This was an all day concert. Paul McCartney played before Pink Floyd, and they were they last act of a long day. I was cold, wet and my contact lenses were burning my eyes. I left uring Hey Jude and missed Floyd all together. I'm still kicking myself in the ass for that.
I'm TOTALLY in love of the saxophonist, what a great sax player, that's amazing, how can they call "music" their unalive sound they put on the radio when you listen to this masterpiece...
Pink Floyd cherish my ears and my soul. Nobody else in the whole world wide is able to give to sense of inner peace and at the same time to let my skin shiver.
"Shine on you crazy diamond" is one of their mastepieces.
Richard looks pretty alright in this video. It really bothered me how Richard Wright passed in 08 and it really wasn't a huge deal. Without Richard Pink Floyd would be just another decent band and not the gods that they are.
this song makes me feel like I am in the sky floating and do not have anything to worry about! Pink Floyd was Genius, R.I.P. Richard Wright and Syd barrett! :(

Es una de las intervenciones de saxo tenor mas imponentes que e escuchado para este glorioso tema! , q grande es esa saxofonista,. No podria decir q las versiones actuales suenan tan bien como las añejas q magia....
It was absolutely cool to be in LA in 1968 and present when Pink Floyd was doing concerts at the Shrine Auditorium. They would walk on stage, pick up their instruments, and play for 3 hours straight without stopping, flowing melodically, rhythmically, seamlessly from one piece to the next. And anyone from the 1960's who does not remember those times, must have been mindless, heartless, and/or just plain unconsciously oblivious then and/or perhaps now.
There's still plenty of good music being made out thee, you just don't hear about it like we used to. Lacuna Coil, The Hiatus, and plenty of other bands are kicking rock and roll ass, you just have to seek it out. Radio is dead, nothing new really breaks there unless you have a good college station in your town. Japan has a phenomenal rock scene we just don't hear about it here in the states. Try myspace for new music. All is not lost, it's just that "these times they are a-changing".
Yes i to was born in 48 and seen many live concerts from The Eagles,Stones, The Who,Cream,Blind Faith,Canned Heat,Led Zeppelin and many more. But nothing and i mean nothing compares to Pink Floyd at the Hollywood Bowl. Two times i enjoyed the surround sound they used. Coming at u from all directions. What a f....king rush.
Only one thing to say. I was born in '48 and I am so blessed to have known Floyd and literally thousands of other incredible artists of all genre. Please, everyone,my time is short. Pass on what you have heard and seen to the young ones. Let them find the wonderland and pass it on themselves. Bless all.
I guess the 70s and 80s were a golden time. Not only for music but in general. Everything was going well worldwide, people were more real, the economy was really good (in the developed countries)....Now look at us. We have deteriorated so much, I can just feel how all this sh*t is going to collapse on our heads any time now...
@Kando0615 Golden times, yes. A veritable Eden when everything was perfect. No troubles, no troubles at all... Oh yeah, forgot about that Viet Nam War thing, the '72 Olympics, the 70's Energy Crisis, recession and stagflation, the Iran Hostage Crisis, the Cold War threat of Nuclear Annihilation. Any of those things ring a bell? Economically and geopolitically, the world hasn't changed much! Still the same problems, just with some new faces, along with some of the same old faces.
Anyone that knows anything about music on a more advanced theoretical level would tell you that this has to be one of the most genius rock songs ever, due to the fact that both parts of the "Shine On You Crazy Diamonds" songs together are actually 9 different movements. Freaken brilliant!!!
*Begins...* Wow, this part is fucking good ... Wow, this part,'s better ! ... Wow, this one is even better than the two first ! ... What the fuck, this saxophone solo is even better ! Is there any limit to Pink Floyds talent ?

