this is a beautiful song and done very well with lyrical and unhurried well done well done and holding out the notes am in highschool doing this song and i think as a person going on 5 years chorus and a pro singer this class did a perfect job you guys should try "Freedom song" arranged by lon beery it was based on symphony no. 1 in C minor try it i think u guys will nail it !!!!
these are MIDDLE SCHOOLERS?! they sound almost as good as my college Women's Chorus! WOW!! my only critique, and it is a small one, is that I could use more alto. other than that, this is AMAZING!!
An excellent piece for the choir, sung thoughtfully with careful use of dynamics and a sensitivity and gentleness appropriate for The Lily and the Rose. However, having sung in places like that stage, it would be better if they were slightly closer to each other as it can be difficult to hear each other due to the way the sound is carried. Finally, the movement thing is fine, not all songs require movement to accentuate climatic parts of the song, the choir executed them almost perfectly withou
this is beautiful, i am a voice teacher, their singing is sensitive and their entrances perfect, the intonation is not flat andit is pleasing to the ear.
You guys sound awesome! Our choir just sang this, but with Soprano, Alto Tenor & Bass, the parts sound really awesome. Probably my favourite song of the year.
Am singing this song in choir! so pretty yet so sad.... In the music it says that a bailey is a grave keeper and that in medival times if they were not sure some one was dead they would bury them with a bell so that if they woke up they would ring the bell and be un buried. And if the bell was not rung for a certain time period they would say the person is dead and take away the bell
our choir is singing this at the moment. it is apparently according to most analysis's of this about a girl who is about to marry at a young age to a man her parents chose for her who she does not want to marry
It is indeed a 'brave' choice for an all-female middle school choir since 'The Lily and the Rose' is a 16th century poem about under-age sex.
However they sing it beautifully, as will London Gay Men's Chorus when they perform in December 2009 at Cadogan Hall, London and in Southwark Cathedral, the men's voices giving it extra resonance.
@klekje What movement would you prefer. They are not a gospel choir and people come to hear them sing not to watch them dance. Sometimes you even have to remind even the audience of that fact.
this is an awesome song and i loved being up on stage singing it . It was so fun it sounds perfect on that stage then in the chior room mr.norris you rock out loud i am glad i made it into advanced chior if i didnt i wouldnt of went and did this thankyou mr. norris!!!
This is awesome!I was looking for this song the other day because I loved watching the girls perform it so much.Couldn't find it.Looked for it today and what better a performance to find than the one by the girls!

Well, you don't move. You look like statues. Which is very cool and all, and you look professional, but I'm used to my choir. We CANNOT hold still =P
klekje 2 years ago
You are right.... we work on that but have found little success! How much better could it had been even...
jreesenorris 2 years ago
It was very good, and you don't need to move, if you go into a catherdral to see a choir, they are not moving :S
