others will take what he says seriously. That makes him less effective, IMO, and makes him less credible.
"More effective? LOL... he's been here less time than I and has 10 times the subscribers."
Subscriber count has nothing to do with effectiveness, unless subs is his goal.
You know as well as I do that 75% of his subs are atheists who watch him to either call him on his bullshit/plagiarism, or to laugh at him, as opposed to many Christians who have atheist subs out of respect for their intellect/opinions. 100 people listening to you for the right reasons trumps 1000 for the wrong ones.
It would be dishonest to make videos rehularly and then say that you don't value sub count. I know I do.
Just out of plain curiosity... why are 90+% of my subs atheists? Are they waiting to call me on my bs, laugh at me, or are my opinions respected? In your opinion...
Assuming you care about sub count because you hope to change minds, or get your opinion out, and not purely for narcissistic reasons there's nothing wrong with valuing sub count.
I haven't watched many of your vids, but based on what I've seen, and the comments atheists leave it's partly respect, and partly the fact that they think you're intelligent enough that you might potentially be swayed to become an atheist, or understand the value of a secular government.
That being said DESPITE that fact you only have 66 subs compared with Brock's 760, you are FAR more likely, in my opinion, to convert someone to Christianity than he is, but I don't think that's his goal anyway. At best his goal is to preach to the choir, and reinforce the negative opinion fundamentalists Christians have about atheists, and secularism in general. At worst it's nothing more than a game where winning is measured in sub count, and the ego stroking he gets from his fan boys.
Well I definitely understand the NEED for a secular government... ABSOLUTELY. I also admit that I personally feel a little bit more validated with every new sub regardless of who they are. I think you should watch my video called TheAtheistAntidote and Me. It explains why I think that what Brock does, though painful, is important in it's own way.
I whole-heartedly thank you for your time, your thoughts, and your honesty. Maybe we'll cross paths in the future. Until then, Peace to you!
I don't know, perhaps, either way both of them do a fantastic job of intentionally insulting the opposition.
Also, one of the big things that suck people in is confidence, and both of them have abundant confidence. However good confidence may be, its like most things, its only good in reasonable scales.
At a large enough scale the confidence comes off as arrogance, which people sadly tend not to notice.
I would give you five stars if your ratings where not disabled

jesus was sent to earth to show he was god and could do miracles, think about it man.
jesus is like hey look i'm the son of god. oh really can you do anything to prove? jesus pops the titanic into existence...
meh, not good enough.

I must have missed it when he did that. What channel was it on?

I asked a serious question to you. And yes, I am rude, but I'm not egotistical. I think I am no better or worse than you. And I'm not the one trying to say "No one should care what you think", no? Pot kettle black, brad, pot kettle black.
But if you don't care what I think, why are you getting angry? Interesting bit of logic there, no? Every chance you get you jump into the discussion about whether your religion is true or not and you attack/slander atheists. So why are you getting
Rithrandil 2 years ago
mad at someone returning the favor? If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
Oh, you also tried to tell me I couldn't be a Republican and called me a 'giant baby' for complaining about the state of the party. SO yeah, you're just as "rude", "egotistic", and "annoying" as you believe I am, Mr. Brad.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
for the last time republican's believe what republicans normally believe. you don't thoug, how is that rude, im just pointing out how that doesn't make sense. thats not egotistic either. annoying? i guess for you, BUT you know what is annoying? the fact that you made, and might be trying to again, like 4 different debates with me when it was between me and one other person. you can put in your two cents, but instead you take over the discussion and mock me. how isn't that egotistic or annoying.
14brad 2 years ago
I asked a serious question and showed why your logic there was flawed. You don't speak for the Republican party and are not cognizant of its history, what it actually stands for, and the different wings of the party. I already explained how you were rude and egotistical, you just apparently lack the reading comprehension to understand that, but I will refer to my previous comments. Four different debates? What? And you posted a comment in a public space. I replied. If that bothers you
Rithrandil 2 years ago
....you obviously don't speak for the modern republican party either. and im mad because you mock me. you dont just show how my logic may be wrong, you're just plain rude about it. i think you lack reading comprehension because it doesnt bother me that you debate me, it bothers me that you're so rude and mock me. you always just have an attitude thats mean whether you notice it or not. once i again im done talking to you. try to tone it done, and i will just stay out of this like you want.
14brad 2 years ago
I mock you because you started off by saying I have no morals and that I "don't belong in the Republican party" and claim to speak absolute truth. You were rude and did not show respect to begin with, and thus I feel free in not showing it to you.
You do realize most Republicans *are moderates*, yes? We just don't typically vote in primaries. It's why the representation is so skewed in Congress.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
...ok one last time. i said that Atheists couldn't have made morals, not that they don't have any. you claim to speak absolute truth too....
14brad 2 years ago
Nope. I don't speak absolute truth. I am not omniscient nor do I claim to represent an omniscient being.
I do, however, know more about politics and political science than you do. I am quite comfortable stating that.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
ok ok once more. that whole statement was hypocritical. saying you don't speak absolute truth, but feeling quite comfortable saying that is kind of hypocritical. so, now im done with this. i dont care about my pride as much as you
14brad 2 years ago
Your choice, but I'm highly doubting your degree was in Political Science or that you've had the level of exposure to the things I have. If you consider that pride, then so be it, and have a nice life.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
Give him (14brad) a chance Rithrandil. How many times did you and others have to point out the error of my ways? Yet you are still here and you are a good friend and supporter.

