  • What a classy piano........ I forgot just how much it was......

  • he would be proud :)

  • "Don't think that I brag. I speak of the drag!" That piano is singing to us. Awesome!

  • how amazing

  • everytime i hear that song it makes you want to dance The varsity drag lol

  • POPAI, MIDI's granny? ;o)#

=> Piano's Own Paper Analog Interface

  • And a nice piece of music. The mechanics are pretty similar to a mechanical organ, an instrument which still is regularly seen in Dutch streets.

  • :o)# So the roll contains a transcript of an actual piano player? Sweet machine. Must be a headache to service though.

    Marc

  • Actually, other then once a year tuning, and a few minor adjustments and repairs, we have had no major problems or expenditures maintaining it over the years. The Lauter was known for its Quality of workmanship, and its ease in servicing. There is neat website that tells abit about the history of the Company the quality of its player pianos.

  • Quality indeed then.

  • hey friend!

nice piano, Lauter is a nice piano

  • Thank you, you should know better then most folks, as you love Player Pianos and restore them. Thank you for the Compliment !!

  • LOVE player pianos! I have a new one...runs off of discs...easier to store, but now much fun to watch..lolol.

My husbands family had a roll player...built into a baby grand piano!

It operated with electricity as opposed to an air pump system.

  • I meant not....typed as now! The discs are

not much fun to watch...you slide it in...it plays the piano...the rolls seems more interactive, plus they usually had the words to the song printed for sing a longs!

    Thanks for posting these,Bruce!

  • By the way, can you demonstrate how to work this thing? The mechanism looks really complicated....Does this work on a electric device or a spring motor?

  • To get the technical explanation please google "How a Player Piano works". My piano at some point in its life was electrified and thus has an electrically run air pump system. You can see me at the beginning of the video pushing a small button to start the pump going and then you can hear it building up enough suction run all those original gears and chains and bellows that play the piano.
