I saw that funnel cloud in a different video from the same night. There also appeared to be an actual tornado (funnel cloud touching the ground) to the right of that larger cloud that might not have been as visible because it was more white in color...

@megs905 yes they are the town i used to live in had all allertors but they were all taken down and replaced by other sirens those were eventually taken down and replaced by the wonderful(sarcastic)whelen

All of these videos that say chicago tornado, but I haven't seen one. I remember one time a tornado picked wrigley field up and dumped it into lake michigan. Luckily the scrubs were on the road and no one was hurt. Of course they had to rebuild the park the same exact way they had it before.

Cubs Are AWESOME I was visiting my uncle Nate Cook and we were up on the roof of his apartment buidling looking at the lightning and thinked we saw a funnel cloud and he lives like 6 blocks from Wrigley and we could hear the sirens from there man their freaky sirens...did i mention GO CUBBIES!!!

yea ive seen a funnel we were driving to Findly to see a Movie and there were bad storms that day we looked out the window to the left and saw a Funnel coming down One day cuz i used to live right near a Tornadoe Siren it was funny cuz there was a Big Field and very dark clouds were near and the Siren went off i was little and my babysitter said it might just be a drill she had us out on her porch wow very unproffesinal she had to little kids to she had a basement but we never went in it LOL

It's a Federal Signal Modulator. You can faintly hear the one in the background doing Alternate Wail signal, and the one at Wrigley is doing Fast Wail signal.

i remember this day. a tornado started forming somewhere in dupage county (which is where my mother lives and i was visiting on the weekend), sirens were crazy, tv started yelling out warnings, power flickered, and i actually saw like a tube coming from the sky which i believed it was a tornado. anyways, the cubs lost. thats all i care about

Haven't commented on my own video yet, but just wanted to throw a few points out there - the flash showing a wall cloud/funnel whatever it was (not a weather guy) 9 seconds in, I never noticed it until people here mentioned it. Had I noticed it while up there, I probably would have gone down to the lower level with everyone else. 2, there wasn't a very good "evacuation" of the upper deck. Lots of us were up there. 3, if it had all ended in Wrigley, I can think of worse things... GO CUBS!

ok, the leading edge of an MCS can produce tornadoes, but are not "true tornadoes" if that makes sense. they are landspouts caused by inflow and outflow.

They were not "true tornadoes" because a "true tornado" is produced by an intense updraft from a supercell thunderstorm. The ones that hit Illinois/Indiana were not caused by an intense updraft, they were caused by the strong inflow/outflow winds colliding at the leading edge of the MCS.

This was an MCS which started out in eastern Iowa. You're not going to find any tornadoes at the front of the storm, and that is a SHELF cloud, not a wall cloud. Cool video, 94 mph wind gust reported on Lake Michigan just off the shore of Chicago.
