I'd like to have heard more of the bass, honestly. It got kind of buried in the rest, to me anyway. I could kind of hear it, but it's not that big thump I like.
@MattersofDespair I mean, I'm not saying it's done poorly or anything, I just would have liked a touch more than what I heard. Maybe it's my speakers for all I know.
lol, i'll never understand the obsession with double strokes to fill in space on the hi hats. all the six and seven stroke rolls just get a little old after awhile.
that being said, cool track and even better, decent drums. Looking at getting one of these kits in all white (since it's utterly cheap) to use as a backup kit. thanks for the review guys!
wow, sweet track, is that somthing DC composed or is it possible for me to find and play it? also what cymbals are being used? im looking for som better cymbals
I've said it before and I'll say it again...Doesn't matter what strokes Ddumb tries to pull to convince us that their product has improved, their stuff IS and forevermore WILL be JUNK! Period. I owned a Dominion Dorian Maple Kit once 4 years ago, and traded back to my old kit within 4 months; That's how disgusted I was their gig-unreliability!
@Rockstaralan you're stuck in the past... I'm not defending ddrum's past, up until a few years ago, they had problems, but these kits that we are reviewing were designed by a great crew and have left that legacy with ddrum. So far, no problems, this is one of many reviews on this drum kit, you'll get to see more opinions.
@Rockstaralan absolutely not true i own a dominion duo fade and i played a lot of sets and this is an exelent set. especially the snare and the basedrum. floortoms sound fantastic too
@Rockstaralan So because you had problems with a kit 4 years ago you can say it's junk when you're referring to a kit with different EVERYTHING (lugs, shells, rims, etc.)?
That was my typo... It was a long day and I really didn't feel like re-exporting the movie for that.. it's one of those fun things you can find and pick out. Great job!
It's funny because I'm not a ddrum fan either... just the feeling... I don't know, something's not there. After watching this video, I still don't feel like putting 700$ on ddrum but at least, now, I'd like to give it a try when before that, I didn't even want to hear about ddrum so I guess... good job there DrummerConnection.
However, I would never ever tune my toms like that so I'd be curious to tune it a jazz way and hear how the toms sound when you give then a chance to (no muffles). Sehb.
@SebowTube - that's the beauty of Drums - they don't have to be tuned any specific way.. as long as they make sense.
I'm not a big ddrum fan either, but this opportunity to review their kits has opened my eyes. These are the first ddrum kits we've ever played on besides a d-bop kit.
this kit IS NOT triggered.. the black patches you see on the edges of the toms are velcro strips. watch the end of the video for more information, we play two kits side by side and we dampen the toms. Peace! DC!
@drummerconnection Is it where you said the white marks on the toms were caused by wearing away the coating on the snare, and by snare, you obviously meant toms?
@underpaiddrummer No, the snare is coated white, the toms are clear. The tip of the stick would pick up some of the white coating off the snare and smash it onto the tom heads.
@underpaiddrummer - no, the white stuff comes off the snare head and is transferred from the snare drum head to the tom heads. This happens with no effort either, the snare drum head is just cheaply coated, but it sounds great!
@drummerconnection Haha, wow, I had no clue. I always thought the white marks on the toms were from playing them. I feel stupid now haha..but I've only been drumming a year..and my toms definitely need new heads.
@underpaiddrummer I was thinking the same thing at first honestly. I thought the tom heads were cheap-o but it was the snare drum head coating transferring to the toms. For the record though, the stock snare drum heads sound great recording. Just the right thickness
@drummerconnection It did sound pretty good..I prefer Evans Genera HD Dry on my snare..when it's cranked up tight, it gives off a great sustain on my crappy snare, and if you put one Moongel on it, it sounds somewhat fat, but still has a good crack (reminds me of old-school Korn albums). And if you put two or three on it, it just sounds amazing.
Hahahaha! This guy has balls hanging from his chin! The question should be,How hard can you suck it?How can anyone believe these people?
