  • Man thats is just sick.........nice work. I am on 4runner #3 but I had know idea that anyone would have that kind of imagination to supercharge a runner, looks like fun to me. Cheers

  • @doncabb hey, thanks! It has been an awesome ride. I now have two kids and we take it on trips and run errands. It runs great still. It makes passing cars a breeze, even fully loaded with kids and vacation crap, lol.

  • I've got an '06 with 370HP

  • @Itis1123 awesome. Any vids?

  • I like the camera change on the shift to 3rd.

  • How much HorsePower does this BABY GOT!>????

  • @spainobain1234 I've never dyno'd it, but it should fall between 250 - 270 crank HP with all the mods.

  • yo nice 4runner so is the exhaust something i can order online and bolt on or would i need some welding done? also i notice ure other comments im thinking of painting some american raceing rims doing that tip on another video u have... anyways any info would be grate

  • @Demon1987 Thorley no longer sells this cat back system. Found that out two months ago. As for painting wheels - have you been to my website? check it out. the link is in my channel info (lots of good info there). Thanks!

  • @cdaviesaz thanks man will do... any sugjestion on where i can order and exhaust i can bold on my 2000 4runner? its eather that or get a magnaflow hooked up with dual crome tips out in the rear but seems like everyone here has magnaflow or flowmaster id like something diferent

  • @Demon1987 Just get a Magnaflow off ebay and have a local shop weld it in. A full cat back system won't get you much more HP so it's really not worth the extra $300 to get the full system over just a muffler that sounds good. I have the 18" Magnaflow, which is what Thorley used in their cat back when the actually sold it.

  • Ha cool. I didn't realize your truck was sc'd too. I have a 1st gen sc on mine. Thanks again for the paint kit.

  • Oh yeah, been sc'd for a while now. The wifey gets to drive it mostly though. Glad you liked the paint kit. Can't wait to see some more pics of your Lexus with the flat black rims!

  • i want to buy some Jardine mufflers i no why

    My last name is jardine

    Ben Jardine

  • I really like this video!! its one hell of a 4Runner, Love it!! what is the engine size on your truck mate?

  • Hi there - Thanks! It's the 3.4L V6. Take care...

  • @cdaviesaz supercharged?

  • @Demon1987 yes sir.

  • @cdaviesaz nice rummer man, but whats up with the shifting? @ 1:03 you clearly shifted with ur RIGHT HAND; less than a second later you are shifting with your LEFT HAND? am i just tripping or does anyone else notice this?

  • @Tamayo1980 I mention this in the description but I know not everyone reads the description of every video (including myself). Anyway, it was just MSFT MovieMaker - for some reason it applied the "mirror effect" while I was making the video. Looks weird huh?

  • @cdaviesaz lol yeah man that was hella weird, but yeah i never though about reading the description even though sometimes i do read it first. How much did the entire supercharger, exhaust, labor ended costing you? i have a 96 Limited with 90K and looking to get the factory supercharger also what are the prs and cons of getting one in ur opinion?

  • @Tamayo1980 I actually purchased a "donor rig" and swapped everything over, then sold the donor rig for $1300 more than I bought it for. So I can't really answer your cost question. These days a good SC'r is pretty rare, so I'd say $3K total, including all the extras that you need to do (valve body upgrade, piggyback, fuel pump, injectors, plugs, thermostat, etc.). If you don't do the valve body upgrade it will be just a matter of time before you roast the 1-2 clutch pack on your auto trans.

  • WOT

  • that sounds great man! i have a 92 and put a flowmaster muffler with 3 inch pipe and love the sound 4runner engines make

  • That's an amazing 4runner. I have a 97 Sr5 and damn I need a supercharger now.

  • Thanks! It's fun and nearly too powerful for the stock brakes. But the power increase is super nice when you need to pass or similar. Plus the SC's doesn't really lose value, which is awesome. Let me know if you ever have any questions.

  • I'd do the Tundra brake upgrade. Search it on Yotatech.

