  • Thanks to this game and others my vocabulary expended a lot before I turned 10.

  • Final Fantasy 4 is still one of the greatest video games I've ever played. I grew up playing this game and still have tons of fun popping it in. The music in the game was and still is amazing for this game.

  • best ff music ever prob one of the best gaming music in general

  • I agree that this is one of the best channels on Youtube. THis is the only place on the net that I can not only get a fix for some of the music I had drilled into my head by hours and hours of game play but I can also show my sons how fortunate they are today when it comes to gaming. they can't believe the strides in technology. It's an amazing study in contrast. My hat is off to you.

  • This was the game where everything changed for me. Video Games could actually be a medium for incredible stories with characters that lived and breathed, just like a good novel. Cecil is betrayed by his king, by his closest friend, redeems himself and becomes a white knight, wages war on a villain bent on dominating the world, only to discover they are brothers and the last of an ancient race from the moon, where, after his brothers redemption, they must go to battle the great evil. EPIC MUCH!?

  • My favorite childhood game. I've logged so many hours into this game, and I still love going back and playing it.

  • For those of you who love final fantsy 4, FFIV: the Complete Collection was released on the PSP a few months ago. its amazing it has FFIV, FFIV the after years and FFIV Interlude, A story that ties the two togather. and the music is redone!(but i prefer the original music, which yuo can play) CHeck it out!

  • 6:27 sounded like a perfect cue for the scrolling text's narration.

  • One of the most beautiful stories ever told in an video game, with highly artistic music to match. This will always have a special place in my heart.

  • Best ever from 628. The slow song

  • i love the look of the early snes games, such charm and personality =D

  • To make this kind of music, according to a game. No other words then GENIUS

  • Best Final Fantasy of all time. Best video game soundtrack of all time.

  • Best Game Ever!!!!!!!!!

  • I learned how to read while playing this game on the SNES.

  • @Aphexwolf Final Fantasy > Hooked on Phonics

  • Can't wait til Final Fantasy IV Complete comes out on the PSP. Hopefully V and VI will follow.

  • Ah, even though I now know it's actually IV, it will always be II to me, simply because it's one of those that I grew up on and played all the time on my SNES. Heck, it and III aka VI are the reason I still have an SNES. Awesome music, awesome story, and an amazing free-roam atmosphere that seems to be missing from a lot of later FF games.

  • Didn't put in the "dreadful battle" or "within the giant" theme..tsk,tsk.. kidding.

I know ff4 has alot of good tunes and you can only pick a few..but that dreadful battle music is one of my favorite boss fight tunes, just abit shocked that you didn't put it in.

I agree with brallenbrallen though, good videos man.

  • Nice video. I love the final fantasy iv music. I remembered a lot of moments with your video..

  • wait IV, II? haha just kidding i know what thats about

  • Ah, *geez* garudoh, do you really feel the need to make me nostalgia so hard?!?

    ...I think I just nostalgia'ed a bit on myself...

  • The music in the world map in this FF is great

  • In my opinion, best game ever made. my friends and i spent countless hours in 3rd and 4th grade beating this game over and over again. an indellible part of my childhood. thanks for posting this.

  • Shame 'The Dreadful Fight' wasn't included in this little compilation. Fantastic bass line.

  • To Square Enix: BRING BACK THE WORLD MAP DAMNIT!

  • @8bitCannon Yes. Please do.

  • I remember playing this game at Christmas when it came out. It was the second game I played on the SNES. The music by far really pulled me in. This was the first game that I really wanted to see through all the way and I never could have imagined any game would take the many hours I poured into it to complete it and ever becoming emotionally attached to any game characters. Of course that was early 90's, and I was like 12.

  • @lampshake

Same for me, plus the smell of this Mulberry/Candy Cane candle brings back the memory....

  • My first FF experience...I do love you, FFIV.

  • The music in the FF series has ALWAYS stood out.

  • Which FF has the best overworld theme?..best dungeon theme?

  • @Oksenholt Best overworld theme is for me FFVII. Best dungeon? They don't really have dungeon themes anymore :p

  • No Baron Castle???

