If mine hears another dog on the other side of the garden fence his heckles go up he will run to the fence but then run straight back to me and stand or sit rigid as close to me as possible, looking at the fence.

There are many great guardian breeds, it is a matter of preferences. I have a Alapaha Blueblood Bulldog,not even 2yrs, & he is a good guardian. U can never go wrong with a well bred GSD(my favorite dog of all time),Fila,Neo,Presa,Bullmasti­ff,Johnson American Bulldog,Boerboels,Dogos,Belgia­n Malinois(big dog in a small dog body),Rhodesian Ridgebacks,Spanish Mastiffs,Tosas(if they are traind for guarding),same with APBT,Olde Bulldogs,Rottweiler( they are suffering the same fate as GSD & Dobes).

So we are all clear, the difference here is a GREAT guard dog can discern friend from foe without being instructed. Many breeds can do this, most people only become familiar with a few in their life, yes the Cane Corso is known all over the world as one of the best at this but not the only one. That being said if a Peek-A-Poo warns you early enough about an intruder, then at that time he or she is the best guard dog. The one that saves your hide is in most cases all u need.

Do not be mislead about a guard dog vs a fighting dog. Cane Corsos make fantastic GUARD dogs as they with little to no training will defend their family and property to death out of love for their family. A FIGHTING dog is TRAINED to kill another animal. Most FIGHTING dogs make horrible guard dogs as they are timid and at times scared of humans due to the practices used to train them. If you're trying to compare how vicious one is to another that does nothing for your argument.

@MrLeebo123 depends on what you want in a guard dog, they're bred to guard herds from wolves for example, and they're very good at working alone without humans. You don't want a guard dog that's not going to listen to you when you tell it to stop, might rip someone too pieces just because they think something needs protecting, they think and rely too much on their own to be safe around humans. They belong in the enviroment that they were bred for. Impressive dogs though!

Actually cane corso weren't breed to guard or for personal protection. They were breed to hunt boar. And to fight bears. The word cane da corso was an old italian term used for these dogs in its boar hunting activities. There's only one dog in the world that was breed for the specific job of personal protection. And thats the Dobermann.

Does the creator of this video have his head in his ass? I work with dogs like these all the time, and my biggest problem with them was to stop them from giving too many kisses.  With that right owner, these would make remarkable companions; guard dogs is only one of their qualities. With dogs like these, socialize them properly to both humans and dogs, and if signs of aggression are shown, take steps to fix it. Bottom line, these are great dogs, and this video is crap!
