i thought karate was gay. but taking kyokushin, it really showed me how much speed, strength, technique and discipline and humbleness i lacked. the conditioning taught me to withstand pain no matter wt. in fact it taught me to shut up and get up. i hope i answerd ur question. Osu
lol its pretty interesting to know what u thought about it
its cool that u changed ur mind about it. but u had to be like 14 years old when u said "i thought it was gay". now that u grew up and realised it is not so...congratz. not many do that.
My taekwondo master who i trained wit for 2 months said that karate was useless. i thought so, n then i asked y?, n he got pissed off. im like wtf? im just askin a question. So i left his stupid dojang n traind kyokushin. now i understand y its the most feared. Also, TKD is karate. cept, tkd has been bastardized into wtf & black belt factories
that is the right thing to do. if hter is a dojo who thinks their art is the best, then leave. my local judo dojos master was similar. he said that the fighters who win in the end are the grapplers in judo or jiu jitsu. he said that strikers couldnt do anything against that, unless they had a lucky punch and koed the grappler. complete bs of course and i left the dojo.
btw kyokushin has many kicks from tkd. but it is not the same, ther are some key differences
most of the dojos ive been to where the masters say their art is superior than another art tend to hv less students n use it as a marketing tactic. my kyokushin sensei has never resorted to putting down a ma. btw, kyokushin kicks r harder n more powerful than tkd wtf kicks. u hv to stand up straight( more flexibility, kicks r like muay thai but no dropping hands, n ur leg is lifted to the side for roundhouse unlike tkd were the knee is ained straight out. every art is different
if u compare tkd and karate roundhouse kicks, yh karatre kicks put their whole body, which means a greater risk, in for more power. but tkd fighters are the quickest in kicking and the most technical
have u ever done a spinning heel kick from tkd? watch human weapon part 5, the host gets koed by it. it is probably more powerful than any other karate kick, but less realistic and way harder to do
@bushidoartss i cant deny that. thaikicks are harder in technique for sure.
but do u know how risky they are? u can sweep urself, especially on slippery ground (like in astreet fight) if u miss and land in a very bad position.
though i think mixing it up is best. sometimes ujust need to snap and go bck to position, but when the opening is really great, go for the thaikick knockout.
@SugarTomAppleRoger I'm blown away by that humility and work ethic, even after all he did, and after running a world wide, multimillion dollar organization, he still shovels snow and trains with his black belts.
@kageromaru Not that simple, friend. if you invest money in schools and opening schools they are your legal assets so the are counted as part of your net worth. For instance if you have a house with a sale value of 1 million dollars and fifty dollars in the bank, your net worth is not fifty dollars, it's the sum of those two numbers, or just a bi\t less after taxes. he had a vast amount of intellectual property in terms of book royalties. He was rich, which is a good thing, and humble too.
@kageromaru Well yes, he used his money on karate, and of course his family. The point is no twether he was this rich or more or less, but that when he succeeded he didn't let it lull him into a false sense of complacency. Leading by example is what makes organizations succeed or fail. You see that in great leaders in all walks of life. osu
