Nuclear power is by far the most effective, clean, and efficient way of producing power. Clean in the sense that it does not pollute rivers and air like coal does (the "smoke" you see coming out of the chimneys is actually steam). It is about 70-80 percent efficient as opposed to wind energy which is far less reliable and is only 10-15 percent efficient at generating power (provided the wind is blowing. Lastly, nuclear plants dont chop up flocks of endangered birds like wind generators do....
Its on-par or cheaper only in terms of operation, but start up capital costs are enormous, billions. I'm all for it, but the cost is simply rather difficult to control.

From 1880 to 2003, when the largest pollution emissions of human history occurred, sea levels rose a whopping 20 centimeters. There's a site that archives the satellite scans of the poles, and its easy to differentiate between seapack ice (which is controlled by local weather) and hardpack ice (the more glacial ice who's rate of melt is used as a measure on global temp) Once I find the url I'll send it your way. Something most people don't seem to grasp is much of this ice is going to melt anyway. Its been melting for 18000 years, since the last ice age. The real measure is how fast, not if it is.
Its melting at an exponential rate on one coast, that just so happens to be the coast moving towards the equator at 2cm a year, the hard pack ice on the opposite side is increasing and is now at a record high for the last 36 years.
It is a tragedy that global warming is real and Republicans don't understand the reality. Hell they are still stuck on evolution. It is also sad that these speakers are soooo dull. It's a shame IPCC made some tiny mistakes (in such a big report over such much years or research) and that media blew them up.
Global emissions need to peak between 2015 and 2020 and then decline rapidly. To stabilize climate, a decarbonized global society with near-zero emissions of CO2 and other long-lived greenhouse gases need to be reached well within this century.

Nuclear power is by far the most effective, clean, and efficient way of producing power. Clean in the sense that it does not pollute rivers and air like coal does (the "smoke" you see coming out of the chimneys is actually steam). It is about 70-80 percent efficient as opposed to wind energy which is far less reliable and is only 10-15 percent efficient at generating power (provided the wind is blowing. Lastly, nuclear plants dont chop up flocks of endangered birds like wind generators do....

Hydrothermal Vents? I don't think they are Nuclear Fusion are they? I'm not a physicist, but the output in fusion is helium and deep sea vents, vent sulfur. Plus they only last for a few years or so (not to mencion having rare and unique species living on them) - so not really viable as an energy source.

the manufacture of ONE car creates about 5 tons of solid waste, not including the gases released into the air.

i think the day after tomorrow, the movie, is what this brings to mind. at least there is a good reason for all the different restrictions on mpg for cars and emission caps that are coming our way.

Open a book and read about it, then comment on earth's cycles before spewing out thoughtless propaganda. It is impossible to deny human-induced climate change after understanding ecology. There are many more factors than our cars, although that is a significant contributor considering all the mining, deforestation, water pollution, air pollution and cheap labor that goes into producing them.

While human driven climate change is in all likelyhood a real problem, its hard to quantify when most of the studies and computer models made to verify it are based on junk science and outright scare tactics, not hard data.

Ecosystems, composed of biodiversity, which are its working parts, regulate the climate. That is Gaia theory. That is Earth: the biosphere. Destroy ecosystems, disrupt climate. It's that simple, yet complex.

Climate change is real, dangerous and a big problem.
Right now there are two effects from climate change on human societies.
1. The introduction of legislations that are supposed to fight imaginary catastrophic global warming.
2. Natural solar based global cooling. The solar activity is now changing into a less active state which creates cooler climate on Earth.
This report is based on subjective agenda driven and politicized science as opposed to truth seeking objective science.

It's amazing that I used to hear all about "global warming" but now they hardly ever mention that unless they're going way back in time.
Now it's all about "climate change".
WE WILL ALWAYS HAVE CLIMATE CHANGE!
2008 world-wide was colder than 2007 & it looks like 2009 will be colder than 2008.
We even heard ppl assert that the artic ice would be gone in a few yrs, but little about that now.
I just hope Barack looks at both sides of this argument before taking drastic actions.

The reason why 2008 was colder than 2007 is because of the global depression. There are not near as many drivers on the road today as there were a couple years ago when unemployment was 8% lower.. You can also see that global warming rised drastically during both world wars and declined afterwards.

There's not necessarily time for an argument. At worst, we end up living lighter on the Earth, and not relying as much on foreign oil - which will run out.

Are you able to discern the difference between climate change and seasonal weather? By the way, there's 40% less summer Arctic Ice. It's possible to take a ship with a reinforced hull from Europe to Russia by way of a passage north of Canada now... Which is why the Russians want to claim mineral rights for the Arctic Ocean... Thought you'd want to know.

There is no good reason to ration our electricity, subsidize inefficient energy sources, and force Americans into buying cars that they do not want to buy. I do not believe in man-made global warming/climate change. It is a hoax. Americans, this is being done not because the politicians want to 'help' you, but rather to increase their own power. Think about the amount of power that they will achieve if they get this 'climate change' legislation passed.

Look at recent history.50 years ago it was rare to have 100 degree temps, now it's every other day in the summer. It used to snow in N TX quite a lot, now it's rare except in e AMarillo areas. Today's Global Temp is only 8 degrees higher than it was in the ice age. If it continues to increase as little as 2 or 3degrees, It will be catastrophic for the polar caps, and possibly tear the world apart from the storms and massive flooding that will possibly be unleashed. It's happened before

Hey, I'm in the North Texas too, but we're not getting near the results you are. In fact, it's been since 1980 & the record 100 degree days since we've had that many HOT summers?
And the snows we've had haven't been all that bad, but this past year we've had the latest on-record-ever-recorded freeze for some reason. Near killed the pecan trees I planted this year!
And last year getting that snow 2 days right before Easter? What was that all about? Killed a bunch of sod I put out!

So there's a lot of arguing going on here. Is global warming real, fake, an NWO plot? To be honest, I could care less.
I think no matter what side we take (with respect to global warming), we all need to strive to improve our efficiency and sustainability.
Change is constant. This we know.
Our job is to adapt and navigate through that change, and the best way we can do that is to be efficient and sustainable.

Want to push responsibility to someone else, or declare that it's impossible so they don't have to take action or move out of their comfortable spot. It's human nature.

If you listen to what's being explained, the impacts are already happening. Sea levels are already rising world wide, it's already getting warmer. It's happening. As things sink under the sea, and things keep getting hotter, I'm sure the lack of additional taxes will feed you and keep you cool.

Alarmism helps no one. Yes sea levels are rising, at a 2 millimeters a year. From 1880 to 2003, when the largest pollution emissions of human history occurred, sea levels rose a whopping 20 centimeters. Especially since the last few years arctic ice packs (whose 1980-96s shrinkage is used to justify GW alarmism) have been at record highs.

There's a site that archives the satellite scans of the poles, and its easy to differentiate between seapack ice (which is controlled by local weather) and hardpack ice (the more glacial ice who's rate of melt is used as a measure on global temp) Once I find the url I'll send it your way. Something most people don't seem to grasp is much of this ice is going to melt anyway. Its been melting for 18000 years, since the last ice age. The real measure is how fast, not if it is.

Its melting at an exponential rate on one coast, that just so happens to be the coast moving towards the equator at 2cm a year, the hard pack ice on the opposite side is increasing and is now at a record high for the last 36 years.
