Imagine that, you could be sitting there all safe and sound and suddenly a 15 segmented house centipede drops next to you. They are large enough to make a sound (a solid "thunk") and they survive falls easily.

You can get rid of them by putting food away. Closing any cracks in your house or basement. Calling an exterminator.
These things really don't bother me. They keep me safe from spiders which hang from fucking strings. Would you rather a spider drop from the ceiling into your mouth while you're asleep? Rather than having a house centipede on the lookout for spiders all night? I look at the Scutigera coleoptrata as a guardian whos job is to protect me.