  • @cdaviesaz whats an sc if you dont mine me asking? i have a 2000 sport 4x4

  • @Demon1987 "Supercharged"

  • What the? At the end of the video theres a clip from the left side of the driver side (LHD) but then after theres a clip from the right side (RHD)...am I on crack? lol. THAT IS A BITCHEN 4RUNNER BTW.

  • Yeah, there was some glitch in MovieMaker that did that. Weird, I know. Glad you like the Runner. It's been a great vehicle.

  • Oh I see :P. That is quite weird. Yeah I love your 4runner; the sound of the exhaust and the supercharger is absolutely amazing. I'm hoping to get one this summer after I work a lot and definitely have plans to supercharge it. Though I gotta finish my JDM 3S-GTE swap into my '86 Celica GT-S first :P You should post more videos of your 4runner; I know I would definitely watch them.

  • Thanks! Email anytime if you have 4Runner questions. If I can get more vids up I will.

  • i have a 2004 4runner sport edition V8, does anybody know if there are any superchargers for it, or any trubo kits for it....thanks

  • I am almost positive TRD offers a superchargewr for it. Turbo, you a re probably looking at a custom job.

  • trd does have a 4.7 v8 supercharger.

  • i have a 2000 3.4l 4runner and am hoping to supercharge it soon, where did you purchase the jardine exhaust?

  • i have a 1999 automatic but it has two bottuns one is called overdrive and the other is says PWR what are they for

  • O/D off unlocks the torque converter and seemingly drops it down to a lower gear (or dis-allows the feature). PWR simply tells the elec. controlled transmission to hold gears longer.

  • o that makes sense could you use them both at the same time.

  • right hand drive and passing on the right? is this NZ?

  • No, USA. For some odd reason the video editing software added a mirror effect at that point of the vid. It bugged me at first, but then I thought it was kind of cool...plus I didn't feel like messing with it anymore.

  • Wait, does New Zealand drive on the right hand side?

  • man nice truck! i've been rocking my uncles 2001 limited with a 5VZ and TRD S/C for about a month now, i don't think he has anymods really, S/C and K&N CAI is all, but the thing flies! I noticed you talk about fuel mods, i run it on 94 octane and it's great, i can really feel the top end (as i beat on it once a day usually..) but now the clutch is starting to go.. ooops! :P

  • Sounds good! Just remember, high octane fuel or not, the stock fuel pump cannot sustain the needed psi at the fuel rails under sustained WOT runs. But it should be fine if you just romp on it once in a while. Are you talking about a Limited Tacoma? The 4Runner's didn't come in a 5-speed Limited, unless you mean the auto tranny's clutch pack...

  • nope, its a 4Runner, sorry it's actually not a limited, just SR5 (5spd 5VZ)

  • my old 4Runner had SR5 printed on the back, so did my dads '84 Hilyux Pickup. most toyota trucks have it, do u know what SR5 means?

  • Wiki answers says Sport Rallye, 5-speed...but I think this designation has lost much of its original meaning over the years; now it's just a "cool" badge or power package that the sales guy can convince you to buy so he makes his quota for the month.

  • that sounds about right. cuz the old Hilux Pickups my dad had were both 5 speed manuals, but our 4Runner and most other things I see with it are 4spd automatic.

  • so if you change the fuel pump the truck will get more horsepower

  • No, not really. The mod simply ensures that fuel demand is met...and with forced induction and greater fuel demand at the rails, the need is glaring. You can, however, start toying around with different pulley sizes which increases the boost and thus the need for more fuel. So the answer is yes and no. :)

  • all I did was cut a hole in my airbox, my 4runner sounds badass

  • Yeah, we call that the "deckplate mod." You simply cut a circular hole in the front of the airbox and install a marine deckplate in its place. You can plug the hole for water crossing or whatever. It's good for 5WHP on the dyno - I've seen the dyno graph. I have this with my supercharger. Another less evasive way to get power is to pull the fender snorkel completely off and remove the sharp 90-degree elbow. That's called the "elbow mod."

  • what supercharer are you using? my 98 is in serious need of more power!!

