I do not want a punk rock commenting(singing) when I watch ASP surf contest. I rather have Peter Townend or John Shimooka do a highlight commentary than this stupid dumb music. This stupid punk band are the kooks you hate so much - I wonder if they know how to surf.

Surf videos use music to what kind of flow of surfing the editor wants to portray; whether it be slow paced or fast. I find that mellow hip hop or lounge music tend to fit perfect with the image of someone doing massive roundhouses. Its all about personal preference i guess. BUT I GUESS UCSDEngineerDoctor "we'll never know". Who the hell wants surfing to go mainstream. We got enough kooks invading our spots in Hawaii anyways. RESPECT THE AINA FIRST THEN THE LOCALS.

I rather not have any music whatsoever. I rather have Peter Townend or Ian Cairns do a heat by heat analysis like they did on ESPN. I need the wave score, who won the heat, who lost ...etc. I was raised up doing contest surfing and stupid highlights like these esp at the ASP level is retarded. Kelly Sater, Taylor Knox, Shane Beschen, Tom Curren, Tom Carroll do not listen to this kind of stuff - and they surf circles around your pot - smoking people you call "real surfers".

If you wanted the heat scores and commentary why didn't you watch it live? I watched all my friend Seans heats, it was amazing. The last thing I want from a surfing video or highlights is more commentary. Like most surf fans I'll watch it over and over again. Now you can listen to music over and over, but not commentary and scores. Btw Ucsd its not all about competition. Lets try and promote free surfing. That means getting amped and cutting loose. I'm not even gonna bother with the pot comment.

Not all of us can watch it live. We have a job. Free Surfing is great - but it does not help our sport. It does not help our ASP surfers who make peanuts on the tour. The ASP is the SuperBowl of our sport, but sadly we cannot even get a Umbrella sponsor or TV contract in the states. And if I do see ASP surfing on TV its like these stupid videos here where they play this stupid music.

So lets compare your concept to other sports. What kind of music should they play for golf and tennis? At rugby matches they play rock when points are scored. What music do they play at the superbowl? Rock. I think ol Jack is meant for after the surf with a spliff and a beer, not during the surf. If anything his stuff is more stoner than punk. Seeing as one of his main influences is bob marley. Sorry but you're the odd one out on the debate dad.

Surfing needs to go mainstream so it can get better sponsorships. This kind of music does not help! If the ASP caters to idiots like you - "fagnut86" - kids without a job, pot smoking high school dropouts, listening to punk music -this makes the ASP tour a joke. It is sad when an ASP surfers wins only 40K for a contest. They should at least get 1 million. But of course when the ASP plays music like this, who listens? Losers like you!

What music do you want to hear, The beach boys? This stupid music and similar stuff is the most popular on the planet. I grew up in the 80's and punk music was part of surfing. Perhaps you should have a look at a surfing movie sometime. They're full of punk rock. Thank christ that surfing is never going to mainstream, who the hell wants that? Surfing by its definition does not breed conformity. Lets up the music if its gonna keep it that way.

Well next time when you're out surfing ask Jack what he thinks of punk music. Apparently he is a fan and used to play in local punk bands. Kelly Slater loves Pearl Jam. Ever seen the Momentum movies? Have you got any idea how big The Offspring and bands like them were and are in the surfing scene?

Well sorry to inform you but not every sportsman is going to make a fortune. Perhaps you're too ignorant to realise that. I dont think it was their intention to make a lot of money when they started surfing. So take your greed and shove it. Asp surfing friends making peanuts. You do not worry about money because you live at home, use your parents credit card, and do not cook or shop for your own groceries. Its not about greed dipshit. What about the Women's ASP? You think they are not complaining?

Bwwhahahaha. I live in a different country to my parents. They live near Jeffreys Bay and I live in England. Look I also tried the tour in SA but didn't make much money. That was 15 years ago thought. Guess what I found a job. Did you see Seans interview about why he doesn't do the QS? He said its because he enjoys surfing as a sport not a job. There's plenty rippers out there that dont do it for a living. I'll also say that some sportsman aren't qualified to get another job.
