This reminds me of the rants from the movie "The Network".
While it does have it's merits, blaming your shitty life on a big wooden/plastic box is a denial of other factors which lead to the downfall of the human mind/morale.
I have learnt English by watching disney cartoons on the television and I won a competition for a 90% scholarship because of that. You can't deny the positive effects of TV as well.
I love these sketches, and here is the BUT... nothing changes as a result of the plain & bitter truth that lies within the carefully contrived scenes & scripts.
We appear hopelessly addicted to ridiculous & costly habits that will invariably lead to our downfall. To me, we are a doomed species :-/
Thank you so much for delivering such a true and powerful message about how screwed up our socially accepted overall view of reality is. Thankfully I've only ever used that damned box to watch the History International, Nation Geographic or Science channels. I also have a nice habit of muting commercials.

This is such a good video. But TV is not all bad. There are great documentaries, history and art available at all times, if you have the right channels. People just need to filter out the junk, AND change the channel every single time the advertising blocks come up. Imagine if everyone did that? Maybe we could then have the chance to watch a good movie or documentary, without having our brains melted by advertisements for anti-dandruff shampoos and frozen pizzas every 15 minutes..
3.02 Saw that episode. It was a converted water treatment plant. And yes that is a red convertable in the room except now its a kind of sofa as I remember.
Cut the cable folks. My wife and I did over 10 years ago and our lives have been SO much more fulfilling. Go outdoors...take a walk...climb a mountain...start a business. The funny thing is, a lot of the truly wealthy people (CEOs of large corporations, entrepreneurs who created the next big thing) couldn't have done it sitting in front of the boob tube day in and day out. The reason they are so successful is they do something you don't, they work hard instead of watch TV.

I liked things like star trek and other sci-fi,comics and superheroes. Stuff like that taught me lessons and morals. Everyone was always on about Hollyoaks or shitty hip hop music. For that I was never liked that much in school. I was bullied by boys who thought they were gangsta rap stars and girls who thought they were some cheap celeb they read in their mags

@1337n0mad that would surprise me. English isn't even my native language and I have no problems whatsoever with understanding this video. A few years on the internet and a fair share of British and American series/movies is all you really need to get started :) Although my accent would be more American-ish, I do think that British English has a nicer ring to it and is more pleasant to listen to. Feels like there's more depth and a smoother flow.

The last time I watched television was 7 years ago. All it took was nickalodian cancelling Invader Zim. Sure they still show the episodes but none of them are new.
You only have to worry about your kids getting bad self image from television if your kids are girls, I gather. For television to give a boy bad self image, the boy has to already feel like there's something he's "missing" (like big muscles or a car or something).
Television pretty much prepackages how girls are supposed to feel about themselves and then shoves down their throats that no matter what they think, they're all around horrid and the only solution is buying stuff.

Yep, I'm more than willing to blame my country for this. The U.S. is chocked full of rich little sub-urbanite monstrosities called children/teenagers. The parents are usually just as bad. But not all of us are like that. Matter of fact MOST of us are not like that, but sadly it does seem that most of do want to be that. :(

You only have to worry about your kids getting bad self image from television if your kids are girls, I gather. For television to give a boy bad self image, the boy has to already feel like there's something he's "missing" (like big muscles or a car or something).
Television pretty much prepackages how girls are supposed to feel about themselves and then shoves down their throats that no matter what they think, they're all around horrid and the only solution is buying stuff.

haha ok, an early present? That tiara did not help keep her humility. I got angry when my mother opened her christmas present early because I wanted it to be special for her. I can understand the girl's frustration because she's in a state of delusion and thinks her mother should know all this because everything needs to be perfect for her precious party, but I think everyone still hates her. I would also watch that rabbit cartoon but I'd prefer they'd made it longer.