WOW... no I hadn't heard. I'm heading to check the news right now. Thanks again amigo!
thereprieve 2 years ago
then stop commenting.

14brad 2 years ago
i guess you aren't familiar with the same old testament i am because it seems god is fine with torture and murder and slavery and even rape. i was just saying tho the inquisition is the only reason there are so many christians so to claim his message spread because of some truth in his message is a bit of a joke.
adrenacrumb 2 years ago
no actually i am and i've read about that. mdean1215 knows more about that and can help you with that. but i dont believe what i believe because my family or myself was forced to believe it. if that was true, everyone would believe it.

personally my favorite part of the bible is when moses decides his people should be free of slavery so god helps them become free and as soon as they get settled somewhere else someone says what do we do now moses and moses replies we get ourselves some slaves.

a street magician, you really haven't heard of david blaine? no, i don't think he meets any of those requirments, although i doubt he would send me to hell if i didn't believe he existed. probably his best quality.
my point was how could the son of god come to earth having limitless power and only convince an incredibly small number of people to acknowledge his existence much less being the son of god. i mean essentially he failed in his mission to save the jews.

music and satan go hand in hand, everyone knows that.
i can't believe there are people dumb enough to believe god in all of his glory came to earth 2000 years ago, magical powers intact and the best he could do is get 5 jewish people to write uncorroberated accounts of his life. everyone who was there denied him even though he could make anything he wanted happen, and the main message is i won't give proof faith gets you into heaven. damn, your thinking skills suck.

