  • Nice video. Keep them coming.

  • Thank you. I love Buddhism:)

  • Mr Raven. are you a chinese descent yourself?

so you are asking your non-christian chinese ancestors who feed and bring up your parents during the colonial time in singapore or wherever u r in Asia (where signs saying "DOGS AND CHINESE ARE NOT ALLOWED IN" in some premises during the colonial time) and who also did the same to you to GO TO HELL. wow... that's called christian filial piety and fidelity.. i guess..

you are such a hypocritical Han Traitor! worst kind of Han Traitors!

  • thanks many lot!

  • FOLKS.... please check your history book or wikipedia on the subjects such as Inquisition, Medieval Ages (Dark Ages), Crusades, Holocaust, Antisemitism in Europe and Western Imperialism in Asia(3G- Gospel, Gold and Glory).Throughout the 2000 years of christian propagation, I am not surprised 3 billion innocent people died for their illusionary cause. While, Buddhism cause not even a single blood in the whole 2550 years old of History! until now.

  • @eclipsedoctober That's romanticism. In India, Buddhism was sometimes (regrettably) propagated by the sword. Although the "Buddhistness" of the ruler who did so is obviously questionable. In Japan, tenets of Zen were used in warfare.

  • Do not make assumptions that what happened historically in those Abrahamanic religions applied to others. Swords were never used in Buddha's name. Most ancient rulers who later accepted Buddhism stopped all forms of violence. Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq &Pakistan were once ancient Buddhist Kingdoms. Warmongering Muslims invaded them & forced them to convert. Buddhist monuments were destructed. Buddhism lost in India for more than 1000 yrs. I think u r confused with Shintoism in Samurai tradition.

  • @eclipsedoctober They're not assumptions. I'm just trying to be realistic. There *have been* ancient rulers who claimed to be Buddhist in order to garner popular support, and then unfortunately used violent means to extend their rule in Asia (not just India, but in China, Tibet, Thailand, etc). It's an unfortunate reality, but claiming that Buddhism never ever had any violence in its history wouldn't be Right Speech, IMO.

  • @eclipsedoctober Buddhism is wonderful and possibly the most "real" of all beliefs, and I have chosen it as my own spiritual path, but there are ugly realities in its past, just like everything else. See, there's a Middle Way here. It's not all good, not all bad, but a medium of both (although I'd like to think it's more to the good side lol).

  • Respond to this video... Do you know what is the most basic tenet of Zen? Just sitting. How could this applied to warfares.

  • @eclipsedoctober Yes, I do know, as I practice it. But another tenet of Zen Buddhism (and Buddhism in general I suppose) is "no self." Emphasizing no-self within the context of militarism was partially responsible for kamikaze pilots. Some Zen monks and institutions were caught up in Japanese nationalism in WW2, just like many other religious institutions that are the dominant belief system in a country.

  • Are you kidding me? Buddhists have always been involved in war, just not in the name of Buddhism and second, Buddhist extremists have attacked Christians in places like Sri Lanka and India. I think it's fair to say however that individuals acting in the name of their religion did these things. I don't judge all Buddhist or even Buddhism itself based on these people. When you look at the history of these events, isn't it clear that that they were using religion as an excuse?

  • And I would also like to note that I think Buddhism is an incredible religion and I respect the Buddha and his followers which is why I came on this page in the first place. I only said what I did because religious institutions and religious faith are different and Jesus nor the Buddha deserve to be judged by extremists and those of us who love and respect them have the job of making sure we aren't on the main ones propagating that kind of ignorance.

  • and you believe Jesus was a real person. borned from a whore without a fuck and died without a body (cos all his body residues went up to heaven). wow... what a story... even a 5 years old kid knows it is stupid! haha..Only stupid people or pscyhos (like u) believed that. by the way, apparently Mary was a virgin at all.. She's actually a whore who lied about her pregnancy. apparently she got knocked up by a roman soldier. That's why Jesus the Bastard does not look like a semitic jew.

  • yes Thats a true story.i used to leave in a country full of evil.they kill people 4 fun.u can not walk at 11 to 2pm if so they d take u and kill u 4 sacrifices. One day they take me and tight me in a three .they said they ll kill me at midnight by 2morrow. when the night came i was so scared only one word i remenber Jesus the that my mom used 2 say.finaly i they took 2 the back of the house i only said Jesus save me and they fall face down one of them said let her go and they let me go.he s real

  • Please note that in my comment, I said without referencing your own scripture. Quite clearly, the quote you provided is from the Bible, asserted to be the truth by Christians. To me, it is not the truth. On the other hand, many of Buddha's teachings are considered open or slightly subtle, meaning that they can be openly experienced and supported by anyone with some analysis. That does not depend on any Buddhist scripture.

  • How do you determine whether a religion is true or not without reference to their own scriptures?

  • Someday I'll go to one of these...someday...

  • A solemn ceremony indeed!
