  • george and slow hand, musta been a great show

  • The Obama advert that precedes the song is bullshit! This marxist muslim tyrannical scumbag is purposely destroying the US and getting away with it. His father & god are Lucifer, and he is unable to tell the truth at any time. WAKE UP AMERICANS and throw this evil bastard out before your country is a third world dictatorship!

  • I miss the epic bass riff (If you drive a car...) played by Paul on the original recording T__T

  • Interesting..............My band who mostly do Modern Covers put thisd number together last year. I did not even want to re-create Pauls original solo, But I did draw inspiration from Erics rendition here. My god was i lambasted !!!!

But Paul would not play in 2012 what he did in 1967, things move on.

    Nothing worse than copying

  • was this show ever released on DVD? if not WHY!?!?!?!

  • Meh. The guitar sounds so ordinary compared to the original.

  • Nobody will probably read it but i feel like someone will do I'm so just gonna say that i'm a 15 year old guitarist...i konw theres alot of them on Youtube

But Im different promise that... if u give me a chance ill show u but right now I only have covers but it will change soon

I would love nothing more then bring my music around the world one day

but I'll need your help so if u can please take a look at my videos and share it could be great

Thanks for reading and maybe supporting me :D

  • People baggin claptons solo clearly dont play guitar...

  • bartab420......

Yup, absolutely. How cool was that, he used the count in from "Revolver" from the original album track of "Taxman." It was cool then. It was cool in '91. And it's more than cool today.

    Brilliance never gets old.

  • Anyone else notice the intro count in is from Revolver?

  • I miss the hell outta george.....does anyone besides me think he and rick okcek look like brothers?

  • Great Harrison with the Clapton unplugged band :-)

  • Besides Billy Preston, Eric Clapton was the 5th Beatle. Cool stuf!!!

  • The world was better with George in it.Clapton rocks on this.Pure improv by Clapton ( THE MASTER).I dig the longer solo. The band is smokin"

  • I'll tax your fat 'cos i'm da mudda f*ckin' Taxman ! - Original lyric :P

  • Clapton, the 5th Beatle.

  • @AnalfaLucas

He would be the sixth if you count George Martin.

  • @momo86460 yea

  • mcartneys solo was great

  • ERIC CLAPTON - COMPLETE WITH COFFIN NAIL IN HEADSTOCK.

  • George looks so happy here ! Go George!

  • watch my layla solo on video responses =)

  • Clapton Fucked up the solo -.-"

  • @MrPangaraque Clapton missed the solo ? he did ?

  • great

  • awww man, eff y'all, that was a nice solo.

Clapton does what the FUCK he wants.

I think it's great he did what came to him rather than ripping off paul's solo.

That's Paul's solo, not Clapton's. Clapton plays his OWN solos.

  • DAMN, I'LL LOVE CLAPTON AND HARRISON FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE.

  • I think 31 taxmen must have watched this!

  • Well I think Clapton's solo on this is fucking brilliant so neeeeergh to all you moaners!

  • for neolibs

    horrible

  • Don't you just the way "slowhand" sticks his fag on his guitar, love it......

  • @themanfromwem wait what?

  • Miss you Lord :'(

  • Was this before or after Eric stole George's girlfriend?

  • @krblizzard This was after Eric "stole" George's wife. This was several years after. I seem to recall in an interview George made light of the situation saying he and Eric were "Husband in-laws".

  • @jaruel37 Thanks, I do seem to recall that they both buried the hatchet about the whole ordeal. You may not know that Clapton based his hit "Layla" on George's wife at the time. George wrote the song "Something" about her. She must have been one hot babe, that's all I've got to say.

  • @krblizzard George said that "Something" wasn't about Patty, and I believe him.

  • @Juliasaysshutup Really, I wonder who he was writing about. He was with at the time the song was written, no?