  • what a great game and soundtrack

  • am i the only one who thinks that IV just kind of represents "Final Fantasy"? it just seems to have that ring to it more than any of the other FFs

  • when this came out i wasn't born yet ;]

  • I played this when I was around 5 years old. It had just come out the year before and my uncle lent it to me when he was done with it. Best. game. ever. 90s gaming oh how it pwned.

  • I must've been about 11 when I played this for the first time but it completely changed the way I looked at video game music.

  • That map theme is top tier.

  • Don't know if anyone answered you yet but the song at 6:28 is the "Theme of Love".

  • All of the SNES FF games have such fantastic soundtracks.

  • This was my favorite one as a kid. I loved making the people ride on Chokabos and go through castles and such. Turning them into pigs and frogs was always funny too as young as I was. And I actually liked playing this one too. My favorite characters were the girls. :)

  • The soundtrack to this game is great, but I think it sounds even better in the Game Boy Advance version, especially the drums! Strange, considering the GBA's weaker sound hardware...

  • If only they had made the FF: spirits within based off of this or any other Final Fantasy game for that matter - Things would have been better.

  • I´m playing the Final Fantasy series backwards, I mean, I started with X-2, then X, then VIII, then VII and now i jumped to IV, and it´s amazing. Creative use of scenarios, beautiful soundtrack, it´s pure nostalgic fun.

  • SO yeah, I popped this into my SNES, the very first game to ever be inserted into the system, and let that opening theme music play. It was familiar from the first Final Fantasy on the 8 Bit... but then that orchestration started, and I just sat there and listened, for a long time. This very game defined Final Fantasy music forever.

  • First game to ever have a plot twist!

  • Hardly. Heck, the story of the very first Final Fantasy was one giant plot twist, and games were doing it before then, too.

  • I know, who would have thought

    *spoiler*

the first boss is also the last boss? o.o

  • FFIV is where the FF prelude started to sound amazing.

  • I love the Giant of Babil song.

  • ff 6, then 10, then 4, then 8, then 7: but as far as pound for pound goes: 4 is the one. It does the most with least.

  • I would personally switch 8 and 7, but agree with the rest

  • Love the music at 3:00, cave theme. This tune always reminded me of the movie "Puppet Master". Very similar melody.

  • the music you hear when somebody dies is so sad and beautiful

  • quite memorable, too, since so many scenes suitable for that song.

  • alwaya will be my favorite ff on snes

  • Even though its on a system which cant have the clearest, most detailed sound, i still believe that this final fantasy had the best music. ever.

  • you have great taste in music

  • @ZacurOwnsYou

It was FF6 to me that did.

  • @ZacurOwnsYou , well said. Agree 1000%

  • This game made me fall in love with final fantasy, it also made me care about the characters, music, and epic grandess that was possible. One of the games that changed the way i looked at what game could be.

  • @Oldschoolvillian

FF6 was what made me fall in love.

  • @Oldschoolvillian You're so right! This is the final fantasy that really started the magic!

  • You spoony bard!!! lol

  • One of the best - the granddaddy of narrative RPGs.

I remember this game being the first that actually made me give a damn about the characters in it. (Those twin wizards' self-sacrifice is still the most shocking/memorable gaming moment I've had.)

Also in the top 5 for music for me. The songs totally added to the mood, and a few even started with nostalgic nods to FF1 (namely the Intro and Battle music) while still going their own direction and having their own feel.

    Thanks for this vid!

  • best game ever! the storyline, the "whats going to happen" look, the music, the bosses, and that victory theme

  • This is my favorite video game ever. It was like playing a movie and narrative was so powerful and the characters so fun and likable. Best video game ever.

  • The music is so beautiful in this game. This is my second favorite final fantasy, right next to 7.

=] but I remember when Cecil had to turn into a paladin, instead of sheathing my sword, I Killed that spirit. XD with about 30 mins of fighting and a heck load of potions. =]

  • This is my absolute favorite in the series. 7 and 9 are awesome, yes, but this one beats them both, hands down.

