I bought some essential oils. Will this work with essential oils just as well as your fragrance oil? I like vinegar and I'm using it with great results right now, but there is NO smell at all and I want my clothes to smell nice.
Should work but you do need to shake this before each use because oil and vinegar don't mix... like salad dressing! (unless you are using a chemical to combine them...)
@EdentiaFarms Thanks for the response. I am waiting for the oils to get here via shipping. I didn't think about oil and vinegar not mixing, but makes sense! Thanks.
I have been making my own laundry soap and vinegar in my wash for a long time but I am going to make the vinegar your way and I will def. be getting some tennis balls, what a great video and super helpful and best of all cheap!!! Love it!!!
Thanks for the recipe for Fabric Softener and the sheet (balls) tip. I was about to spend $30 for 3 XL Downy on sale,,,,Now i spray my balls with your mixture and pop them in the dryer. Saves Bucks.
@wheresmylife getting your fragrance oil for $2...A lot of 99 cent stores have them for 2 to 3 bucks or any where that sells incense they're usually near one another at the store...also you can use old perfume you don't wear any more. .
For laundry soap and for the vinegar I am using fragrance oil from wal-mart. I use either sandalwood, sandalwood mix or the clean linen. The walmart ones WILL NOT work in CP soap. They are marketed for reed diffusers and in the aisle next to candles with incense and stuff. Its $2 for 1oz OR $5 for 5oz.
The vinegar does not destroy the scent and my laundry comes out lightly scented, smelling like the fragrance I choose. The vinegar softens and neutralizes the bad smells only.
I only get static cling on very dry days. I usually don't have that problem. Usually wearing lotion on your body prevents it, too. I have one pair of jogging pants that are prone to static cling so I think it depends on the fabrics.
I just found an article on care2 dot com slash greenliving slash no-more-static-cling-how-to dot html says that adding 1/4 cup vinegar to wash cycle does help. So does 1/4c Borax.
I use only vinegar as fabric softener without the essentials oils added to it. Laundry soap already has a scent. I dislike mixing scents. When you use vinegar only, the smell from the laundry soap is intact. The vinegar is odourless.
I've been using vinegar for a while now. I use it straight and I agree it doesn't leave your clothes smelling like vinegar. Never thought to add fragrance to it. But I will try that next time. Great informative video.
its also good for "freshening up" the laundry. I have a bad habit of leaving the clothes in there and getting side tracked so instead of washing them again I just add some of the vinegar/fragrance solution and rewash them with only that.
Yes you can use it without the scent. I make my own laundry soap so I can easily match scents (or sometimes I mismatch them on purpose to create a blend)
@liline1ctou My Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils are all clear (usually colorless) and I never had a problem like that. I know it looks like I pour a bunch in but there was only a little bit left in that bottle. It doesn't take much. Usually I need about 1/2oz of FO for a full jug of vinegar.
Ok, I think I was confused on what you were asking before. Fragrance Oils and Essential Oils are not like cooking oils. They are not "oily" In fact, I wonder why they even call it "oil". They are very watery and WILL NOT leave an oily stain. :)

Respond to this video... Glad the tennis balls work for you. They are also great for fluffing pillows and blankets.