  • @krblizzard yes, he said that it wasn't about anyone in particular though, that it was just a song, the interview is on youtube .. here: youtube.com/watch?v=mZAPftYF8SU&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL at 1:17

  • @Juliasaysshutup it was about her,it George had just kind of humor his own, hence he said it wasnt about her,George liked kidding people

  • @bibi5027 .. definitely not about Patty

  • @Juliasaysshutup it was about Pattie, probably you dont know George kind of humor

  • @jaruel37 George was one beautiful person, yes his Husband in law thing so George

  • Worst solo that Clapton did in his career. Even for him is tough to improvise in a Beatle Song

  • @allemos

I think his solo is absolutely great...classic Clapton...

  • Agora vejo que Paul é um péssimo guitarrista solo

  • When it comes to art, opinions are irrelevant.

  • Declure the pennies on your eyes. Love the Liverpool accent.

  • this is a very cool song by the invisible writer George Harrison the man could play the guitar I think he was better than Eric Clapton

  • the lyrics are fucking awesome and never gets old.

we can see this in brazil currently too

    high taxes.

  • I miss him.. :*(

  • Happy b day george!

  • It's pretty nice how Clapton and Harrison stayed friends despite that ho Patty Boyd.

  • @kathyuk28 George even joked about that in one interview, he said "we even shared wife".

  • even if he was out of it on drink /drugs i would so love to play with the total contral and ease as he played it

  • very good solo by eric on that

  • George always told the truth- God bless you George. Peace.

  • Christ, Never heard so many armchair music critics bagging on Clapton’s solo of Paul’s “12 sec. riff” on the original song.WHO CARES! Why not just enjoy that Eric convinced his mate, George, to even DO this concert in Japan and was caught on tape to enjoy? This was one of George’s last concerts, EVER, except for London '92 as "Hari and The Highjack Band" with Joe Walsh, Gary Moore, etc. @elvishitler: “This is back when Clapton was a stinking drunk” WRONG! E.C. got clean&sober for good in '86!

  • @Revolution1117 actually clapton´s solo is much more of a guitar solo than the album´s. That sounds childish/sketchy and it´s hard to get, the hang of it due to the sloppyness when you´re trying to cover it.

Though I wouldn´t solo like clapton did, He´s Clapton.

  • @maneh840 Kind of funny how the original "solo" came about. George had tried the solo a number of times, and became frustrated with himself. Paul had said, "Let me take a crack at it" (paraphrasing). Hence, one of the most memorable, albeit short, guitar solos for the Beatles during that period. IMO, I like the guitar work on "And you Bird Can Sing" far better.

  • @Revolution1117 Sorry, I meant "And YOUR Bird Can Sing" ;)

  • @Revolution1117 Funny thing is how mature paul sounds on bass and how frenzy is this solo ;) Thanks for the info, I wouldn´t bet it was Paul playing it.

I took a "crack" at it, care to listen? bit dot ly/m6bkJ7 still a rough edge on the middle part but I´d say 98%

And your bird can sing is the toughest!

  • @maneh840 Hey man, Sorry, I wasn't able to find your link. Can you provide more info on it? Love to hear it! BTW- If you haven't heard a guy on YouTube (and Facebook) named MJSokes, you've GOT to listen/see to him. GREAT "Beatles" musician with spot-on renditions (and some lessons)!

  • @Revolution1117 So his solo goes bad, and he can't even give the excuse of being drunk? Poor Eric...

  • @Revolution1117 Even if he was drunk, he'd still probably win in a guitar deul with George Harrison. At least that's what we hear from Pattie Boyd anyway.

Man bet that wasn't a fun night.

  • @Revolution1117 WTF? people had been hating on Claptons solo?! I didn't knew that :(

  • The original tune is a great, great song, but this performance just leaves me cold...its kind of weak. no energy

  • @phantom5691 I understand your point of view that it lacks the raw energy of the studio version. But I still like this version - though it has a lighter feel to it. The reasons for the lighter feel are obvious:

    1) Harrison's voice was double tracked in studio. Whereas his naturally thin voice is exposed here.

    2) The studio version has that rhythm guitar riff in your face. Here, it is buried in the mix - barely heard.

    3) The studio version has THE BEATLES backing George.

  • Depends what you want. If you want great blues/rock with socially relevant lyrics you pick John's stuff. If you want fatuous lyrics but tremendous pop songs and hooks, you listen to Paul.

