  • Beautiful video. And heartbreaking I cried before it was over

  • Our GSD Ryder was a foster that we adopted. He was in such bad shape when we got him, but he had a good life with us and live to be 12 or 13, we don't know his age for sure. Losing a pet (family member really) is never easy. We just live by the motto that there is always another dog or cat out there that needs a home, and they usually find us!

  • My shep is my Angel. I have other dogs, and I love them all the same, but my Shep stands out everywhere. She gets the most attention from strangers, etc. She takes care of my other dogs.

  • Bless all who rescue homeless animals. I wish I could care for every animal who has no one.

  • Dogs should never be left chained outside. They are family, and they should live as family inside the home. Chaining a dog outside, alone is animal cruelty.

  • My special boy came from the shelter, I could not have ordered a more perfect gift.... he has healed my heart and become such a special part of our family.....I hope we have many more years......he has brought so much joy, laughter and love to our lives...

  • both my shep girls came from a breeder because the rescues here make it almost impossable to get one .and again i went to a breeder for my newffy girl .i wouldnt trade my girls for any thing .i would like a bigger bed though they have it all i get a little piece .

  • I would die for my Shepherd, as she would for me. I will understand the cruelty.

  • Awesome! My boy needs a friend badly, but he's not neutered (for show and stud though he's too young for the second) and no one will place a neutered dog with him here. I won't allow a puppy to come from him if the puppy would not go to a great home. The way my boy's breeder checked me out, I will check out anyone who wanted a puppy from him. Right now, he has no idea about fathering anything but his toys.

  • Very strong, I was very tearful. I got my boy ,Joey, from Phoenix gsdr. He is amazing as are the breed. I very much support GSDR and make regular donations which I feel is never enough. Please never stop what you all do so compassionately at GSDR. Tashaxx

  • O mu God! Inesent creatures!

  • can I help???

  • I rescued my gorgeous 8 year old GSD at New Year, he had a terrible life before. He is in a happy place with me now and I take him everywhere when possible, he is the most loyal, obedient, intelligent, soulful, creature I ever had, Dogs have wonderful souls, we can learn a lot from them.

  • i might be able to get a german shep in about a year or less and i was thinking of rescuing one

  • @jordanrivers1 So many mistreated GSD's and oh my god... Get much interest in your subtle advert?

  • Comment removed

  • @jordanrivers1 I don't understand what you are agreeing with... I work with rescue dogs and we get many GSD's, second to SBT's, some of whom were purchased from breeders! GSDR is shouting out for foster carers/potential owners of adult or senior GSD's that , oh yes were puppies! What are your motives (£3,500). I am fully aware it ranges from £500 upwards and you blatantly put that on a site that you know will attract genuine GSD owners. I'm surprised you didn't get more stick

  • I am soooooooooooooooooo getting a gsd now.

  • my gsd is an angel

  • Searh Adopt a Puppy on youtube and comment on my video PLZ

  • Some will disagree but i think the shepard is the ultimate dog i love them to bits unless youve had one u wont understand. So many people give them a bad name, idiots. Well done to all who rescue all breeds but especailly the shepard they can be a demanding but very rewarding breed.

  • agree! I love my GSD. She gives me happiness everyday! They are the smartest, most loyal breed and I don't think i will own other breed than a GSD.

  • @tunnelop I agree with all you said but one thing. I don't think GSDs are demanding at all. I'm sure the breed has a special place in your heart. I mean no disrespect! I think you are a spokes person for shepherds. I thank you.

  • @shepherdhand Thankyou, happy new year to your family and gsd .

  • @tunnelop I live in Lithuania the most stupid country of them all. In our town theres a german shepard homeless! He gets his food from trash and sometimes people give him some meat. Once i fed him with a bag of meatballs. I love them, if I had a house not a flat i would take him there.

RESCUE THE DOGS IN THAT LITTLE MOTHERFUCKEN LITHUANIA!!!!!

  • We used to have a purebred Sheperd. We called her Cleopatra Cleo for short. We got her wehn she was lost in Missisauga Ontario. She lived for twelve years until she could barely walk and we put her to sleep. Oh how we cried. So I agree with you.

  • what a beautiful vid. hats off to ya.

  • Very good video, and a great message.

...Although I'm not so keen on "puppy breath" myself.

I'm happy to pal around with any kind of dog, but I have to admit; a couple of GSDs I've had the luck to work with lately have seriously re-kindled my love for the breed (my very first dog was a German Shepherd).

In fact, one of them headed up to Rochester just yesterday with another NY rescue group. We should all be so lucky as to move to New England in the Summertime. :)

  • well "dog breath" sure isn't the best thing in the world but puppies are like babies and kittens, they just smell really nice!(when they are clean) or maybe it just me,motherly instinct activated or something.

  • Thank you for sharing this vid, although obviously very sad, but it was great to see them looking well at the end.....

  • Beautiful!! I have rescued a pure German Shepherd, when she was 3 months old. Now she's 3 and a half years. She was abandoned probably because being a girl...All my dogs are rescued - 3 found on the streets, 2 found at the house we bought, 3 came by themselves through and over the fence, when it wasn't repaired. Most are mixed, one is (also a girl) a German Brach. So, our pure breed are both girls and both German (one-brach and one shepherd). Good job you're doing.

  • wonderful video. :-)

  • awesome video~~people need to see this!