  • Chocobo!

  • This music is so good. I am glad the composer has gotten the credit he deserves from fans. This music moves me. A lot of the music from this game does. I have considered recreating the songs with better quality instruments just so they sound better. lol

  • SPOONY BARD:D FF4 is a definite favorite of mine, thanks for posting.

  • Renton150, you do know that the Japanese line for Edward is better and that his real name is Gilbert, right? The line where Tellah says spoony bard is where he is really supposed to say "YOU SON OF A BITCH!". Yeah, I know, a lot more cursing than the USA version huh? Still, I prefer the translated Japanese version since it's harder, has better dialogue, and makes more sense. Anyway, FFIV rules! ♫♫

  • I know, it's just that "SPOONY BARD" is funnier, and memorable to me than "YOU SON OF A BITCH!". Anyway, I was 13 when I first played the game, gimme a break. And yes, FFIV does rule

  • Spoony bard is the best line since a "Woman from Baron fell down."

  • damn, wish you had the full song from 1:35

  • Go search YouTube for "Red Wings FFIV"

  • this is one of the sickest final fantasys and its a got a killer soundtrack

  • Come on now, why cecil, cant take anyone with that name seriously.

Almost ruined the game for me

  • Lally ho!

  • starting at 0:57 is one of my favorite FF music tracks ever

  • moon music is epic as shit

  • I love when the Final Fantasy Theme plays right before the final boss battle in FF4.

That moment is incredibly epic and touching. :D

  • haha, so tru

  • that was my favorite scene in the game, music was used perfectly with the situation

  • This music give me goosebumps, it's been so long ! I have to plug this cart in my snes when I get home.

  • Doh! These were actually the sound tracks I was looking for! For some reason I thought this was FF2 but I might be getting the releases confused b/w Japan and the US. The song start around 1:40 but I think it faded out to another song before the tempo picked up. Thanks again!

  • Aye, this was released in the US as Final Fantasy II.

  • They really screwed up with the number change. They shouldn't have done that in the first place

  • I'd put this as one of my favorite soundtracks. I've tried to play through the game, but I kept getting sidetracked & forgeting to finish it. Tally ho, neighbor!

  • This has got to be one of the best channels on youtube. Great mix of music, with different genres and tight, good editing.

  • Thanks man, that's gotta be one of the nicest comments I've received about the channel.

  • This was my first Final Fantasy game I feel awful for just beating it last October

  • The comments are well deserved, long may these clips continue!

  • OMG!!! This is my favorite FF you shouldn't have!! Now I wont have to play this game just to hear the music.

  • my favorite also

  • i love the airship theme

  • Thank you so much for posting these vids! Since I watched this one in particular 5 days ago I went on ebay and bought FFIV FFVI and Chrono Trigger (all for the SNES not the remakes) You have re-opened my childhood. LOVE IT!!!

  • Ha, now that's cool. Glad you enjoy the vids. :)

  • GOD I LOVE IT!!

  • I hated RPGs until I played this game. Dragon Warrior and the other 8-bit RPGs were too slow paced for me. I decided to give this one a chance, and now it's perhaps my favorite game of all time.

  • I will never forget the first time I played this at a friends house and thought "I MUST HAVE A SNES NOW"

  • This was the main reason I bought a SNES as well. Pure gaming magic. <3

  • Nobuo Uematsu is truly 1 of the best composers of game music.

  • no koji kondo is

  • They both are.

  • who?

  • koji kondo. he did the music for legend of zelda and super mario bros.

  • but he is also awsome

  • Nobuo Uetmasu it's the best!!

  • Definitely the game that got me into RPGs. So f-ing epic...

  • Seriously, this is one of the greatest games of all time. It was a foreshadowing of a huge monster about to strike the video game industry.

  • YEA!! FIRST. SIGH, the memories. What more can I say? LOVED IT!! FF IVEVER!! ROFL!!

    Rave &

    Party

    Guy 4EVER!! a.k.a. Brian