  • @inneswarbeck1 I don't think of A Day In The Life, Sun King, Because, Dear Prudence, Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, Strawberry Fields, Revolution 9, Across The Universe, Julia, She Said She Said, I'm So Tired, Tomorrow Never Knows, or Norwegian Wood as "blues/rock" or particularly political or socially relevant -- and that's a good portion of my list of favorite Beatles songs. I agree with you in the respect that Paul writes the best hooks ever. John is more about pushing boundaries, which I dig

  • I think that this was the best time for Clapton and Harrison, not too much trouble in their lives and awesome guitar skills

  • "blackie" you can tell he loves that axe....

  • GEORGE ... EL MEJOR

  • Everyone Type "Won" Before youtube.com

  • Love the extra lyrics!

  • BTW, a pity George doesn't play bass here like in the original take ♪

  • Who's the blond singing back up with the cowbell? She is gorgeous.

  • @readman57 Tessa Niles... the other girl is Katie Kissoon...great singers!

    Thanks for sharing readman♪

  • You Beatles fans are probably gonna want to crucify me for saying this, but Stevie Ray Vaughan's more upbeat version SMOKES the original recording AND this performance, though it IS well done by George and Eric here and I do like the way this one sounds too.

  • @uofm97 - Vaughn's take on the song is good, but doesn't smoke the Beatles. In particular, McCartney's solo is highly original; the album came out in 1966, and his solo is far in advance of what most guitarists were doing then. Also, he doubles on bass, and Vaughn's bassist is no McCartney (not meant as a dig, just that Paul's being one of the greatest bassists of all-time--listen to the bass track separately and you'll see what I mean). I do like Stevie Ray's snarling the lyrics, though.

  • He looks like he really doesn't want to be there.

  • ジョージ、最高にカッコイイ。

    素晴らしい。

  • better than the original version.

  • INDEED two names echo Greatness and a WHOLE lotta LOVE&LIGHT!

    Blessing's,Peace,LOVE,Light....Oneness...:)

  • God bless you, George.

  • great men !!

  • gran aporte, excelente rola.

the best music from clapton and harrison

  • Go Clapton!!!

  • What most folks didnt know was George could sing EXACTLY like Paul or John when ever he wanted to!!

  • Miss this gentle man and his great guitar licks. George always went along with anything that Paul and John wanted even when those two were fighting. A class of his own. So very much missed.

  • @skipper8257 Yes, sadly missed. Some of the best Beatles songs (and my favourites) were penned by George.

Within You and Without You, It's All Too Much, Love You Too and It's Only A Northern song. WOW !

  • I can't seem to find one George song that is identitcal to his recorded version!

    kinda frustratin...

  • Paul played the solo on the record. George was not in the studio that day.

  • @johnkiene George WAS in the studio, but failed so many times at recording the solo that George Martin gently suggested Paul give it a go. Harrison went for a walk, upset at the suggestion, and Paul laid down the solo. I think in a single take.

  • @danakerman Who gives a shite what you think nutmeg.

  • @danakerman paul was the most talented beatle with out a doubt

  • @scott29298 Maybe the most talented multi-instrumentalist in the band, and the most technically adept, but all my favorite Beatles songs are Lennon's. I think he was their best songwriter, but that's been an argument for the past 40 years. Just my personal preference.

  • even eric clapton is only george harrison's back up guitar player... RIP George

  • @RockyRacoons13 that's clapton's band atually. :)

but i do like that comment

  • Nice that Eric took time to learn the solo.

  • @Rigel7WasAlreadyUsed Are you kidding? What solo were you listening too? Eric just jammed his usual lazy way through the solo and didn't even come close to Paul's original solo. Same with his solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on "The Concert For George" performance. Clapton was really lame and didn't even bother to re- learn his own original solo. BOOOOOOOO! He just shows up and jams through it, BORING!!!

  • @bartab420 I agree my friend. He should it done it precisely, just like the record. shame on him. LOL

  • @bartab420 Boring huh? I bet if you asked Eric he'd tell you that there is nothing more boring than playing a solo the same way for 40 years.... Considering that the solo breaks in this arrangement are a good bit longer than in the original arrangement, it wouldn't make any sense to play Paul's solo note for note.