In fact, he never apologized in his video for attempting to cover up his plagiarism by blocking me and others.
antybu86 2 years ago 3
...And if Brock is called to be an apologist.
Sigh
antybu86 2 years ago 3
...and Brock who was clearly reading these comments has conveniently ignored these questions.
Do you see what we mean when we say that Brock is intellectually dishonest? He isn't interested in the truth - he is only interested in spreading misinformation.
antybu86 2 years ago 3
Maybe he's afraid that if he truly comes to an understanding of the atheist point of view, he will become one. The christian worst nightmare is losing their faith.
PluralOfEverything 2 years ago
I don't know what's going through Brock's head. It's hard for me to believe that he actually takes into consideration anything any atheist has ever told him. Otherwise, why would he persist with his delusions about atheism?
Either that or he intentionally wants to spread hatred of atheism.
antybu86 2 years ago
I can only speak to Brock, I cannot speak for him. I do not know the candor in which you've expressed your feelings towards him. I doubt you could insult someone into a debate if that's what you desire (not that I know you insulted him). But you obviously took a lot of time trying to find a way to discredit him. I would forgive you and have a conversation with you... but then again, I am not Brock. If you desire a dialogue, don't give up. He will surely break bread with you eventually...
thereprieve 2 years ago
... but doing the work you did not to discredit the arguements... but to discredit him... was undoubtedly hurtful. Surely you could understand him not giving you the time of day? But Brock is a God-loving man. I believe that you will get your dialogue when he's ready. Time will tell.
thereprieve 2 years ago
I actually didn't even intend to discredit him. I know Brock has a persecution complex and thinks people are out to "get" Christians, but I stated quite plainly in my video that I pretty much just stumbled onto his plagiarism.
If it hurt him, I don't care. He should feel bad about what he did. After all, he lied and he stole (and then he lied some more in an attempt to cover it up). That doesn't sound like a God-loving man to me.
(cont.)
antybu86 2 years ago
(cont. from above)
He can do it for himself.
antybu86 2 years ago
I didn't think I was apologizing for him. I said that I can do nothing to or for him. This whole video and subsequent comments are all my own, with NO input from him as well.
I'm quite sure he feels bad about plagarizing. I feel bad and I'm not the one who did it.
How did he lie to cover it up?
thereprieve 2 years ago
He removed my video as a response from, saying that "Videos are not a college paper, you don't plagiarize videos." Then when I asked him about it in a comment to one of his videos, he deleted the comment and blocked me. Subsequently, he removed video responses, deleted comments, and blocked many people who subsequently called him on his plagiarism. These include: DavidJohnWellman, meridianfrost, SoCalAtheist, and a bunch of others (I got many PMs).
(cont.)
antybu86 2 years ago
cont. from above
He ignored the issue entirely until there were about a half a dozen mirrors of my original video (some on more popular channels) and about a dozen others had made videos calling him out. At that time, I noticed many people posting comments to his profile asking about the plagiarism - he deleted nearly ALL these comments. Finally, he made his "apology" where he never actually admitted to plagiarizing (only forgetting to cite sources once in a while - which is a complete lie).
antybu86 2 years ago
Saying that you apologize for plagarizing is HARD. Most would have not even responded to your assertion. Some would have made an attempt to discredit you right back. Maybe his apology wasn't exactly what you wanted, but it was an apology nonetheless.
My best suggestion would be to be the change you want to see. Maybe an olive branch instead of poison ivy? I myself am still not sure exactly what it is you want from him? To stop his ministry? to stop making videos? I can't tell myself...
thereprieve 2 years ago
Do I want him to stop making videos? Hell, no. In fact, his videos serve as a great example of how intolerant, ignorant, and dishonest Christianity can be. Take, for example, the fact that he accused atheists over and over of "copying and pasting" from Dawkins' website - the irony that he was caught plagiarizing is really just hilarious.
Of course, I'd prefer if he were a more reasonable, and I'd prefer to have an open dialogue with Brock, but I think he is completely unwilling to do this.
antybu86 2 years ago
---and yeah, I'm sure it is difficult to apologize for plagiarism. That may be an explanation for his poor apology, but it is certainly no excuse.
Is it really too much of me to ask that Brock swallow his pride and admit an error? I don't know how many times he has been factually wrong about things in his video, been corrected by many people, and gone on his merry way as if he was still correct all along.
antybu86 2 years ago
Why does everything need to turn into a debate. He said his piece, you said yours. Why fight about it? Why should he argue with everyone who "calls him out". He's obviously not here for that. I'd be willing to bet that AmazingAtheist has passed on hundreds of "call outs" yet no one holds his feet to the fire. Why is there always a double standard? Has any atheist admitted to or apologized for copying Dawkins into pm's to Brock?
