It's been like a week 1/2 since I did mine and I'm still breaking out too! On the other hand when I put Retin A on the pimples they're practically gone the nxt day. I'll try a second one to see how it goes. I might even do the Rejuvinize peel. Might as well.
Well, I had the VI peel today and I'm excited about the outcome. I'm gong to document the phases n I'm excited to see a change. thanks again for this video.
hello, please can you tell where exactly you had the Vitalize peel done, I am not from the USA but want togo somewhere where they particularly specialise in peels for black skin.
I am in my late 30's, and I realize that I made a lot of poor choices re: my skin over the years. I thought about looking into the peels, but I didn't think AA's could get them either. So thank you for sharing this video...one question though: you mentioned the "awkward" period, the skin shedding and going out in public. Did you use a moisturizer to reduce the peeling/patchy appearance, and did it help? That would be a concern of mine, so any insight you can share would be appreciated.
Your beautiful, Thanks because i have relay bad acne scars im a guy so it would be weird if i wore makeup. so i was thinking about getting a chemical peel but i did not know that African Americans could get deep peels, so im relay excited because im going to start in a months.
Thank you so much for this video! I'm a teenager, 16 years, and I've got acne scars on my forehead mostly & I usually have a few zits and blemishes - and I really want that beautiful, natural, clear skin! Is a chemical peel the way to go for me/how many treatments do you think would help me? Would ONE chemical peel remove any of my current skinproblems? In Norway, where I live, it costs 300 dollars per treatment you see :-(
did it ACTUALLY get rid of dark spots? im so sick of trying stuff and getting fals hope, and i have quite a lot of hyperpigmentated spots from acne and im also dark skinned and would really like to know if it actually faded your discolored areas : (
I enjoyed your video as it was informative and entertaining. I've been looking for years for an answer to my skin issues. I have 2 textures happening all at once - smooth around the eyes and everywhere else its discoloration, unevenness and black marks. I've had 2 series of gly & lactic peels last year. The lactic gave my skin a bright look, but I couldn't afford the peels. I've been using RetinA 0.1% for the past 4 months and still no improvements. I feel almost hopeless. Any ideas?
I've had a series of gylco peels (6) so far... I only noticed a difference when I keep a strict skin regimen... I bought my dermatologist products, which I did not notice a difference. But I did notice a difference when I kept strict face regimen. I would wash, tone and moisturize with Neutorgena products, (blue and silver)..
@SongbirdDiva4Life I know you say you really like your dermatologist but they are charging too much for the vitalize peel! I pay only $100.00 at my estheticians office and she is located in a plastic surgeons office. You really should check around your town for a lower rate and that way you can afford the peels for your future peel maintenance. I wouldn’t go to a spa tho unless they are licensed Estheticians, RN. or Doctor :) Good luck to you! :)
Ur funny!! I wonder if this would be good for me I don't have acne (bumps) I have some type of conditio where I get dark patches on my face the they go away a come back an repeat itself over a over a I think its caused by the sun that's why I dread warm weather.I need to make an appt with a dermatologist asap to get disgosed a fix it before next summer!
I just had my very first vitalize peel, I know exactly what you went thru. Went to 3 dermatologist nd found one that charged $130 per vitalize peel. Yeah I did break out after too. Thanks for sharing. Next wed the 8th I go for a double dose of vitalize peel. Let's keep in touch please :)
You should try using Raw African Black Soap. I have also struggled with acne all my life and always wanted CLEAR SKIN! I have recently started using African Black and I have seen a great difference in my skin.

@darkwoman80 There are so many, but it really depends on your skin type and budget. I would suggest that whichever one you choose, just make sure it has an spf of at least 30. :-)
Hey girl! Hope you had a great thanksgiving. Just a few suggestions. I know life is about living and learning and experimenting with skin care is also part of it. I am a personal trainer and lifestyle coach. 80% of what your skin looks like is what you eat no matter who you are. So eating things like avocados, salmon, fruits and vegetables help tremendously. Also drinking water and taking flax seed and fish oil, etc will clear you kin for good.:)