  • @danakerman Yes and no. There are some songs that perfect to cut loose on a solo. Other times you need to perform the solo as it's as important as the words and melody. I would consider Taxman to be the latter, stuff like All My Loving, A Hard Days Night, I'm a Loser (to name a few) are there as well. Other stuff like Let it Be, I Saw Her Standing There, The End, etc - go crazy with the solo.

You seem to not like Paul so it doesn't matter if Clapton or anyone redoes his solo.

  • @AppleCorp3 Actually I LOVE Paul. But when I compare his songs to John's, I just have to give John the nod as the more adventurous and exciting songwriter (for me). And everyone making the same argument as yourself seems to be missing two points: This is GEORGE'S song, and he obviously doesn't agree with your idea on the sol, since he's standing right next to EC, and, like I said, this arrangement CAN'T be done with Paul's solos because the solo breaks are more than twice as long here.

  • @danakerman Well if you're going to get all technical.... Seriously, I hear you. I enjoy this version and the whole album, actually. Just a matter of opinion about certain tracks, that is all. George can do what he wants obviously, its his song. McCartney doesn't always adhere to the solos in concert either.

  • @danakerman - I agree with you here up to a point. I just don't like the direction Clapton took the solo; the song's arrangement isn't that blusy, yet he did a typical Slowhand riff that seems out of place. Paul's just works better for "Taxman". In general, if you're going to change a solo make it as good or better than the original and not out of musical context. Macca rarely played lead, but in this case came up with one of the most innovative solos (maybe "mini-solo" is more accurate) ever.

  • Even more appropriate in these days than ever

  • Taxman has my favorite Beatles guitar solo of all and I only recently found out it wasn't George, it was Paul. So odd for a Harrison-written track, but I guess George liked what Paul was doing.

  • @Agent00Soul George was NOT thrilled that Paul played the solo. The rest of the band was getting fed up waiting for George to come up with a suitable solo. McCartney literally said, "Let me have a whack at it" and ripped off a solo for the ages. True be told George didn't really come into his own as a lead player until 1968 when he gave up the sitar for good. The benefit of the sitar was that it actually made him a better overall player. Paul played lead on a good number of Beatles songs.

  • @Ram44 It's funny you said that because one of the reasons I was sure the solo was George was it has an Indian flair to it - drone strings and some intervals. But I guess Paul had been listening to George's sitar work and was inspired LOL

  • Eric Clapton played all of the lead guitar parts on the original White Album recording, at George's urging. He also played on Lennon's "Yer Blues", from the same album..

  • @Alphasilverback2 Clapton did not play on the studio version of Yer Blues with the Beatles. He only played on While My Guitar Gently Weeps and that's it.

  • @Alphasilverback2 Sorry...you are way off. Clapton only played on "Gently Weeps" from the White Album and that was it. No other songs at all.

  • Where You Find This men!!!

    its amazing!!

  • AWESOME, two rock legends jamming together. I wish George (John too) was still here, but what can you do?

  • Loved it. They even mentioned the current pols of the time.

  • Geez, this was so drawn out and not close to the record. Sorry, but its so comercial.

  • @Kenoman29 It's not like the Beatles are the most COMMERCIALLY successful band of all time or anything

  • Would have been cool if he'd got Paul in to play the solo he played on the record but knowing post-Beatle relations that wasn't ever likely to happen. Clapton is a brilliant guitarist though so it's all good

  • ehhhh. there's too many other instruments in the background screwing up the song, just my opinion though. Harrison and a few other guys would've done it fine by themselves

  • this is back when clapton was a stinking drunk and he stilled played great.

  • I miss George, too.

  • GEORGE I LOVE YOU ♥

  • OBVIOUSLY george disagrees with all of you..because he looks pretty pleased with eric's solo!

  • @hujaqaa George had a lot of resentment of Paul and John ...his wounds never really healed after all that time tha elapsed since teh Beatles broke up ...