  • call me any time

  • Absolutely the most beautiful and smart breed ever. I love them.

  • Oh my gosh, that video made me cry...I own a german shepherd...Wow, that video is touching...x3 lol, I'm such a cry baby...*sniffles*

  • you do have a valuable point as i have always owened german shepherds bought and rescued and i could never see myself with any other breed, so we all should be promoting to ourselves and anyone else considering rescue dogs to be more broad minded.

  • it beggers belief why these dogs are mistreated. they are such gifted dogs and theres no other breed to match it.

  • this is an amazing vid!

  • A really big thank you from Suzie

  • Some breeds have qualities or reputations that few people will accept once they are beyond the cute puppy stage as with a German Shepherd Dog or Border Collie. But every rescue I have seen will also include mixes

  • i hate how people only rescue one breed of dog. what about the other ones?

  • Isn't "hate" a pretty strong word to direct at people who are doing so much good? Have you considered why they may choose to rescue just one breed? Many breeds have particular characteristics or needs and may not mix well with other breeds. A shepherd with a strong prey drive might kill a Maltese out of instinct and yet may be perfectly safe among other shepherds. Along with considerations for the safety of the animals they rescue, some people simply bond more closely with some breeds.

  • ya, since they pick one dog to rescue. what about the mutts?

  • Most rescue groups do take mixes - they must, because few abandoned dogs are pure breeds. For example, many Pit Bulls are mixes, yet they still go to "Pit Bull Rescues". (Pure bred dogs are rarely abandoned - they're too "valuable".)

I've seen many responses to vids about abused animals saying "Those people should be killed!", etc. Why not take that passionand energy and turn it to doing something that actually helps the animals? Volunteer - the dogs need you. = )

  • I have my own dog to walk and take care of, I can't. I don't have enough time. I know people on youtube are mean, and I never said that what they are doing is wrong. I'm just saying that some people pick one breed to rescue, and do not include the others. I'm happy they are helping them! Most people don't care!

  • Why do dogs [always] look sad? Aww...poor puppy.

  • I have 2 shepherds! Wish I could have more! One is a rescue dog and she is manic but we still love her and she will be with us for the rest of her life! I go to work on night shift and leave the dogs inside with my wife in the bedroom! No point them being outside if an intruder is inside! I know that my two will protect my family until death and that is the bond I have with them! NEVER STOP LOVING YOUR SHEPHERD cos they will never stop for you!

  • I have 1 shepherd. He is a very smart good dog. But when we walk him and he gets loose he doesn't listen to us to come back. He is very adorable and is 2 years old. The things he do makes us laugh. My dog hates when people fight. He will attack the person who started it. Which I find adorable. I never thought dogs were that smart. I never knew.

  • I find my boy will also walk off and ignore me, he wanders up to terrified owners of smaller dogs but just wants to say hello LOL! People are scared of Shepherds but provided you never hit or shout at them they are fine! They will protect you till the end which is why they are such a fantastic breed!

    Regards and respect!

  • I know. I love sheperds. They're not as agressive as pit bulls are. I mean pit bulls are not really agressive..only if you train them to be. I love sheperds. My mom grew up with them and I am too.

  • Try walking your dog with a short lead first then when you get to a park or open field put a long lead on your dog and everytime you call for him say his name once straight after say the name come at the same time pull the lead towards you and keep pulling repeating the dogs name and the word come, once your dog is next to you, give him a treat. repeat this everytime you go out until you notice you no longer have to pull the lead towards you, your dog will come.

  • @wembley05 yep ;)

  • Thats one of the most touching videos ever... I think I've felt all of those things with my own dogs and cats. Animals are wonderful. There's no love like that of your furry companion's.

  • I have had Sheps since I was 7. Been a K-9 cop. My last two Sheps were rescued. I loved them very much. Stayed with them till their last minutes on earth. Crying my freaking eyes out now. Thank you for posting this and your great work.

    Robert

  • feel free to take my free time to help with traning,so they can be ready for good homes I am a trainer and will give my time.

  • it´s a great organisation. if you see this sad and ill dogs you feel with them. So a very very big kudos to your organisation, which rescue those dogs

  • love this video sooo much i even put it in my favs. how could anyone abandon, or hurt this beautiful breed they must be heartless

  • Beautifully done. So many homeless GSDs (and other breeds of course) but thankfully at least some rescuers to help. Please folks, spay and neuter and don't buy a puppy unless you absolutely commit to providing them a HOME FOR LIFE, not just a home until it's not convenient any longer.

  • i gues u luike german shepards lol, great vid

  • What a great video! Thank you for all you do. :)

  • Well done, friend. I've got two rescues and I'm trying to talk myself out of a third. :-)

  • REPLY for obxemt: Oh, Please do. I didn't think I was ready after previous 2 rescues passed @ 18 & 17.A few months later visited abused puppy @ foster & now have a 4th rescue Pekingese / who spent the 1st yr.&1/2 locked in cage & never once let out. Now, I

  • Ha, thanks, but I'm not sure I need any encouragement! :-) We've been fostering for a Shar Pei rescue, but I would absolutely LOVE to rescue a female shepherd to keep my male rescue company when we're out. I've got a dozen (at least!) saved to my favorites. Just too unsure to take the plunge. I think we'll meet the right one and seal the deal soon.

  • i love this video from dispair to happiness thank you i adore german sheperds