I had my very first chemical peel in October. On a scale of one to ten I think It burned at like four or five and I swore I wouldn't do it again. I have to say that my skin looked so good after all the shedding was done. I probably will do it again. I wish you were close by that way I could help you out with the pricing since I am an Aesthetic/Esthetic student and we provide many of these treatments to friends and family at low or many times for free since it is a school setting.
Thx for sharing and talking abt your skin very openly. I too suffer from adult acne and hyperpigmentation . It is a very hard thing to go through people have no idea. Please continue to keep us updated and sharing things that have/haven't work for you. Smooches diva!
OMG! I love you for this video! Girl I was @ work last night looking in the mirror almost in tears because my skin texture and tone is crap! I have hyperpigmentation spots, my skin is super oily and the texture is rough and I have very large pores. I thought about getting chemical peels but I had always been scared of it burning the hell out of my skin and causing more damage. Im like you, I don't want to always have put on makeup and try to mask my blemishes. Very informative...thnx!
thanks for sharing...I am going through the same thing right now...I have bad skin and hate it..we are the same complexion so I get tips from you...I got a Glycolic peel this past Friday...and I don't see a difference yet either...I might try the Vitamin C peel in 2 weeks...like you I want clear and beautiful skin before the New Year too....
@1DivineChocolate I've had glycolic peels in the past and Like I said in the video, I loved them. You won't see a noticeable difference until your 3rd or 4th one. I know that we want clear skin now, but I'm not sure if there is anything out there right now that is affordable and will produce drastic result in one treatment. I think when it comes to peels for removing hyperpigmentation and acne scarring, we will need more than 1 or 2 to see the results we desire :-)
Hiya :) what kind of Sunscreen do you use? My skin is a bit sensitive so most products break me out. Any tips? Great video, always informative. Thanks!
@StarAsia2010 I really like SkinCeuticle's sun block. I would suggest that you get a sunscreen that is good for your skin type. Read the ingredients and make sure that it won't have an adverse reaction on your skin, but always make sure that you choose one that has an spf of at least 30. :-)
@tonidaley80 I would suggest that you take off at least 2 days for the days of heavy peeling. You don't have to because you're not in pain, but it could be quite embarrassing in my opinion :-)
anyone in southern california (orange county area)...I had the vitalize peel done and there is a spa in Newport Beach that does this peel for $85.00 (each - you dont have to buy a set).....This is the best peel out there. After my first peel I was told I looked younger and after peel #3, foundation was optional.
Great great peel and when you do wear makeup, you will definitely see a change in how your makeup sits on your face.....I didnt break out

Every time you said "squeeze pimples" and "no sunscreen" a tear rolled down my cheek LOL! STOP IT! Love that skin enough to stare that pimple in the eye and refuse to squeeze! Sorry, it's the Makeup Artist and Esthetician in me! But you're still such a doll I love ya Diva. And good informative video for your viewers too. Continued success.
This was so informative, thank you. I've been thinking about getting peels done but I don't have much experience with dermatologists and how to pick a good one. I think I remember you saying you live in NY so I'd love to know who you go to since you trust her. You can send me a message on YT. Thanks a bunch.
I would love to go into the new year with beautiful skin as well... I have eczema so my skin is always red and irritated on my face :| sucks! Hope all works for you!
Excellent information. I only wished you had done a before picture so we could follow your results better. I am definitely interested in learning more about this and having it done very soon. Like you, I am a pimple popper and have to hide behind foundation which only causes more pimples on my sensitive skin. I thank God for you and this info. Very enlightening.
@1DivineChocolate Hey, yes i've tried and been using their products every since i found out about them. I use their lactic acid and tca peel and much more. I was following this youtuber name Mzsweetcakes(IDK if that's how you write her name); she had a lot of acne scars(worst than mine) when she started and now her skin is close to perfect. check her out if you get a chance:)
@Ms777lalaland Ok thanks!!! I did my first TCA peel 2 weeks ago and about to do another one today...I saw a little difference but not how I want it...about to do 2 layers this time...so I hope this one works... =)
I love your video, it was very informative!! All you videos are great I want to start recording videos, what do you use to record them... video camera, regular camera, or your apple laptop (I seen it in the video about room walk through) lol?????? Thanks Diva!
I had really good skin... And I took it for granted... People... listen, she's right... DOn't pop your pimples, and scratch, and etc... Please, take care of your skin... I had a bad break out to a certain makeup product, and since I've never really had an issue with acne, I went and squeezed, and popped, and attacked my face... I regret it now... My skin is completely discolored, I have serious scars and dark marks.. Ladies, and gents, take care of your skin...
I did this to help with my acne and I love it. My Dermatologist actually sells take home peels which make maintenance GREAT!!! This VItalize Peel sounds exciting...I'm going to have to call my derm. THX Songbirddiva!!!
Hi Songbird! Since you're in the NY/NJ area you should really drive down to north Jersey and see the FABULOUS and famous Dr. Janine Downie. Please google this woman and see for yourself.....she uses something called the Beta-Lift Peel for her acne patients and I'm telling you- all you need is one! It's salicylic acid not simply glycolic based and it does wonders not only for acne but dark marks...Her rates are not outrageous and she is so down to earth; plus she specializes in AA skin.
@hotriceandbeans i go to dr downie.....and i never heard of the beta peel...i have dark marks that i have been tryin to get rid of and all she tells me to do is salicylic acid peel, which did nothin and i been going to her since july....to me shes not all tht hyped up as they make her seem...
@msmontega The Beta-Lift Peel is a pharmaceutical grade peel that's safe for AA skin. I've used it 3 times in as many years and each time it has really eliminated my acne. Unlike regular glycolic peels, it really renews your skin from the inside out and the only time I need another is when I go off my acne regimen for a long time. Sorry it didn't work for you.
@Aphrodite1070 I'm pretty sure that it can be used on different parts of the body, but speak to your dermatologist just to make sure. There currently is no drug store brand equivalent .
I do my peels at home. I've done 2 tca peels and a series of latic/glycolic peels. My skin a absolutely perfect now in less than 2 months. I wear less makeup and all my acne scars are gone. If you can't afford to have a series done at a clinic, order online and do it at home. Of course do your research first.
@Skye525 I purchased my peel from Perfect Peel Solutions. I have the TCA peel, lactic peel and glycolic. My skin is glowing, soft and smooth. I had acne scars, fine lines in my forehead, etc. I had to wear heavy concealer with foundation. Now I don't need concealer and foundation is optional.
same exact experience with the vitalize peel, I purchase a packet of 3 for $300 (usually $150) in Atlanta. Don't pull the skin bc you'll harm the fresh new skin underneath
Seems likewe have the same skin issues. Thanks for the great tips and your honesty when reviewing the products and pricing. Yes, the peels do improve the skin significantly pretty quickly. Do use sunblock at all times! I love your personality.
So were you able to where makeup while doing this treatment? You stated that there was a lot of shedding for 4 days;so I was just wondering....I have an appt scheduled with my dermatologist because my skin is breaking out,but i'm very insecure and I just can not go out w/out foundation to even my skin out.....
@UniquelyDesignedDiva you can only wear makeup on the first day right after you get the peel because no peeling has started, but no, you can't wear any makeup while your skin is peeling. I know exactly how you feel, I didn't go outside for 3 days because I was so self conscious about the peeling and discoloration. If you do it, plan it around a 3 day weekend or holiday so that you really don't have to leave the house if you don't want to :-)
Thanks for sharing your views on skin care on this level. At some point the otc products may not give ubthe results n you have to step it up to a professional! I'm following a regimen through my dermatologist n I plan on getting chemical peels to combat my dark spots in the near future and your personal experiences r helpful... It's not like everyone is talking abt skin care on this level. So please keep up the good work... I personally discussed yr acne video with my dermatologist .... Thanks
@LadyDawn1001 wow, thank you so much for your comment. It really helps me to know that these type of videos are truly helpful. I wish you the best with your skin care journey :-)