  • How about 'Layla'? mmmhh...awkward

  • good solo but not beatle quality

  • checkout the videoresponse i made

  • no no no no ... Eric ....you can be a Guitar God ....but you have to play the guitar solo exactly as McCartney did it for the song to become real .....no tricks or things of your own .... this is Beatles's material ...hahahahahaha

  • @JohnLennon100 but i thought McCartney played bass

  • @WildBillHickums Paul is a multi-instrumentist, and the best Beatle material is when they colaborate with each other. In this case, Paul devised this outstanding solo inspired in indian music. Actually is SO good, that you hear it TWICE in the song ....probably this is the only Beatle song in which a solo is played twice. Amazing, isn't it?

  • @JohnLennon100

The solo in Get Back is also repeated, as is Billy Preston's piano solo.

  • @WildBillHickums he started as a guitarist, so he always had skillz.

  • @BRProvince and kiwiaussiecanuck - Paul played the entire solo on Taxman. George said he enjoyed it because it gave him the freedom to concetrate on on the rhythm and the vocals. I don't know why people find this so hard to believe, Paul is a great musician. You have to remember that he initially played guitar and took up the bass only after Stuart Sutcliff left the band. Paul plays piano better than the rest of the band and also played drums on "Back in the USSR" and "Ballad of John and Yoko."

  • @saenglish2004 History man. People don't respect it whether it's music or politics or sports. Very sad commentary on intelligence

  • George & EC. Bros before hos, dawg. Bros before hos.

  • eric is god but george is a beatle....miss you george x..

  • ha ha Mr. Bush

  • Way too cooool...........................

  • George must have punched Clapton in the face after this show...

  • @TheGirlBeatle George didn't punch Clapton after he stole George's wife why punch him after this show?

  • @kurtizzyflush Lol. I know he didn't. My cousin posted that. xD

  • I love this song. But this version just sounds fucking wank! Must be Clapton's curse, the big daft racist beardy fucknut

  • @FrogsCock Have you been a piss ignorant git all your days or did it start with this post?

  • does anybody knows where i can find this show on dvd or maybe another video format... like .avi mpg... i want the whole show

  • dude the rhythm guitarist got no game haha jk CREAM FOR LIFE

  • So bad that you Clapton betrayed your friend, so bad.

  • Este Conierto es Impresionante, si sabes donde descargarlo porfavor dimelo, te lo agradeceria mucho, Grande ambos, Maestros!!

  • Another person who's time came to early

  • the backup player is Eric Clapton!!!!! the best!!!!

  • john lennon is still the best, bb king is great, eric is great, george is cool

  • I'm quite sure 'Slowhand' is more than capable of parroting the solo. It's not that difficult. Point is why would he want to. Might as well play the record. Hendrix never replicated any of his solos live. Nor, for that matter, did Kossoff, Halsall, Thompson or Django. :o)

  • The original guitar solo on "Revolver" was played by a left-handed bass player. No way Clapton could (or wanted to) emulate that.

  • @vachalia The fact that Paul McCartney was left handed doesn't means that Clapton couldn't do the solo. Oh, and that McCartney is a bassist doesn't have anything to do with it.

  • @23Tomay23 Paul can play at least 30 diffrent insterments, both left and right handed...

  • @vachalia you don't think Clapton could play a McCartney guitar solo because Paul is left-handed?? yeah that makes a whole lotta sense. Clapton could do it in his sleep.

  • @MOSKII58 having a left handed guitar is the same as a righty. the solo is easy too xD

  • I agree. Clapton is awesome but he never plays a solo the way the original did.

LOL and they say Mr Bush instead of Mr Heath. Classic

  • I agree. Clapton is awesome but he never plays a solo the way the original did.

  • Because Clapton can't play ANY solo like the original one, although I think he is a great guitarrist.

  • De donde sacaste esto genio, esto es una reliquia!!

  • I've never heard this before, outstanding version, sees off the original.

  • I wish he had sung like he used to, with a heavy accent and full force.

  • best version ever of this tune :)

  • @MariceSchiferl47212 or get it from itunes!!! yay
