This was a great group, Wow the timing was damn right, Les Gray with that batman cape, Well He was seen wearing it, In Never Too Young To Rock, But with Dave Mount Drums, Rod Davis Lead Guitar, and Ray Stiles Bass Guitar, They sure stood out, They were The Swinging Blue Jeans of the 70's
Les & Showaddywaddys Dave Bartram just had to do an eric with the sunglasses to have my family in stitches.Simpler times? No,Happy days & better music!! RIP Les.
Question .Does MUD stand for Maniacs Under Demolition or is DLT telling me porkies?!
@jinty59 that's Rob Davis you're referring to. Kylie Minogue's biggest hit is actually "I Should Be So Lucky" from 1988 which was a small US hit, but it wasn't until 2000 that you guys finally cottoned onto her.
Absolutely brilliant song!! I was only 9 years old when I heard this song, and still enjoy these songs today. The music of the 70s,80s, and most of the 90s is far superior to the stuff we have nowadays.
It was sad to hear of the death of Les Gray in 2004.
I just love the funny quick lines he says in this great song!! :D
British rock and pop music didn't get more fun than Top of the Pops. This is my favourite Mud song - Les Gray's Elvis impersonation was brilliant, and it's pretty sad that he's no longer with us and even more so that Mud never made it as an international act - heck even the majority of American rock fans from the 70's have never heard of these guys.
As lame as so many of these popular English acts were, 1974 was a great year because bands were playing simple pop rock and roll again. I remember Greg Shaw and Mark Shipper writing about singles like Mud, stuff that American radio just wouldn't play,
But the 'as it appens' bit was cut out from UK Gold, because the ident handed over to the flicking eye in 1993 and but now EinsFestival have shown it.
Fabulous! Krazy times .. we won't see the likes of again!
