this is my favorite movie - hilarious - as funny today as in 1967
also the music was very very nice- love the theme song
Dudley was such a talent his music was Brilliant esp song lillian lust so 60's
so cool . oh the part where Dudley is singing only to get stampeeded by hoards of girls running to see.....DRIMBLE WEDGE AND THE VEGATATIONS MADE ME LOL LOL! JUST TTHAT NAME ALONE IS SO QUIRKY SO BRITISH SO HILARIOUS!!
The remake was utter, utter garbage. the only decent scene was the school teacher scene if you need a good, honest and objective critique. This film is a classic. Every aspect evokes the irony and wit of the late 60's. What people fail to realise is that Peter Cook was a comedy genius.Dead pan irrepressible sharpness, seeing through the imagery and hypocrisy of almost everything. The film sets a benchmark which many subsequent comedy's fail to reach.I could vomit with joy over it!
I remember watching this on AMC (when it was a good channel) and I was 14 or 15 and couldn't believe what I was watching, I loved it but then I had to go to sleep, I finally watched it all on bravo (when it was a good channel) and loved it. I recorded it on tape and still have that tape! Wanna buy it on dvd because I always try to quote from this movie. "Do you like feeling things?" lol!
I bloomin' loved this flick! I may have seen the 2000 version first, but when I soon found out about the original, I laughed my crazy head off at it! The original Bedazzled with Peter Cook and Dudley Moore will always remain a true classic to me!
@AnimalsInMyHeart Yeah with brendan fraser and, erm, i forget her name she was in the first austin powers movie? Anyway yeah it's a modern remake, nowhere near as good as this but still half-decent.
Saw this on BBC2 last night and was proper laughing all the way through! Brilliant! Im looking for a clip where the nuns are on the trampolines.. Anyone any ideas where i might find it?
Yes, though the original was infinitely more clever and a brilliant piece of work. It was a very funny satire of the 60's not unlike Austin Powers but without the benefit of 30 years of hindsight and a culture of irony. (I would bet Mike Meyers was definitely influenced by the film.) It holds up remarkably well today and is well worth renting, if only to watch Peter Cook and Dudley Moore at the top of their game.
Mmm. Raquel Welch. Oh and Peter Cook's a good actor too.

Never was the remake better - it was good, as remakes go, but without Peter Cook, NEVER.