@CrazyGirl12123 man i feel your pain i was born in 77 and i got to live the music when bands from the late 60's and 70's were at their prime from floyd, members of the beatles, zepplin, the who, stones, queen, etc to the 80's with guns n roses and metallica music then was treated as art and a way of life. I feel sorry for this generation with all fake manufactured non-sense they call music now.
@kalen486 amen! justin beiber, lady gaga, katy pery...the list just goes on. most of the really good bands dont get the credit the deserve because the mainstream media is so polluted by shit music. just look at the grammy's award this year and you would despair with the list of nominations. i so missed (born in late 80's) the times when music actually say something intellectual...
@kalen486 I know. I was born in '61 and it was still too late in my own opinion. I woulda liked to have been born early enough so I could 've gone to the original Woodstock. I Woulda Loved That!!! Wow. Still born too late..... :)
Hi My name is Debbie Burgreen. I am in California but I was at the original Woodstock in 1969. I am still there. My values are still the same but I have grown spiritually. I am 60 now but still in 1969.
@kalen486 hey at least u weren't born in the 90's! lol. we have to deal with this so called music they have today. i was born '92! I was born too late! ;(
@kalen486 Excuse me but I was in hi school in the 70's and saw many of those great bands, but the music today is more exciting and because of digital technology a new element of songwriritng possibilities are reborn every day. This was impossible in the 70's, I'm not saying todays music is "better", but it's evolving...as it must. I could listen to Just Beaver or Selena Gomez just as easy as Pink Floyd.
I must be the greatest pInk floyd fan ever, and i think this music is a masterpeace, however i dislike the video... just 4 u ppl understand that the only thing that matters is that u hear the music and feel it :D it doesnt matter if someone clicks on a fuckin botom :D
@SydBarrett997 Just because you don´t like the music by the people you´ve listed doesn´t give you the right to say "fuck these people". That´s ignorant.
This song is straight up haunting , its feels like the notes are just able to tell the story of Pink Floyds tragedy with Syd without having to write any lyrics , as if the lyrics weren't genius already. simply amazing . simply genius.
this era will never ever come back, where musicians used to spend time to write and compose a song or a tune,everything was acoustic, and improvised and inspired, nowadays music became just a noise with a nonsense words & lyrics, even the quick generation of this time can't make a difference between music or noise, respect to all music & musicians of 60 & 70, PINK FLOYD 4 EVER
@petitfiloux1 This is plain wrong. This era will never come back, true that. But to say that nowadays youth has no sense of music and can't respect gods like Pink floyd is plain wrong.
Good lord... One of the most amazing pieces of music ever written, and this is an amazingly tight rendition. And David Gilmour - oh, man, we are NOT WORTHY!!!
that's funny, considering that you have the band name in your screen name. Methinks that you're trying to instill a sense of pride in the band rather than hatred towards the band.Almost like reverse psychology perhaps?
David Gilmour and Floyd define the meaning of Universal creaminess . Their splendid majesty and rhythmic abilities are heavenly . Listening to their music tickles my soul and I'm proud to admit brings tears to my eyes . Timelessly classic and spiritually enticing . I shall forever fall asleep in a beautiful woman's arms who's not there listening to this beautiful music . Reminds me of swimming whales in love , chatting about the sun rise through the water .
vor 6 Tagen 3 Hmm, I just came to a realization of something that I never thought of before while listening to this. Pink Floyd (and alot of music of this era) has the ability to take a 10 min song and make it feel like its only 3 min long. That's incredibile, because most bands make a song thats 2 or 3 min long but it feels like an eternity for it to be over. This a sign of good writing and composition. Am I wrong here?
Because of Pink Floyd I always hesitate to answer when someone asks me: Dude, can you play guitar? Well, yeah, in theory. But unfortunately, there are guys like David Gilmour so the statement "I can play" must be taken with a lot of reserve.
That man does more emotional damage with one note then others do with entire albums.
About 99% of artists write an album for themselves, so im sure just as much emotion goes into theyre entire albums as much as David Gilmours, and im sure there are people out there who feel the same about other bands as well as pink floyd
while your right tht he does alot of "emotional damage" in his notes, just as many other bands do aswell

@krsongs pink floyd put more love soul and effort into their music
beiber just reads from a script and auto-tunes taking away all talent and skill

@SydBarrett997 Just because you don´t like the music by the people you´ve listed doesn´t give you the right to say "fuck these people". That´s ignorant.

This song is straight up haunting , its feels like the notes are just able to tell the story of Pink Floyds tragedy with Syd without having to write any lyrics , as if the lyrics weren't genius already. simply amazing . simply genius.

this era will never ever come back, where musicians used to spend time to write and compose a song or a tune,everything was acoustic, and improvised and inspired, nowadays music became just a noise with a nonsense words & lyrics, even the quick generation of this time can't make a difference between music or noise, respect to all music & musicians of 60 & 70, PINK FLOYD 4 EVER
petitfiloux1 1 year ago 2
@petitfiloux1 This is plain wrong. This era will never come back, true that. But to say that nowadays youth has no sense of music and can't respect gods like Pink floyd is plain wrong.

@PinkFloyd793
that's funny, considering that you have the band name in your screen name. Methinks that you're trying to instill a sense of pride in the band rather than hatred towards the band.Almost like reverse psychology perhaps?

@lickurbass obviously sarcasm. best band ever

I just can't listen to this because of the out-of-tune G David plays at the beginning. It sends shivers through my spine, in a bad way.

You are absolutely right! Jörn Watertown MA

@DumbEdain Aint THAT the truth!
Dascot08 11 months ago
@DumbEdain
I Disagree
About 99% of artists write an album for themselves, so im sure just as much emotion goes into theyre entire albums as much as David Gilmours, and im sure there are people out there who feel the same about other bands as well as pink floyd
while your right tht he does alot of "emotional damage" in his notes, just as many other bands do aswell
