@welditup85 Um well good question, the way it was designed was in "kit" form so that you could actual transplant the same thing into another existing buell blast, it used the existing wiring harness and all of the existing hand bar controls (except the clutch) but we just never got around to building any of the kits. We sold that prototype bike on ebay for around $3k but the kit would cost about that much as well, the engine alone was $1500.
@swtartdude - would love to pick your brain on your kit development. Friend and myself are thinking of producing kits and/or parts for bike conversions to diesel. So far a Dnepr, & Honda have been converted successfuly.
@swtartdude Damn, I would so spring for one of those kits. I would love to run a biodiesel bike or run off road diesel in it. Not like they would dip a bike anyways! Why did you not make any kits?
What an awesome creation. Keep up the intellectual work. It is too bad that people like meanlowgreen "dudes" only want to bash you but it is obvious to me that he is jealous. Who gives a crap if his bike is faster. It is clear to me that his brain is not faster. I bet there is more intellect in a balled up piece of paper at the bottom of a landfill. Anyway, love the bike and the idea of a less pollution. We need more winners like you and less meanlowgreen losers!!!!!
Have you thought about converting one to run on alcohol ? I've been pawing over David Blume's book "Alcohol can be a gas" and thought about checking into a conversion kit for a motorcycle application . Not sure if he himself makes one, but I think in the long run it may be more practical than converting to diesel . What are your thoughts on this ?
maybe, this was more of a proof of concept, it would have to be a separate transmission like a Harley 6 speed or something. we have put other diesels with separate trans's and work fine but this one was really cramped as it was even with just a centrifugal clutch and jack shaft.
MEANlowGREEN, I'm no expert but been learning more and more about diesels. the Torque of diesels allow for less HP for same amount of work compared to a gasser at some points in the RPM range.
the CVT is a superior tranny than a gearbox and clutch when it comes to available gear ratios.. when your kids have kids... gearboxes will be history. All will be auto CVT like design.
Dude, you put a riding lawn mower engine on a Buell! Do you feel like this was an improvement? I know you are getting 100 mpg but the stock bike gets 75 and would blow by yours in second gear. I'm guessing you've built the slowest motorcycle to hit the highway in quite a few decades.. Just curious, did you even try to use a clutch and hook it to the gearbox? I'm thinking that would help it out a lot but it's still not gonna be half as fast as a normal Buell Blast & it only gets 25% better mpg.
100 was a pure low side est. we didnt wanna say what it really got because it was temperamental and inconsistent. i personally put over 600 miles on it and saw high numbers of 120-130. and actually if you put just some red off road fuel in it, it will go even farther. it has like a 2.8 gal tank so do the math.
And I thought I had a cool Blast! This thing is AWESOME!! Great job on it, something this creative wouldn't cross very many minds. 12hp isnt very conducive to how I ride, but for a 100mpg around town AUTOMATIC bike, this is sweet! Congratulations!
your a bitch buy a real bike this bike is for woman

Is vicious cycles still in business, I want to convert a kz1000p to a turbo diesel. If vicious is done can you point me in the right direction?

did you use CVT?

Hey you got a parts list for things you need to do in order to make this work?

That is Kick Ass! I want one. What is the top speed and how much would you sell it for?
CorvetteLvr2000 1 year ago
@CorvetteLvr2000 Um top speed was like 65 or 70, with a different clutch you could go a little faster than that
swtartdude 1 year ago
would be better with a stack
brilliant idea though for 100mpg i would rather be seen on that then a vespa of simlare mpg

I love this. I own a Blast in addition to three other Buell's, and would love to ride something like this.
froggypwns 1 year ago
MEANlowGREEN it may be only 25-30% better, but with a little bio-diesel know how, it's 0 gas 100% used veggie oil.

Very nice- What is the average lifespan of the diesel engine?

Curious. What's it's maximum speed? Are you using a CVT like a Comet 94C? What's the riding experience like?

interesting, and totally different. def something you have to get used to.

@MEANlowGREEN 25% gain is a pretty huge improvement. As for the buell being faster. Nobody that buys a blast because they like speed.