  • TRD. However, bolting just the SC'r on is very risky. At WOT it runs way too lean in stock configuration. So much so in fact, that if you sustain WOT the fuel pressure will drop enough to cut the fuel at the injectors. Nice huh? A Walbro 190 FP, piggyback controller, Supra N/A injectors, the "Free FMU mod", TB coolant bypass...are all recommended. How TRD got away with advertising this SC'r as a bolt-on item is beyond me. Ever wonder why they came out with the 7th injector kit? Now you know. :)

  • Oh, and if you run an automatic, then you need to do the Valve Body mod (increases pressure to the 1-2 clutch pack. Otherwise you will fry it after a series of hard shifts. The VB mod runs about $650 if you pull it. Level 10 does them.

  • wow... maybe i'll just save up and buy a 4.7 'runner.. seems easier!! LOL!!

  • You're not the first to say that. BTW, my friend has developed a SC'r kit for the 4.7L. His 4Runner FLIES!

  • sounds nice, but my 00 rodeo could still smoke it sorry :( .i literally smoke v6 mustangs and camaros daily(older than 2004 though.)

  • LOL

  • :) i bet ya want a rodeo v6 too huh? isuzu baby!!

  • LOL indeed

  • Sure you do

  • wow,did you ever think that they were not racing you? They probably didn't waste their time.

  • very nice sound. im jealous

  • V6?

  • Yes.

  • why did u supercharge a 4runner?

  • Because I got tired of 2 things:

    1. Getting smoked by soccer moms and ricers.

    2. Passing big rigs (or other cars for that matter) unsafely while loaded with camping gear driving into a headwind up a steep grade.

  • what does it mean to supercharge it? is that turbo? sry if i sound really naive

  • This SC'r utilizes a belt-driven pulley in order to spin two "gears" inside the housing which in turn compresses air and crams it into the engine. It has a bypass feature that, under normal driving non-boost situations, by-passes this system, effectively making the vehicle docile and "normal." As you start to put your foot in it, boost is generated (positive pressure instead of vacuum) - combine that with increased fuel, the right timing, and spark, and you get more power. Hope that helps.

  • yeah it did, a lot. Cool

  • No when he supercharged it, he put a supercharger...not a turbo...Almost the same thing though

  • Why not? My 4runners supercharged...not for the same reason though.

  • what's it like on fuel with all the mods? my stock 94 chugs hardcore...

  • On average, low to mid 16's.

  • Wow, that blower is a lot louder than you would expect!

  • weeeeeeeee!

  • that is AWESOME

  • wow i have that same car lol i have never seen another one just like it

  • Wow a 5 speed manual Runner. Hard find. good job.

  • by how much did gas consumption change with ur supercharger + exhaust?

  • I track my mpg in Excel, so here you go (I'm a bit of a leadfoot by the way):

    Before SC'r: 16.66 mpg

    After SC'r: 16.41 mpg

As you can see, too small of a difference to be conclusive. So the answer truly is that it didn't change at all, even with 308cc Supra injectors. Cool huh?

  • I LOVE TOYOTAS!

  • sounds pretty much exactly the same as a stock one

  • It might seem that way from this video due to a number of variables such as wind noise and the camera, but I assure you the Jardine system is much louder than stock. I've owned 5 5VZFE-powered Toyota's running everything from stock exhaust to a glasspack. The SC'r whine also drowns out the exhaust sound quite a bit too.

  • wait how come in the end it turns into a right side driver?

  • It has something to do with my editing software; for whatever reason it added a "mirror" effect exactly at that point and I couldn't reverse it. Weird huh?

  • yea, it would of been cool to drive on the right side for a while..ahaha..sweet ride dude..

  • yea one of my buddies has the same truck w/ TRD supercharger. it sounds great, but too bad he never takes it offroad thoo..

  • Nice stuff! Congrats!

  • dude it sounds EXCELLENT

  • v6? or 4 banger?

  • 3.4L V6.

  • that sounds awesome, I was thinking about getting a kit like that for my '99 supercharged 4runner, where did you buy it?

  • haha sweet