I am looking for a dermatologist. If you don't mind me asking, who is your dermatologist?

I had really good skin... And I took it for granted... People... listen, she's right... DOn't pop your pimples, and scratch, and etc... Please, take care of your skin... I had a bad break out to a certain makeup product, and since I've never really had an issue with acne, I went and squeezed, and popped, and attacked my face... I regret it now... My skin is completely discolored, I have serious scars and dark marks.. Ladies, and gents, take care of your skin...

@msmontega What more do you want from her?
hotriceandbeans 1 year ago
@hotriceandbeans i go to dr downie.....and i never heard of the beta peel...i have dark marks that i have been tryin to get rid of and all she tells me to do is salicylic acid peel, which did nothin and i been going to her since july....to me shes not all tht hyped up as they make her seem...
msmontega 1 year ago
@msmontega The Beta-Lift Peel is a pharmaceutical grade peel that's safe for AA skin. I've used it 3 times in as many years and each time it has really eliminated my acne. Unlike regular glycolic peels, it really renews your skin from the inside out and the only time I need another is when I go off my acne regimen for a long time. Sorry it didn't work for you.

can you use it on legs, is there a drug store brand that is equivalent?
Aphrodite1070 1 year ago
@Aphrodite1070 I'm pretty sure that it can be used on different parts of the body, but speak to your dermatologist just to make sure. There currently is no drug store brand equivalent .

I do my peels at home. I've done 2 tca peels and a series of latic/glycolic peels. My skin a absolutely perfect now in less than 2 months. I wear less makeup and all my acne scars are gone. If you can't afford to have a series done at a clinic, order online and do it at home. Of course do your research first.

@deedee2009slp What product(s) do you use?
Skye525 1 year ago
@Skye525 I purchased my peel from Perfect Peel Solutions. I have the TCA peel, lactic peel and glycolic. My skin is glowing, soft and smooth. I had acne scars, fine lines in my forehead, etc. I had to wear heavy concealer with foundation. Now I don't need concealer and foundation is optional.

@deedee2009slp do you go to makeup artists choice.com?

@1DivineChocolate No, I purchased my product from Perfect Peel Solutions. I'll buy from MUAC next time.
deedee2009slp 1 year ago
same exact experience with the vitalize peel, I purchase a packet of 3 for $300 (usually $150) in Atlanta.

UniquelyDesignedDiva 1 year ago

Thanks
