The Belmonts were not involved in this. It was a number one hit in Europe for The Holidays though. (Buddy Sheppard & The Holidays aka Tony & The Holidays aka The Standards). My husband was the bass singer for this group and we're in touch with all the rest of the guys except for Tony.
These three guys are brothers in mind, brothers forever, Toode L. (bass), Ricknelson69 (baritone) and Mario Z. (tenor). They come together in May 30. to sing and harmonize and drink good german beer for sure.....
i think to ralf z.L. singin' "gloria" for half an hour. and if you meet dion at this time everyone would ask: who the hell is the man next to ricknelson69?????
a big doowop party with a 5hoursrunning video later on youtube. a nice idea i think. okay, thank you, good night, RICKY NELSON HAS LEFT THE BUILDING !
some realy nice pictures!!!! who are these three smart, very good looking boys? i think one day all the members of your channel here on youtube should have a meeting anywhere in europe coming together for an "onetimeallstarsinging". the biggest doowop-group in the world!!!!. my part would be bringin' the drinks 'cause my voice isn't good and i'm just a rockabilly-freak. but what kind of group this would be. 20 guys singin' just the bass-line of "hey mr. bassman"
Probably one of the prettiest ones we did. I think Tony's uncles translated it into Italian, and Harry, our second tenor, provided the German translation. I never liked the ending; I think I had a better one (which I don't remember) but they made us change it.
Some good pictures of the recording session are in the liner notes of the "Tony and The Holidays AKA The Standards" CD.
@1945bm No, the Belmonts are NOT in the background. I am married to the bass singer and know every member of this group. No Belmonts in the background - really!!!
NICE!
