Hamilton also said in Federalist No. 21:
"If duties are too high, they lessen the consumption; the collection is eluded; and the product to the treasury is not so great as when they are confined within proper and moderate bounds."
Hamilton, like many Republicans of today, recognized that some taxation is necessary to keep the government going but that taxation must be moderate in order to prevent economic failure.

it's not all about "paying taxes" .. in this society it's about educating others kids when i don't have any, taking care of sick people when i am healthy. and going to war when i don't want to.
if i want to be charitable and help with your education, health or war then i will. but it shouldn't be forced socialism.