Sorry... not fighting with you, just questioning.
thereprieve 2 years ago
I can roll with a lot of your statements but I take issue with "example of how... dishonest christianity can be"
that's the most dishonest thing I've heard in a while. Christians are dishonest. People are dishonest. Christianity is not. It's like saying that abstinence is responsible for pregnancy. failure to practice abstinence is responsible for pregnancy, not abstinence. That failure is perpetrated by people, not the ideal.
thereprieve 2 years ago
Who said anything about a debate? Oh, that's right: you did - not me.
Besides, I have no idea if anybody even plagiarized Dawkins in PMs to Brock. He asserted this - but provided no evidence. If they had, they should have cited it.
You misunderstood the dishonesty thing entirely. Brock's undeniable dishonesty paints a poor picture for Christianity - a religion which often claims the moral high ground. You need not get so offended next time if you read a bit more carefully.
(cont.)
antybu86 2 years ago
(cont.)
What I had hoped is that Brock would take into consideration that atheists actually do derive their morals from somewhere (OMG!) and we are not the filthy people he wants to portray us as. Instead, he has continued down this path of dishonesty - and that turns people away from Christianity more than anything else.
antybu86 2 years ago
Like I said in the video, there are people out there that will come to Christ based on what Brock says and how he says it. It's a slippery slope though because he obviously has to have some thick skin as well. Just out of plain curiosity... has Brock turned you away from Christianity? Has anyone ever helped to draw you close to it?
thereprieve 2 years ago
Nobody will come to Christ based on what Brock says - especially not atheists. I can pretty much promise this to you because he only addresses atheist strawman arguments.
The only reason I'm not a Christian is because there is absolutely no physical evidence in support of it.
antybu86 2 years ago
There's no physical evidence of aliens. But if someone who loved you told you exactly where to go to find them, would you not go? I would. You don't find God with your eyes. He's not in a science book. He's not in a classroom. He's in you. If you truely seek, ye shall find.
But like I said, I am not here to convert you. I will explain how and what happened to me and how it can happen for you too.
Brock has addressed straw men, but also has addressed real atheist arguements too.
thereprieve 2 years ago
the fact that the entire premise is absolutely absurd doesn't keep you away?
adrenacrumb 2 years ago
What's absurd about God, omnipotent being who cares about what we do with out genitals, sending himself down to earth as his son to allow himself/his son get killed in order to relieve us of our sins which he allowed us to have in the first place?
antybu86 2 years ago
lmao :)
adrenacrumb 2 years ago
what i don't understand is why if he died for our sins i am still being judged for them? did he halfass it, because if so he needs to come back here and do it right.
adrenacrumb 2 years ago
Not offended... just wanting to understand. I don't think Christianity claims any moral high ground unless we've either been misrepresented or straw-manned. I strive to be as moral as possible as a Christian and a human being. When I am unsure of which is the more moral, I use God's word as a guide and love as my light. But that does not mean I am immune from being wrong or making mistakes. I would question anyone who claims to be superior in any was just because they know Christ.
thereprieve 2 years ago
Uh, you might want to talk about this to Brock then. I believe he once described atheism as a person clipping his toenails into the bed where he was sleeping. He's also said a few times that evolution leads to genocide. He's also claimed that the only reason people are atheists is because they want to sin freely without having to think about god.
If that's not claiming the moral high ground, I don't know what is.
antybu86 2 years ago
Did he claim that the "only" reason people are atheists is because of free sin or did he say "one" reason. If you would like, I can point you to atheists who proclaim that they enjoy sinning and not having to worry about God or consequences. I've actually done the toenail clipping thing... Evolution leads to genocide? It can, depending on who gets a hold of the evolutionists message and distorts it. It happens to Christianity all the time.
thereprieve 2 years ago
Don't get me wrong though... most atheists that I've met are not the sin loving type. I was simply making the observation that they are out there.
thereprieve 2 years ago
Brock very rarely qualifies any of these claims with "some atheists" or "one reason."
I find it hard to believe that you watch the same videos of his that I do. He always talks about "the atheists" and "the secularists" and "the godless" as if they all think and act in the exact same way. Just watch any of his videos for evidence of this.
If he actually addressed some arguments that atheists actually make, he might be more successful in his goals of being an "antidote."
antybu86 2 years ago
there are plenty of sin loving christians man. ted haggard...i can't even start a list because it wouldn't end.

