The character is a parody of horror writers in general, in particular those most prolific in the 80's. Shaun Hutson, King, Koontz, Graham Masterton, James Herbert, Guy N Smith, Richard Laymon, the list is endless.

I'd say definately Shuan Hutson, has to be the main writer he's parodying. The book covers are classic Shuan Hutson as are the central ideas for the novels. I.e. What if a Wasp waged war etc. Like Shuan Hutsons Slugs.

It took me the first episode to get into the show coz its so different to the genius Darkplace, but the rest of the series was great! I think its being released on DVD in September. Can't wait!!