From love, not irritation or anger - which he is increasingly doing.
bewarethelizards42 2 years ago
If it is his 'calling', I'm pretty sure he could reach more people with a change of tack. But maybe that's not the point? I wouldn't know, I'm not trying to save any souls or whatever. But I'll tell you this - with such offensive stereotyping of atheists, mine is one soul he'll never be able to chalk down as his work.
Great video thereprieve, thank you. I don't think I entirely agree, but I value hearing your opinion.

Rithrandil 2 years ago 2
If Brock admitted to another mistake, would you actually forgive him? Or would it be like last time and everyone would still hold it against him? He can't seem to win for losing and I support him because I've been there... many a time.
thereprieve 2 years ago
It's not about forgiving. He didn't do anything "wrong" per se. It's just about intellectual honesty. I'd respect him a lot more would be the way I'd put it. The impression he gives with these sorts of claims (I can drag out dozens, to be honest) is that he won't ever correct himself, and just keep on steaming ahead. It'd be like, to make up the closest argument I possibly could, if I claimed Ronald Reagan was a communist and just kept making that or similar claims, etc.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
TAA is big on love. Have you reached out to him (maybe through a pm) with love and respect? I don't know your history with him, but I know that when I've reached out to atheists, love still overcomes all.
thereprieve 2 years ago
I have no real issue with him personally. I think he's aware of my complaints in general, but I don't think he "owes" me anything. I'm just saying in general I think it hurts him, his credibility, and his mission when he makes claims (Whether knowingly or not) that are false and does not correct/retract them.
I don't think he's a bad guy or anything, and it's not like he's personally offended me. I just think he needs to change his tactics for his own benefit. I think he'd be more effective.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
More effective? LOL... he's been here less time than I and has 10 times the subscribers. People are hearing the message through him far more than I could ever dream of. I am a lightweight when it comes to evangelizing compared to him.
Give him a chance though... he confronted the plagarism charge head-on. If he's proven wrong in other ways, I'm confident that he will meet that head-on as well.
thereprieve 2 years ago
More subscribers, perhaps. But look at this way, with the Nazi belt buckle thing. He claims that they were all repurposed WW1 belt buckles. Not true. You can google "nazi belt buckles", see all the ones with Swastikas. Then, you can also find the WW1 belt buckles with "God is for us" on them. What do they have on them? Pictures of crowns. So unless Brock believes time-traveling nazis placed buckles with Swastikas on them in German warehouses, his claim is pretty clearly in the wrong.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
I can bring up other examples of this, too. The problem this creates, Reprieve, is that this is pointed out dozens of times *Within thirty minutes of his video going up*. He's made, what, four since then? Did he retract the claim in either a video, a comment, or an annotation? Nope, he did not.
So what this does is lower his credibility. It makes it less likely that others will take what he says seriously. That makes him less effective, IMO, and makes him less credible.
Rithrandil 2 years ago
"More effective? LOL... he's been here less time than I and has 10 times the subscribers."
Subscriber count has nothing to do with effectiveness, unless subs is his goal.
You know as well as I do that 75% of his subs are atheists who watch him to either call him on his bullshit/plagiarism, or to laugh at him, as opposed to many Christians who have atheist subs out of respect for their intellect/opinions. 100 people listening to you for the right reasons trumps 1000 for the wrong ones.
TheNakedAtheist 2 years ago
It would be dishonest to make videos rehularly and then say that you don't value sub count. I know I do.
Just out of plain curiosity... why are 90+% of my subs atheists? Are they waiting to call me on my bs, laugh at me, or are my opinions respected? In your opinion...
thereprieve 2 years ago
Assuming you care about sub count because you hope to change minds, or get your opinion out, and not purely for narcissistic reasons there's nothing wrong with valuing sub count.
I haven't watched many of your vids, but based on what I've seen, and the comments atheists leave it's partly respect, and partly the fact that they think you're intelligent enough that you might potentially be swayed to become an atheist, or understand the value of a secular government.
(cont)
TheNakedAtheist 2 years ago
(cont)
That being said DESPITE that fact you only have 66 subs compared with Brock's 760, you are FAR more likely, in my opinion, to convert someone to Christianity than he is, but I don't think that's his goal anyway. At best his goal is to preach to the choir, and reinforce the negative opinion fundamentalists Christians have about atheists, and secularism in general. At worst it's nothing more than a game where winning is measured in sub count, and the ego stroking he gets from his fan boys.
TheNakedAtheist 2 years ago
Well I definitely understand the NEED for a secular government... ABSOLUTELY. I also admit that I personally feel a little bit more validated with every new sub regardless of who they are. I think you should watch my video called TheAtheistAntidote and Me. It explains why I think that what Brock does, though painful, is important in it's own way.
I whole-heartedly thank you for your time, your thoughts, and your honesty. Maybe we'll cross paths in the future. Until then, Peace to you!

TAA=FAIL
TAA=FAIL
The two are indistinguishably disrespectful to opposition.
I do not respect either of them and find them destructive to their causes.
TJ gives Christians something to fight against, and Brock gives Atheists something to fight against.
However the reason why they do, is because both they remorselessly insult those who disagree.
TheReasonWhyGuy 2 years ago
I used to feel that way too... but then I realized that they are just people... people with video cameras and opinions.
I don't think either of them is remorseless. I'd bet that both of them have lost a little sleep over some of their own words.
Thanks TRWG - I appreciate your thoughts.
thereprieve 2 years ago
"I don't think either of them is remorseless"
I don't know, perhaps, either way both of them do a fantastic job of intentionally insulting the opposition.
Also, one of the big things that suck people in is confidence, and both of them have abundant confidence. However good confidence may be, its like most things, its only good in reasonable scales.
At a large enough scale the confidence comes off as arrogance, which people sadly tend not to notice.
Arrogance leads to ignorance.
